If they do not update Mana Tide Totem they have just destroyed one shaman core card.
Could this be more silly?
Not to mention the mega buff to even shaman in wild
being a core card is accepting the inevitability of being power crept absolutely.
If I want to play an excavate pala, what will the rest of the deck be?
Paladin is somehow going to be even more oppressive than before. Buff the crap out of all your minions and then buff them some more with 0 cost spells and then give them windfury to OTK. Seems fun.
This patch the class was not optimal though (in pure forms at least), because after diamond 5 you kept facing excavate rogues that had a high probability to win no matter what and decks with weaknesses against it were fewer.
I wonder what the rest of the deck on an 'excavate pala' will be though.
Wish Hunter could get an azerite legendary
What are they smoking with some of these?? INSANE OP.
Shroomscavate is kinda broken
Agreed. Giving Windfury to classes outside of Shaman always led to really big damage spike possibilities, whether it was Horn of the Windlord with Paladin's ridiculous potential attack modifiers or Battleground Battlemaster in classes like Warlock. The Divine Shield is just extra frosting.
Even more so giving it to a class that can buff a minion with 10+10 for 0 mana the combo potential for Paladin is insane.
Just dipping back into this comment thread to acknowledge that Paladin + Windfury is playing out pretty much how I thought it would. Have fun playing Paladinstone!
The anti-synergy between shaman treasure and 3 mana murloc is real…
im so disappointed by the shaman treasure, absolutely unplayable in any deck that wants to be competitive. I maybe think of running excavate cards in Reno-shaman just to play the 3 mana murloc, but without ever playing the treasure card. Just sad.
Why is it sad? I think the new legendary is already awesome by itself in a control deck. You don't necessarily need the reward
Once you get the legendary treasure, your max hand size is essentially 9 because you never want to play it. But I agree that it's worth to run a small excavate package because Finley is super good.
Kinda agree it can highroll for sure but it can end up pretty weak aswell so its not a definitive advantage of it and ontop of that I don't really like the Shaman excavate card a 4 mana 8 damage removal sounds powerful on paper but in reality you will mostly have to overkill with it to move up your reward track and getting Windfury/Divine Shield is decent but Shaman doesnt really have the potential of big minions from hand like Paladin does.
When it comes to Shaman I'm more intresting in how good Elemental based deck might become if it have a shoot at being really strong or if it will miss the mark, but too me it feels like Elementals is hanging slightly outside the meta right now and the new Elemental cards that we're getting might be enough to push it into a really strong deck.
Real talk, what could they do with Mana Tide totem now? Make it 2 mana? 2 mana 0/3 totem that draws ain't bad and is comparable to this new totem. Also Mana Tide totem is a rare, this new totem is common. Which makes the discrepancy all the more weird/confusing.
2-mana 0/4
Why was paladin's classic weakness lack of board clears and now it just has a mass transform along with prismatic beam and keeper's strength all at once?
Feels bad on the shaman excavate stuff. Murloc sucks, both excavate cards suck (for the class, shroomscavate is fucking insane for paladin with garden's grace still in)
Not a big fan of Paladin getting a windfury buff.
Sir Finley, the Intrepid
Sir Finley has been one of the very best card in Standard for over a year, and this version of him seems like it want to continue being a really strong card and I do like this card being able to screw with Deathrattles is always a good thing.
Shroomscavate
I'm not really feeling Shaman as an excavate class can be wrong of course I do think Paladin has a bigger chance at getting a good excavate deck. The danger I see with it is that I'm quite sure Paladin will be able to pull together a full on 30 damage OTK from hand with it and its just to good consider their decks is already really strong to have a reliable OTK combo aswell in their backpack or even if a single minion stick on the board and its not that rare tbh since they are flooding the board.
Fossilized Kaeidosaur
This is just a really strong solid card that is auto include if Excavate Paladin becomes a thing, nothing more to say about it really.
Digging Stright Down
I'm sorry but this is just a bad Excavate card, you want to get your Legendary online asap in games this will be played if Excavate becomes a thing or possibly in a Highlander deck that just see Excavate as an alternative win condition. Excavate Shaman won't be played if its a thing because of this card it might be played despite of this card though.
Aftershocks
Feels like an extremly powerful early game removal also I havent checked all the possibilities but knowing Warriors they will probably find a way to get some insane value out of it.
Needlerock Totem
A really good card, at worst its a get two armor draw a card for two mana. Best you can really hope for is having it up for another turn rest is just pure bonus. But on average I would guess what you will get is 2 armor and a card plus your opponent spending a resource to clear it that they would rather save for later.
