Blizzard just banned The Ceaseless Expanse in the Wild constructed mode following a game-breaking interaction with Holy Wrath.
We have no information as of now whether it'll be unbanned after this deck gets adjusted in an upcoming balance patch or not.
Quote from BlizzardWe are ceasing The Ceaseless Expanse in Wild Mode. The card will still be usable in other formats.
never saw this combo.. ever :D
LMAO!!! Remember when people were saying.."iTs tOo SloW."🤣🤣🤣 Card is a monster
I don't think you understand how this card was being used in the Wild format...
I had zero idea how it was being abused..and Im pretty embarassed by my comment above..I just figured out its a Holy Wrath deck.so yeah im dumb
It's awwwwwright! *sunset heart hands*
I guess it wasn't CEASEless after all eh?
I get that some standard cards get banned in Wild for crazy stuff you can do with them when released but what happens in two years when they rotate like I get people are happy with this now but two years down the line someone’s bound to remember this combo
For now, they're balanced around Standard. If they break Wild, they get banned. When they rotate to Wild, they're no longer Standard cards, so they can be altered to suit the Wild environment as needed. This is exactly what happened to prior banned cards like The Demon Seed or Tome Tampering.
They should do that with order in the court...problem solved
Please handle Elemental Mage. I played mech mage in the early days and it wasn't nearly as easy. The amount of damage output and draw synergy while just throwing super efficient elementals out at literally no cost is not fun in the slightest (for opponents). Especially with the Prince gone to mitigate the massive damage output. Games don't feel interactive at all. At least pirate DH could be answer with a bit of removal and burst damage was relatively low. But with an elemental that can deal 10-15-20 damage for 4 mana or one that can put out a full board for 4 mana or one that can draw 5 cards for 4 mana, is just plain stupid.
Can we just have a custom ban function already? Just ban 3 cards yourself that you don't want to see in players' decks and then go into queue? Every single time during expansion release or miniset, there is a broken combo. People hate it, have to wait for the devs. If you can just ban the key card of that combo so you won't face that, you don't have that problem. Nobody plays casual gamemode, so if you really want to play a fun deck when everyone is only playing the most meta-broken decks, what fun is there really? For Wild: Holy Wrath (Would now replace that with Lamplighter), Demon Seed and Archbischop Benedictus for me.
I'd agree, but say less than 3 cards: One is enough. If you wanted to avoid some other cancerous nonsense such as Even Shaman, you could just ban Genn. Same with banning The Demon Seed, and you'd never see that deck either.
Linchpins of toxic decks can be more easily avoided while not removing ALL possibility of your opponent having the tech answer to your chosen toxic nonsense. Longstoryshort, 3 is too many.
Banning patches to never see pirates deck again
Banning cards won’t work because it will mess up the match making process when everyone bans two cards that end up in the majority of decks.
Personal custom ban is a controversial thing, if you look deeper. For example, you can ban cards which are key cards versus your matchup (loatheb, ice block, benedictus etc).
I would like to see "ELO ban" system, what means, that players are able to vote which cards they would like to ban from top-30 popular cards in the ladder (class and neutral cards are included).
How would this work: the system would look here https://hsreplay.net/cards/#sortBy=includedPopularity&gameType=RANKED_WILD (I mean not exactly here, I assume blizzard have their own tools to measure card popularity) and put some very often used cards on dispute. (deckbuilding cards like Prince Renathal, E.T.C., Band Manager or start of the match cards like Benedictus are immune from ban).
So if it would exist right now, you could choose would you like to ban this card or not: finley, zilliax, raise dead, the ceaseless expanse, Reno, Lone Ranger and so on. The higher rank you have the more the more your opinion counts — 1 vote for bronze 10 for example, 20 "votes" for legend players.
Voting goes in last week before season ends (23-30 days of a month), and then on next season bans or unbans comply. Also you vote do you want to unban the cards that were previously banned, so there are no more than X banned cards in a moment.
This is almost how it existed in browser CCG game Urban Rivals. I think it would be good to see in similiar way in Hearhstone too. It was 20-10 years ago and people could choose what cards to they want to see and which are healthy or unhealthy for the game, so why can't we.
yes please
@ZagniefMaster
That doesn't sound half bad! I like the idea.
The argument you made for the key cards is valid, however that shouldn't be much of a concern regarding when a player absolutely hates that specific deck, they can choose to ban the key cards from that deck. So it really is a personal choice thing. You don't want to face ice block? Fine, you won't encounter hostage mage. You want to play as torture mage and don't want opponents to run eater of secrets or ashen elemental? That's fine too, it will also mean that the other person who runs eater of secrets won't face you. So both parties are happy. The person who runs eater of secrets clearly hates secrets, so they should only be happy about it.
Make Holy Wrath into "Draw a Paladin card". I dont play wild so i have no clue how a big problem the Holy Wrath and 25 mana Tiger is tho. Can someone tell?
It could win games but is far from oppressive. The "classic" version of that deck runs Shirvallah, the Tiger and 2x Molten Giant for the lethal strike, and a Sir Finley, Sea Guide to bury any of those cards if you draw into them (which happens... a lot).
The big issue is that Pirate DH, Pirate Rogue, Shadow Priest and Scammy/Big Shaman can be faster, or any deck with 40 starting health is out of your reach without chip damage.
Undo the nerf to order in the court?
