Lifeguard looks great. I'm happy to see more support for slower Paladin decks.
Power Spike looks like hot garbage.
Grillmaster could be very good in a low-curve decks to reliably draw your highest cost bombs.
If you cast the new mage spell Tsunami with lifesteal the water elementals dont heal you, do they?
No, such effects only apply to actual Spell Damage.
No. To be esier to remember you could think on it as if was Spell Damage +1.
Tsunami summons 3 minions, and those 3 minions deal damage. So with Spell Damage +1, nothing happens, the Elementals still deal 3.
Tidal Wave deals 3 damage, so with Spell Damage +1 deals 4.
Lifeguard works the same, but instead of increasing the damage by 1, gives it Lifesteal. And only works if the card does direct damage, which means that specifically has the word "Deal" on the text. If you play Void Scripture and casts Flamestrike, it's not going to deal the damage, cause The Void Scripture didn't did that damage, the only thing that Void Scripture did was casting Flamestrike, and Flamestrike was what did the damage.
I truly don’t think power spike would’ve seen play outside of literally classic hearthstone, if even there. It’s so much worse than BoK.
Legit might be the weakest class card released in years.
lifeguard: Omega Mind
quien te ha visto y quien te ve.It's a strong card, as a concept. But is kinda like, Raylla, Sand Sculptor starters kit. I don't know how many damaging spells Paladin has to justify this. It's good with Consecration, and that's kinda it. Paladin has already a lot of more efficient ways of Healing. But also is a nice Taunt body, I think the card is solid overall.Power Spike: Kinda feels like a card from 1995. It's way to fair for current HS, gives me big vibes of Pharaoh's Blessing and you don't want to give vibes of Pharaoh's Blessing as a goal in life. The random buff it's kinda sad, tho *usually* shouldn't matter cause it's the same amount of stats, but it could make a trade more awkward. Also looks like in this set signatures are going to be mostly for spells. Which is cool, it's cool. But I feel that they have a lil less value since the minion at least stays in the board, the spell is just on your hand.
Grillmaster: It's pretty strong. Card Draw in paladin always welcome, and on a tutor form even better. Kinda weird implying that the low card is raw and the high card is cooked. But it looks like a very solid card.
Really good assessment.
One thing I'd note about Lifeguard is that there are more options than it first appears. Beyond just Consecration, you have Uther's Gift and Prismatic Beam which would almost definitely find a place in that deck, and I'm assuming Keeper's Strength would actually work too, and be the best option for this effect by far if it does. By the wording, it's not the minion dealing damage (and that's proven by the fact that poisonous and lifesteal minions don't apply their effects) but the spell itself, so there's no reason why it wouldn't, and it should usually be a full heal.
So even if neither Paladin nor Rogue (Paladin's "tourist" class) get any efficient damage spells, I think there's enough there to make Lifeguard really good, the only question to me is whether the deck you'd put him into works and makes sense to play over something like Handbuff Paladin which is so damn strong right now.
Uther's Gift is not entirely good with Lifeguard , because its the next spell, só you have play the gift first and them the Lifeguard.
You are right there is a few more cards that work nice with Lifeguard. And Keeper's Strength should work cause what deals the damage is the spell in base of the minion and not the minion itself.
But is not just a matter of "This is good with this", is more like "How good are this cards individually, how many cards of this type I can afford to play in a consistent deck, and is really worth the spot in my deck" And that is what I don't have too clear at the moment.
Also I like a lot Headmaster Kel'Thuzad and I know very well that "the next spell you play" it's a lot more awkward that how it looks on paper. Specially on a class like Paladin, when the big majority of your spells don't deal damage, means that you need to play this knowing that you are going to play the spell that turn, or the next one, and you can't change your mind without losing the enchantment. It's not like Surfalopod that you can play it and forget about it, and eventually it will trigger. If you play this on curve and you don't have or don't need that damage, there the most probably is that you are going to waste that effect.
Tho a silly play, not good but curious, it's playing this with Eye for an Eye .
Grillmaster - excellent
Power spike - trash
Lifeguard - I will go with trash.
Lifeguard is just... what the fuck. And people are wondering why there are so many blowout/OTK decks. Well good luck playing a chip damage focused aggro or midrange with cards like this around.
next on Trolden:
lifeguard --> coin --> concede
The lifeguard is obviously for the mage. Pally and rogue have almost no use of it
The tutor is amazing
rogue?
You know paladins have Consecrate right
