It might as well be a triple blood card, you don't want to run this in a deck with Helya and Horseman but on the flip side you are favored against BBU as a BBB player with this card. Dunno how it will perform in other slow matchups though, against Warrior it basically does nothing and only helps them so it might not be run atm but there's lots of ways to discover it.
I wish so much that this were a warlock card, as that would be absolutely busted.
This card looks bad and will see a ton of play. It’s tickatus all over again. If it is played on curve, and your opponents haven’t used any extra draw, it destroys roughly 1/3 of their deck while also not affecting the board state at all. It seems like a bad play for turn 8. It also destroys low cost cards, so Druid will thank you for making sure they draw hydration station and not splash splash whelp. That is if you live long enough to even play it.
Shuma-Gorath reference?
I mean. Is kinda like a Void Contract but summons an 8/8 at the cost of leaving your opponent with the 8 best cards of their deck.
I think people is going to try to play it because it is sick, but in the end is not going to be any good. It could be a pretty solid OTK killer. Maybe could be a good ETC card just for that. But on average is like a symmetrical Hemet, Jungle Hunter and you are giving your opponent access to all their late game cards, on late game, so its quite risky.
My favourite genre of cards: bad to play, and HORRIBLE to play against if you want to have fun lol
Don’t they just draw and play Kil'jaeden anyways?
Okay, not all decks would play Kil’jaden but if you are hoping this would do anything against control then you’re out of luck because they most likely including Kil’jaden to counter the opponent’s Kil’Jaden.
It isn’t good against Aggro unless they are out of hand and board by turn 8 I guess. So, this card targets combo decks specifically I’d say.
Lets look at this the other way around. Does DK have an OTK that they can tutor for using this? I don’t know, because I haven’t played DK since the expansion they got released in.
8 mana is a bit underwhelming and too late against most fun or meta decks but I'm positive it will make more sense when we'll see rest of the cards.
Also wish I didn't have to pick between this and Reska. The way they use rune system to balance dk continues to annoy me!
I mean, it would be disgusting if you included all the broken DK cards in one deck, right? You all need to stop thinking that way about DK. Think of DK as three individual classes with some dual-class cards in between or something like that.
I don’t understand the complaints about the rune system. Do people really want to play with all the broken DK cards in one deck?
I have nothing against locking win conditions behind runes. It's how you're building rest of your deck around them and that should be the identity.
What bothers me is when they lock support cards like Soul Searching or the newest Orbital Moon behind double runes where they have least synergy
What do you mean by ‘support cards’? Did you mean generally good cards? I agree that ‘Soul Searching’ is a good card for any deck, but ‘Orbital Moon’ has a lot of synergy with Blood cards like ‘Screaming Banshee,’ ‘Death Metal Knight,’ or ‘Arcanite Ripper.’ Lifesteal is the main keyword for that card.
Let me give you an example. Imagine you want to play Sif Mage. You have the option to include the Paladin tourist to add ‘Grillmaster,’ or you can use the Rogue tourist to make use of coins. But in that case, you wouldn’t be able to use ‘Grillmaster’ to consistently draw Sif.
By your definition of support cards, ‘Grillmaster’ and ‘Metal Detector’ would be considered support cards.
Think of DK as a class with three or more tourists. If you use one tourist (certain cards), you can’t use the others from different runes (tourists).
Also, forget about class or rune identity in 2024 Hearthstone. Nowadays, any class can do almost anything. Hunter has access to a 9-mana charge minion with ‘Psychic Scream,’ and Paladin has a ‘miracle’ deck in Wild. Any class can do anything, and the same goes for Death Knight’s runes.
Are we calling tentacles hands now?
This looks like its going to be annoying. I am totally playing this. I thought this kinda thing was a Warlock only stat though. Guess they spreaded it.
This into Helya
I kinda see this as more as a tech card, than a win card. This thing will probably remove all Eruptions, Plagues, TNT, Marins Treasure etc. from the decks and leave both players with their "best cards" and set both players to kind of an even state deckwise.
I currently play a BBU Plague Deck and this might be an interesting card for it. Play this and then Helya and it might shift the game to your side.
once again the art is sick!
So you have to guarantee that your 8 cards beats their 8 cards. Seems hard to do against some decks, but I guess that's good since it could otherwise be very frustrating.
This might be good if you play cards like Helya or Incindius afterwards. But still not sure, if setting both decks down to their 8 "best cards" is a good strategy
I think it is safe to put Kil'jaeden in E.T.C., Band Manager in this expansion to somehow counter this
I would be surprised if Kil'jaeden is not between the 8 most expensive cards in your deck.
