The HearthPwn Tavern Is Closing Its Doors
March 23, 2013 is a date that will be hard to forget.
Almost six years ago I was brought on by Curse as the Community Manager of HearthPwn. Part of the job entailed keeping everyone up to date with the latest news out of the community, and today I am with deep regret and sadness to give you one of the final updates HearthPwn has to offer, words that are difficult to type together - we are closing the doors to our Tavern.
HearthPwn will be closing its doors on June 28, 2019, 2257 days after our journey began. It is on this day you will no longer be able to add new content to the site.
Although our doors may be closing, we’re going to keep the windows open. The history of our site, all the posts, decks, and other content we all have created over the years will be archived and still viewable to those who want to see it. Creating new content will be disabled, our news will no longer be updated.
We’ve all been through a lot together over the years and I’m going to miss delivering content to you all as fast as possible, especially the sleep-deprived card reveal periods. Our amazing deck guide writers over the years have created some of the best content this game has ever seen and educated many new players in new archetypes. I’m quite happy all that content and history will still be accessible because there’s quite a bit of unique content.
Our Fan Creations section with the weekly card design competitions has some of Hearthstone’s most dedicated fans and gave way to some of the coolest card designs and always lead to questions of “Is Blizzard crazy enough to add something like this to the game?”. Only time will ultimately tell, though considering we did end up with Genn and Baku, anything is truly possible if you set your mind to it.
Speaking of those that really put their mind to it, our wonderful selection of forum trolls. You all made us work relentlessly, testing the limits of our moderation system, but you too brought a special charm to the site. Those midday laughs when we couldn’t believe you were at it again are uncountable
I could name so many of you who have improved my life in some way through HearthPwn but I can’t do that for I fear I’d miss out on someone. Even those people I never interacted with directly, there’s a good chance I read something you posted or created and thought highly of it or had a good laugh. Thank you so much for all the heartfelt and informative messages throughout the years, you’re the reason I go through madness to make sure card reveals every expansion were delivered as fast as possible.
I’d like to invite everyone to leave a message in the comment section below. What was your favourite HearthPwn memory? I’d also like to invite you to my Discord server where we can all still keep in touch, talk Hearthstone, and go crazy with card reveals even after HearthPwn closes its doors. I'll also be around on Twitch today talking about memories with y'all.
Stay awesome,
Robert and the HearthPwn Staff
PS. Myself and the moderation team will all still be around until the end. Expect to see continued coverage of the remaining adventure chapters and more. Thank you.
PPS. We still need to declare a winner in our last ever class creation competition.
An update I'd like to add from the MTG Salvation shut down message. Like them, we are also continuing with another project. You may find the old team on Out of Cards.
Quote from Feyd_RuinThe answer to the inevitable question of why is complex, but deserves a response. Our owners have expanded on to other projects, launching such epic endeavors as D&D Beyond. As these have taken off, the development team has shifted focus and simply does not have the time and resources for us that we require. They can simply no longer justify the development, infrastructure, and maintenance costs of the site compared to their other projects.
You don't need to do that, Flux opened a new site, it's not yet as full-featured as Hearthpwn, but it will eventually be: outof.cards
Aww man, this was the first site i knew about hearthstone. I built my first deck based on a weird aggro mage TidesOfTime had. Damn. I hope you all keep doing great stuff. Your dedication was aesome, Flux.

Oh nooo!!! This update hit me soo hard!!
Hearthpwn was my ultimate database for hearthstone since the beginning! It's a very sad day (sorry guys my English its not my primary language).
My dream since the beginning it was getting the legend rank and for 3 years I thought it would be impossible. So one day I made a odd rogue modification (with some unique tech cards) and I complete the task and more impressive, my list hits the front page! What a proud day!!!
I need to thank you all the staff of hearthpwn for these amazing years! You were in my shortcut (chrome) in all my platforms.
Gosh, actually I really don't know what to say but thank you for all! Have a good success in your future plans.

If... if... if I sell my organs on the black market and donate, will you stay??
Do they not realize what a behemoth of a site this is? I have been on a lot of sites and I gotta say the crew here work their asses off to bring us an amazing experience. Already migrated to the new one. Thanks for years of fun and here's to many more!
rest in pepperoni guys
pogchamp
and thats the bottom line cause millhouse manastorm said so
This hits harder than I expected, you will be missed guys, thanks for making this community so great. <3

If anyone still didn't believe that Hearthstone is an ever sinking ship, this is the proof. Blame Blizzard. They have systematically killed all their games in recent years, and even the biggest fans aren't sticking around. This is almost as telling as when nearly all the original Team 5 members jumped ship.
Nah, this has nothing to do with Hearthstone losing some players. Even though Fandom doesn't want to run the community sites anymore, we've gone off and are doing our own thing.

The site shutting down is not specific to HearthStone. For instance, Curse are also closing down MtG Salvation, which was my reference for all of Magic's stuff. It is more of an administrative/management decision and has little to nothing to do with the actual traffic of the sites or the popularity of the games.
I heard it was simply down to conflicting interests? meaning that the new daddy has other HS related sites that run in direct competition with HP, so shutting down HP is going to benefit their other sites? or maybe even the fact that they couldn't run both because of the conflicting interests. I'm not sure how laws and shit work with business like this, but I imagine it was something like this.
Nothing at all to due with having a previously existing Hearthstone Wiki. Wikis and Community Sites are very, very different!
ah ok. I thought this was why.
Gonna be a sad day when hearthpawn is layed to rest rip
Is https://hearthstone.gamepedia.com/Hearthstone_Wiki closing or stopping as well?
Nooooo! Say it ain’t so! Thank you to Flux and the many people who made this site so great and one of my go-to destinations every day. Really really appreciate all the hard work. I will always remember the April Fools Deathwing art. I think that makes me laugh out loud every time I see it. Could we incorporate that into the heading before you guys shut the doors? :) Thanks so much!
My best memories were always when the content for new expansion was revealed. I was always waiting for your updates. Thank you for what you've done and I hope one day you will come back to this site. I regret I won't have all achievements :P BTW I'm curious how your decision will influence on netdecking in HS.
