I don't get all this free pack hate. I don't remember getting free packs of GvG when it launched, so dunno why everyone keeps complaining.

Also, F2P players have a lot of incentive to play. Recently I created two more accounts to get the Fireside Card Back. Once I got through the tutorials, I started playing the game and winning a lot of packs, gold and some dust, through missions or unique quests. I get what everyone is saying, that the game will be unsustainable for new players in the future, but right now I don't think it's a serious issue.

HS is digital game so its costs em 0, nullo effort or manufacture costs to help those f2p players or new players. HS suppose to be F2P, not P2W. Also H$ has nothing to do with other TCG since its video game and without those "f2p" players there wouldnt be so many ppl registered and game wouldn't be so popular.

How can you say Hearthstone doesn't have its costs to maintain the servers? Do you think people work for free or the companies provide free servers? Think before you write something.

Of course HS have to do with other card game, and one with a lot of presence: Magic The Gathering. Although MtG doesn't have a strong digital platform to play the game as HS (MtG Online interface is a joke), it's still a competitor. Can you say a good cardgame that is successful and relies solely on being free, created by a known company?

Idky you all are surprised about the no free packs. Since they nerfed gold gains during beta it shouldn't be a surprise that this game was created to get blizzard money. To get cards for free you have to win. But to win you need to get cards.

Just wait like 3-4 months and you'll see Hearthstone subscriptions, pay 20$ a month to play!

I kinda understand the downvotes, but see it this way: F2P player, have to get Naxx, BRM, new expansions coming along, do I have to buy everything as a new player or get stomped at rank 20 by the farmers that already have those cards? Let's be serious people, would it have hurt them to give a bunch of packs to everyone? This way they'll just lose players that refuse to pay to get the expansion cards.. I wonder when will they (if it'd even happen) discount Naxx for the new players? It's easy to say "just grind for 700g a week), but you're a new player, without a big collection of cards (thus needing packs), and if the expansions keep coming, how are you going to keep hoarding gold if you don't have cards/ocassions to save for the said expansions if something new shows up?

Every time WoW reports a decrease in subs, Hearthstone players have free things taken away. I can't be the only person who's noticed this trend over the course of this game's history.

- WoD announced during Naxx launch, subs increased slightly and first Naxx wing was free.

- WoD records 3 mil sub increase during GvG release, free arena run and free packs.

- WoD records 3 mil sub drop during BRM launch, no free wing for BRM.

- WoD records 1.7 mil sub drop during launch on TGT, no free packs or arena runs.

Well, until Legion at best, don't expect any gimmies from Bli$$ard. As long as their baby keeps bleeding, they'll just take that lost revenue from everybody else that plays their games. Except Diablo. They're the lucky ones...for now.

Yes but it turns out, Hearthstone became the leading CCG, making 20 million a month. And I doubt using that card generator every 6 months and the server are really causing such a big deficit to say that they can't afford it.

No free packs? How fucking cheap can Blizzard get?

And no info if we can earn the power core cardback at those tournaments!
