draw 6 cards is too much
refresh 9 mana is too much
15 armor is nice.
That's kinda missing the point, the best value from this card is when you combine the different effects. You don't have to choose the same one three times. For example, if you use this card to draw once and refresh twice, you effectively draw 2 cards for 1 mana, which is obviously amazing value, though it's limited by the fact that you can't do it before 7 mana.
This will at the very least be a great card in warrior, you can use it to cycle almost for free if you're looking for specific cards, and if you don't, you can use it after playing Odyn, Prime Designate to deal 15 damage and gain 15 armour, or do a lot of other pretty powerful stuff.
That 15 armor with Odyn is going to be nutty.
Plus it's given in 3 stacks of 5, so a Razorfen Rockstar can turn this to 21 for 8 mana.
Board is full, hand is full, mana crystals are full but you can't spend them. This would never happen in early HS but does now, because power level of the cards increased by like 5 times while hand and board limits stayed the same.
Quadrice. Pentice. Hexice.
read that in zilliax voice
So 1 mana to draw 2 or 4 mana to draw 4. That's going to be insane for combo decks, ans Warrior has access to it as well...
Will go to 8 mana and still be really good
Totes agree. This shortsightedness is like when Celestial Alignment was a "totally fine and okay card" in practice, right up until it wasn't and it was totally reworked: It's a busted card on paper and will one day find a downright degenerate way to shine.
Yeah, I am mostly worried about the drawing here. Ramp decks often run out of stuff if they go super hard on the ramping, so I would assume that drawing 6 cards will be something they want to do. And it's probably going to be active most of the time by turn 5.
Celestial Alignment at least needed some kind of deckbuilding. These ramp and draw cards can be played in literally every druid deck. Heck, if I played HP druid in standard, I would add one copy of this card just to draw 6 for more burst.
Another angle here is Odyn, because this basically translates to 15 extra burst damage. Odyn can do crazier things, yes, but it's the combination of draw, burst, and potentially draw + refreshing mana that is super dangerous. 4 mana draw 4? Sure, I'd do that all the time. And another problem is that it makes no sense to reduce the numbers on the refreshed mana. You can't nerf this to refresh 2 mana or else the Thrice part would make no sense for the refreshing.
And the fact that warrior gets ramp kinda makes the recent nerfs to Brann, Sanitize, and Reno ridiculous. Like imagine 6-mana Brann with these cards. There would be games where you go 2nd and play your Brann on turn 3! And you can do that with Doomkin now... Turn 3 Doomkin is disgusting. There is also no downside to these kind of plays anymore because of cards like this one since you will never run out of cards in your hand.
I think we will get an even crazier and very fast-paced meta just because of Druid and Warrior, and potentially pirate dh.
The powercreep on Branching Paths is kind of silly, and THAT gross card sees regular play in Wild to this day. Gotta be honest, the Druid card reveals are really throwing cold water on my looking forward to this next expansion...
You can't really call this powercreep of Branching Paths. It's 3 more mana, making it a much bigger risk, and a bigger investment. It's probably at least as good, but it'll be played differently, in different situations and for different reasons.
How is it powercreep? If you choose refresh once the card "becomes" 4 mana, so you select armor twice and gain 10 armor for 4 mana, which is worse than branching?
Did you miss the bit where "Draw a card" becomes "Draw 2 cards"?
As far as "risk" for Druid, armor gain, card draw and ramping is their identity (despite Blizzard's recent Whelp ban?!?!), so the mana cost to Branching Paths was never the issue. If anything, pairing it with Solar Eclipse is what made it enticing to a Wild player in The Year of Our Lord 2024, but it wasn't necessary. Now think of Solar Eclipse paired with this new card, and you can start to see the issues unfolding before us...
This card is going to be broken. It's just the sort of pay-off card that a ramp druid needs to either replenish resources or survive one or two more turns.
I am very skeptical there's going to be good representation of classes once the expac. releases. It's going to be 3 classes max and I suspect druid will be one of them. I'm sure pain priest will be one of the others..../s
Hearthstone is going crazy.... Super crazy...
These druid cards, taken as a package, are just bonkers. The fact they can also be used in WARRIOR now, is...a word beyond bonkers.
For anyone wondering the next item in the sequence is choose four times. Quarce, quince and sense are protologisms .
You had me at "quarce".
