Season 8 is Coming August 20th, with a new mechanic: Trinkets! Read on for everything about it!
Trinket Summary
- Trinkets are a new mechanic in the same vein as Quests and Buddies.
- They are similar to Quests in how they spice up game play, but they are far more dynamic with up to 60 choices, twice.
- You will get a Lesser Trinket on Turn 6, when you have 8 gold and a Greater Trinket on turn 9 (or your second 10 gold turn in other words).
- You are offered 4 Choices and are forced to choose 1 of them.
- Trinkets cost Gold, but different Trinkets cost different amounts.
- Trinkets are tied to 1 or 2 Minion types and will not offer if those are not in lobby.
- The lesser Trinkets are more broad in appeal and less likely to force you into a specific minion type for the rest of the game.
- The greater Trinkets are more specific and will offer a higher power level
- Trinkets offer a payoff for what you are doing, or offer a pivot choice to go do something else.
- Your Trinket offerings and their Costs are influenced by your Hero, the Minion Types in the game, and your Warband.
- This is NOT a weighted system. The system is designed to eliminate terrible trinket choices, not to offer the perfect one.
- Example: if you go for a Beasts build, and do not get offered the perfect trinket to go with it, then this is NOT a bug.
- One of the goals with trinkets is end-game board diversity.

Quote from BlizzardNo vacation is complete without a stop at the souvenir shop. But this is a unique boutique: it sells magical Trinkets—the new Battlegrounds seasonal mechanic! Come see what’s in store for Battlegrounds Season 8, Trinkets & Travels, launching on August 20!
With Season 8, Battlegrounds Ratings will reset (for both regular Battlegrounds and Duos) and Buddies will rotate out of the Tavern to make room for new Trinkets.
New Mechanic: Trinkets
Trinkets are special passive power-ups that you buy with Gold and use for the rest of the game—kind of like Quest Rewards. Trinkets are offered twice per game: on turns 6 and 9. Each offering, you’ll get 4 Trinkets to choose from.
In total, there are 56 Lesser Trinkets (turn 6) and 60 Greater Trinkets (turn 9) coming in Season 8! Some Trinkets have a Lesser and a Greater version--letting you diversify or double-up on your effects!
Your Trinket offerings and their Costs are influenced by your Hero, the Minion Types in the game, and your Warband to ensure you’ll always be offered something exciting to build from.
New Hero: Marin the Manager
Want a special Trinket offer? Speak to the Manager! Marin the Manager is coming to Battlegrounds in Season 8, bringing you an extra Trinket—and one turn early, to boot!

I'm very excited about the trinkets, the effects seem very interesting.
Just disappointed that they cost gold. I would rather have more stuff to do in an average turn instead of doing less, and pressing a single button to buy a 6 gold trinket seems like doing less. More economy cards please!
hahahah, they add more depth and creativity to this mode but leave the core of this game intact. so pathetic.
theres no point of playing this rng rigged game because while the game OFFERS you the choices HE MAKES, its useless.
so the game will always give the worst player the best choices so he can win, making him buy new stuff later, like skins and battle passes.
pathetic game and mode.
For a hot second I though this was the Mini-set announcement and I lost my mind.
It looks fine. Is like, you can buy your own Quest Reward. Seems good. Quest are the most fun gimmick in my opinion in BG.
I'm not sure if I'm a fan of being forced to buy one, but I guess that unless you get 4 pretty expensive ones, that are also not that usefull for your build, cause you are just that guy, you probably are going to be fine buying any of them.
They really squeezed every penny they paid out of the art of Yogg-stactic Pastry.
I prefer the normal way. No buddies, anomalies, quests, etc.
Sounds like a more impactful version of Darkmoon Prizes. No dynamic when you get them, but more bonuses with long-term effects.
The fact that the system only tries to not offer something completely useless is a small comfort. It shouldn't always offer the perfect trinket, of course, but the difference between getting the perfect thing and something that's just ok might be massive. With quests, you knew early on what you'd have to do and could think about how you could make the reward work. This is more like rolling dice at a late point in the game and hope for the best. You can still change your build by Turn 9, of course, but it highly depends on how much health you've left.
But I'll wait and see what all the trinkets actually look like.
Sadly no news on whether they try to improve matchmaking in Duos. The frustration of frequently playing with someone who sticks with Tavern 3 beasts or dragons and never levels beyond 4 is kind of ruining it for me, as fun as it can be sometimes. Also, a few more ping options would be nice.
