The HearthPwn Tavern Is Closing Its Doors
March 23, 2013 is a date that will be hard to forget.
Almost six years ago I was brought on by Curse as the Community Manager of HearthPwn. Part of the job entailed keeping everyone up to date with the latest news out of the community, and today I am with deep regret and sadness to give you one of the final updates HearthPwn has to offer, words that are difficult to type together - we are closing the doors to our Tavern.
HearthPwn will be closing its doors on June 28, 2019, 2257 days after our journey began. It is on this day you will no longer be able to add new content to the site.
Although our doors may be closing, we’re going to keep the windows open. The history of our site, all the posts, decks, and other content we all have created over the years will be archived and still viewable to those who want to see it. Creating new content will be disabled, our news will no longer be updated.
We’ve all been through a lot together over the years and I’m going to miss delivering content to you all as fast as possible, especially the sleep-deprived card reveal periods. Our amazing deck guide writers over the years have created some of the best content this game has ever seen and educated many new players in new archetypes. I’m quite happy all that content and history will still be accessible because there’s quite a bit of unique content.
Our Fan Creations section with the weekly card design competitions has some of Hearthstone’s most dedicated fans and gave way to some of the coolest card designs and always lead to questions of “Is Blizzard crazy enough to add something like this to the game?”. Only time will ultimately tell, though considering we did end up with Genn and Baku, anything is truly possible if you set your mind to it.
Speaking of those that really put their mind to it, our wonderful selection of forum trolls. You all made us work relentlessly, testing the limits of our moderation system, but you too brought a special charm to the site. Those midday laughs when we couldn’t believe you were at it again are uncountable
I could name so many of you who have improved my life in some way through HearthPwn but I can’t do that for I fear I’d miss out on someone. Even those people I never interacted with directly, there’s a good chance I read something you posted or created and thought highly of it or had a good laugh. Thank you so much for all the heartfelt and informative messages throughout the years, you’re the reason I go through madness to make sure card reveals every expansion were delivered as fast as possible.
I’d like to invite everyone to leave a message in the comment section below. What was your favourite HearthPwn memory? I’d also like to invite you to my Discord server where we can all still keep in touch, talk Hearthstone, and go crazy with card reveals even after HearthPwn closes its doors. I'll also be around on Twitch today talking about memories with y'all.
Stay awesome,
Robert and the HearthPwn Staff
PS. Myself and the moderation team will all still be around until the end. Expect to see continued coverage of the remaining adventure chapters and more. Thank you.
PPS. We still need to declare a winner in our last ever class creation competition.
An update I'd like to add from the MTG Salvation shut down message. Like them, we are also continuing with another project. You may find the old team on Out of Cards.
Quote from Feyd_RuinThe answer to the inevitable question of why is complex, but deserves a response. Our owners have expanded on to other projects, launching such epic endeavors as D&D Beyond. As these have taken off, the development team has shifted focus and simply does not have the time and resources for us that we require. They can simply no longer justify the development, infrastructure, and maintenance costs of the site compared to their other projects.
You guys are my favorite community site. Without you, where will we go? Thank you for all the great times and fond memories. Your tireless efforts and hard work have been appreciated by everyone in this community. We will all sorely miss you.
https://outof.cards come join us all!
I remember when I was joining the site. The reason was at first just to have a place to keep all of my silly decks. But I always enjoyed the other aspects and even though I didn't participate that much I will miss it. With things like the "Real Casual Play Network" I made a lot of new friends.
This change couldn't have come at a more fitting time for me. With the Dalaran Heist the Solo Content now offers so much new and exciting ways to play that the Multiplayer now just pales in comparison. I will probably keep at it a little with the monthly card back and occasionally a fun meme gimmick duel with a friend if I get the 80 gold quest, but otherwise the Singleplayer now has the awesomeness I always wanted. Sure, some things could be improved, but overall it's interesting, but also sad to say that I probably won't even miss the community aspect.
So at last thanks to everyone that participated here. It was a great time and this will be a big change for many. Let's see what the future brings.
So, you sold site to Curse, who sold themselves to Twitch, who sold themselves to Amazon.....surprised the site stayed up for this long...
I never had any ownership over HearthPwn. I've only ever been paid to work here =(

Thanks for all the memories, everyone!
WHY? O_o
Omega Oof... 😭
Thanks so much for your work here, HearthPwn team. Your card reveals, deck sharing, and forums helped me improve as a player and provided me tons of time debating the finer points of the game with other users here. I improved my deck-building skills because of the community you gave a home to.
I hope whatever the reason for ending HearthPwn is, it's not something tragic or otherwise painful for anyone involved.
Best of luck in whatever you all do from here on out, and thank you again!
R.I.P. :FeelsBadman:
Well bugger...... this was always the first site I'd open when i booted up my PC and I'm gonna miss it a lot. Thank you for keeping me up to date on hearthstone for all these years :)
Goodbye Hearthpwn you will be missed X_X thanks for all the content though all these years! :)
When you read outof.cards it looks more and more like people from Heartpwn get sick from constant selling of the site. If Flashfluxor continue to do hearthstone content, than it is just sad if the reason is that fandom decided somehow to close hearthpwn. I think Blizzard should do something in order to keep their comunity sites from being devoured from big companies.
Flux can probably write a thick novel about his experiences running this site under different managements. The selling caused some major account issues for the users too! But I promise closing hearthpwn was not his decicion to make. He worked for it but did not own it.
The new site linked everywhere will be all Flux and he has no interrest of ever selling it!
Yeah, I totally understand that it wasn't flux decision to close the site. By "They got sick from selling" I mean, they finally decided that it is easier to create their own site instead of constant reselling and changing of management. I just don't understand if they will shut down the site, why they just don't give it to flux. What is the point to waste it like that. I don't even think that fandom know that hearthpwn existed.

Why is this happening? What made Curse decide to shut down the site? No explanation is given in the post.
YOU JUST CAN'T HIDE THE TRUTH. AS I SAID,JUST BAN ME AND DO NOT REPORT THESE COMMENT, WILL BE BETTER FOR EVERYONE. TRUTH CANNOT BE CHANGED AND YOU JUST HIDE IT, HOW PATETIC.
thank you for your services, I was following you since December 2013 when I started playing hearthstone! Good luck on your new activities
