The HearthPwn Tavern Is Closing Its Doors
March 23, 2013 is a date that will be hard to forget.
Almost six years ago I was brought on by Curse as the Community Manager of HearthPwn. Part of the job entailed keeping everyone up to date with the latest news out of the community, and today I am with deep regret and sadness to give you one of the final updates HearthPwn has to offer, words that are difficult to type together - we are closing the doors to our Tavern.
HearthPwn will be closing its doors on June 28, 2019, 2257 days after our journey began. It is on this day you will no longer be able to add new content to the site.
Although our doors may be closing, we’re going to keep the windows open. The history of our site, all the posts, decks, and other content we all have created over the years will be archived and still viewable to those who want to see it. Creating new content will be disabled, our news will no longer be updated.
We’ve all been through a lot together over the years and I’m going to miss delivering content to you all as fast as possible, especially the sleep-deprived card reveal periods. Our amazing deck guide writers over the years have created some of the best content this game has ever seen and educated many new players in new archetypes. I’m quite happy all that content and history will still be accessible because there’s quite a bit of unique content.
Our Fan Creations section with the weekly card design competitions has some of Hearthstone’s most dedicated fans and gave way to some of the coolest card designs and always lead to questions of “Is Blizzard crazy enough to add something like this to the game?”. Only time will ultimately tell, though considering we did end up with Genn and Baku, anything is truly possible if you set your mind to it.
Speaking of those that really put their mind to it, our wonderful selection of forum trolls. You all made us work relentlessly, testing the limits of our moderation system, but you too brought a special charm to the site. Those midday laughs when we couldn’t believe you were at it again are uncountable
I could name so many of you who have improved my life in some way through HearthPwn but I can’t do that for I fear I’d miss out on someone. Even those people I never interacted with directly, there’s a good chance I read something you posted or created and thought highly of it or had a good laugh. Thank you so much for all the heartfelt and informative messages throughout the years, you’re the reason I go through madness to make sure card reveals every expansion were delivered as fast as possible.
I’d like to invite everyone to leave a message in the comment section below. What was your favourite HearthPwn memory? I’d also like to invite you to my Discord server where we can all still keep in touch, talk Hearthstone, and go crazy with card reveals even after HearthPwn closes its doors. I'll also be around on Twitch today talking about memories with y'all.
Stay awesome,
Robert and the HearthPwn Staff
PS. Myself and the moderation team will all still be around until the end. Expect to see continued coverage of the remaining adventure chapters and more. Thank you.
PPS. We still need to declare a winner in our last ever class creation competition.
An update I'd like to add from the MTG Salvation shut down message. Like them, we are also continuing with another project. You may find the old team on Out of Cards.
Quote from Feyd_RuinThe answer to the inevitable question of why is complex, but deserves a response. Our owners have expanded on to other projects, launching such epic endeavors as D&D Beyond. As these have taken off, the development team has shifted focus and simply does not have the time and resources for us that we require. They can simply no longer justify the development, infrastructure, and maintenance costs of the site compared to their other projects.
For those who enjoyed the content an coverage here, the team will be continuing to be excellent at www.outof.cards .
Sweet! Hope it gets the same attention as hearthpwn and that you guys also post it the last day of hearthpwn a direction to that site.
Great site ! Instantly created an account !
So sad for me. Wish you luck...
It's been fun. Seeya on the other side. :)
Ok so now is a good time to ask - why is my account elevated to (permanent) premium for 5 years already? I never purchased anything from curse, lmao.
No clue what they did to that. It was discontinued a couple years ago i think and some accounts are just premium for some reason lul.
Well, good for you. ^^
You must have had a Premium acc on one of the Curse sites and the orange name is a memento, a thank you, after the Premium option was discontinued.
F :c
This is a huge blow for hearthstone, you guys have helped me with off meta decks for the past year.
Can hearthstone survive who knows.
It will be surviving over at OutOfCards
Can I ask why the move to outofcards?
The why for moving is because Hearthpwn is shutting down. Why is hearthpwn shutting down?

One word: homepage
you will be missed, RIP.
You did an amazing job. Whatever your future holds for you I hope it will be at least equally good. All the best to you.
I have not interacted with the page so much. More of an observer than active participation. But it has been my go to place for news on Hearthstone and all its content. I am saddened to see it close its doors. But I understand that nothing lasts forever. Thus, I will wish you all the well wishes as well as a great summer! That your future endeavors yield fruit. Go while knowing that there are so, so many people that have valued your contributions to the community.
Is this a late april fool joke? What all of this mean? I cannot believe it :__(
This where the first page I used to discover decks 4 years ago, and also if I didn't use it for that purpose anymore, it still was my go to page for daily news, and my favourite hearstone page in general.
I'm so sad, I will really miss you guys...
If it's not a problem to tell, can we at least know the reason? I feel like today a part of my life died, and it's been all of a sudden...
Anyway, good luck for everything!!!
The reason? Investment politics. easy.
