Warsong Commander Nerf Incoming
Grim Patron isn't going to be the same. The patch will go live next week.
Quote from ZeriyahThe following balance change will be made in an upcoming patch:
Warsong Commander now reads: Your Charge minions have +1 Attack.
Over the course of the short but impactful history of Hearthstone, we’ve taken a strong stance that we’d like to make changes to cards only when they are completely necessary. The direction of gameplay and the metagame should be defined by our players, and as the meta is evolving, many different types of decks can emerge. Cards that were once impactful in the meta can be less so once new strategies emerge, and that change is brought on by the constant need and drive for innovation by our players.
Innovation is just one way a game can evolve, and the best way to shake up the meta and innovate in Hearthstone is by introducing new cards into the game. Introducing new cards to Hearthstone is our preferred method of changing the current state of the game. It’s exciting to discover a deck that may have an advantage over a popular deck out there, and new cards lead to the discovery of new combinations, and new conversations. Hearthstone thrives off of stories about enjoying a fast-paced, fun game with friends that’s full of delightful surprises.
Going forward, we will continue to stand by our stance that we will only make adjustments to cards when we feel it is completely necessary and allow the injection of new cards into the game help our players define what the meta evolves into. In the case of Warsong Commander, we felt this change was necessary to help expand both future design space and to stand by our overarching game philosophy that battles between minions and fighting for board control is what makes Hearthstone fun and compelling.
The patch that includes the Warsong Commander change is currently planned for next week. (Source)
Does Blizzard test their nerfs? Like a process where they think,
"Okay this card is overpowered, what can we do it it that lessens the blow but isn't utterly useless?"
What exactly does 1 more attack to Charge minions, especially being a Warrior card, do?
Blizzard has access to this think tank of players, who've come up with numerous possible nerfs that don't outright kill the card, so why?
What like it did because of raid leader /sarcasm
I don't discount the possibility of it being useful in some way, no. Hence the question, what does it actually do? If Blizzard wanted to make a tool for aggro warrior, did they test to see that it is, in fact, useful?
Doesn't Raid Leader achieve the same effect better? Does one extra health compensate the fact that it ONLY affects charge minions. Being a class card, it certainly sounds very weak.
Paladin will dominate the ladder for the next few weeks
Deck is now completely broken as in unplayable like the Leeroy nerf/ Miracle Rogue nerf
I couldn't be any happier :) .
Look at these downvotes, so many butthurt people who can no longer exploit this broken deck
Justice is served patrons. You took my miracle rogue away, no eat it :D
Bad decision Blizzard, bad decision...Now if you wanna pick warrior at high or competitive level at least, you can't play anything beside CW. Besides Grim Patron is now totally obsolete... I can't imagine a way to play this card efficiently. Why not simply increase the mana cost of the card instead of completely changing it's text?
"Has 50% chance to give charge to minions with 3 or less attack" - that's a nerf
"Your Charge minions have +1 Attack" - that's a completely new card, but with old picture and stats
If you see Blizzard guys talking about HS then everything is so awesome and so fun and they are so creative. But this arrogance is not justified if they do such stupid nerfs. I wonder if they will react to the reactions of the community and try to convice us that this Change is so awesome and fun or if they just don't say anything as they did, when they decided to give random packs as Arena rewards, when the whole community desired to choose the pack?
I'm sad about this. There were so many better nerfs suggested in this forum alone!
Thanks for reminding me I have more important things to do than scroll through the comments with your outdated/overused illuminati gag.
Every one, get
inout of here! How can this be a nerf? It's like removing one card and introducing a completely different one... Oh well, warriors can still produce insane amounts of patrons and maybe you'll just have to change the deck a bit to accommodate? Would be stupid if no one plays it any more....
op deck . nerf was expected
700 gold refund
Well Done Blizzard for one more time, You did it!
You made an op deck totally unplayable after taking people money from the adventure.
Instead of nerfing it and keep the deck alive you buried it.
Well done Blizzard
And once again made warrior the most expensive class to use! Well done blizzard indeed.
Hardly surprising seeing Blizzard's past stance on decks capable of one-turn kills. They were hoping that some of the new cards in TGT (e.g. Chillmaw) would help against Patron, but when it didn't help they instead disabled the reason for the unblockable one turn insta-kills.
We'll see a lot more control warrior decks now and a lot less patron deck
