As is recent custom, Blizzard announced the upcoming changes in a graphic with hints at cards being changed, but not the exact changes themselves yet. Stay tuned for Thursday's Patch for that information!
Quote from BlizzardGot word from E.T.C. that some changes to the lineup are coming this Thursday! 👀
Changes in Card Form
Shout out to the amazing DatMageDoe who compiled this list. Upvote their post to show appreciation!
Because not everyone recognizes cards by art alone, the cards getting buffed, sorted by class:
DRUID
HUNTER
MAGE
PRIEST
ROGUE
SHAMAN
WARLOCK
WARRIOR
NERFS
- Rowdy Fan
- Overseer Frigidara
- Twig of the World Tree
- Death Knight in general. Could be system/class wide changes, or a sign they haven't fully solidified their nerf choices yet.
Rowdy Fan
Strange that Paladin isn't on the nerf list, and also that it isn't on the buff list when slow Paladin decks seem to underperform.
The Druid buffs are nice. They probably won't do much since those cards are so far from seeing play, but I'm always for buffing weak cards.
Hunter will probably need more buffs than what they're getting to have even one good deck, but it's a start.
The Mage buffs are really nice. Surprising to see Siren in the list, but a happy one.
The Holy Nova buff could be huge if it goes to 3 damage, since Priest lacks early board clears. If that's not it then it won't matter.
Rogue will probably need more buffs.
Overload Shaman might actually be a thing with so many of its cards buffed at once. Excited to give that a try.
I think Warlock will need more buffs, but I could be wrong. The fatigue cards are extremely snowbally so those two buffs could have a huge impact.
And then there is Warrior... Good that it's getting a ton of buffs, but unfortunately this won't solve its biggest issue, which is lack of good board clear options. I think reducing the cost of the weapon would help much more than buffing Shield Block.
Just a Twig nerf? Seriously? Doesn't it bother you that the Mill Druid still kills on turn 4? Or Mine Rogue on 5? Or that Big Priest flips a coin and wins on turn 3? Wild is still dead. I'll go on playing other games where the developers do not allow this state of the format
Mill druid kills on turn 4? May you explain how?
I think he's referring to Tony Druid. It's the only way it makes sense.
Yeah, what happens in wild is like a miracle mill deck. It uses cards like Gadgetzan Auctioneer , Tony, King of Piracy, Solar Eclipse, and Naturalize to one shot you. It doesnt even need the nuts to kill you on turn 4. What happens is that you play Biology Project and just start ramping and you play auctioneer on 6 mana and you can generally just play your whole deck then play tony, then solar eclipse and then two naturalizes.
I kind of feel like Tony being a problematic card was a self fulfilling prophecy that pretty much everyone saw coming
Can even do it on turn 2 with biology projects and Lightning Blooms
A card that's never been good, has barely seen any play when it came out and hasn't seen any play in recent years.
Yeah no. They probably just forgot about it.
I watched the thing. Fine, not EVERY lineup, but it was in more than half of the matches. Why does that even matter.Anub'Rekhan + Underking +Zok Fogsnout wins the game vs most decks and you can consistently play it turn 8 and its extremely difficult for most decks to kill them before that. It's horrible game design too because Zok's a fun card that was created for the button druid archetype and he works better with the same crappy generic combo/control druid thats been the meta for the past 8 years.
Why do they tease the nerfs like this? What purpose does it serve at all? They must have settled on the exact changes they’re making, or they would not be able to release by Thursday, big companies being the slow, bureaucratic mess that they are. So, I think they’re only holding back the details because they hold some perverse notion that it builds excitement among the players. They couldn’t be more mistaken. I find the lack of details annoying, not exciting, and I can’t see why anyone else would be excited either.
Seriously. Just announce them so people can start rebuilding decks appropriately.
Yeah and why not lost the damn cards instead of having people identify what each little thumbnail refers to?
People used to complain about the lack of messages from the devs. Now they make a little heads up on twitter...
Perhaps it's just for the "excitement". Perhaps they don't invest that much money into announcing minor game changes and try to make cheap social media posts. It's like one dude who says "you're not forgotten" once every second week.
In my opinion, the reason is much more mundane. The later they announce the changes, the greater the chance that someone will craft some cards, that will become unplayable after the patch, because they were closely tied to the previous meta. Clever and cynical at the same time.
Take Warlock's curses as an example, they weren't nerfed directly, but without Brann Bronzebeard and Tamsin Roame in play, they are no longer viable, but you still can't refund them for the full dust cost.
TL;DR: Money.
It doesn't seem they're going to nerf DK's hero power. If Discover Knight will finally lose ability to discover card from different runes it will obviously buff him, imagine all discover shit like Nerubian Vizier and Ghost Writerwill be able to discover blood cards only.
I'm thinking they will just remove 3 rune cards from the pool, or remove 3-rune cards from the pool if you don't have 3 runes. Only ways I could see that being fixed.
Add 'Location' keyword to actual Locations please.
Did Frostwyrm's Fury again dodge the bullet? Also, where paladin
If they didn't forget about/miss it, they probably validated it staying there because with Finale, you get the extra bonus
