posted a message on Reckoning bug?

    lol

I mean, it's more than 3 damage, so I guess working as intended, even if it is your own minion you are hurting.

The triggers for the damage to the minion must be based on the minion doing the damage to itself. From a technical standpoint that makes sense, since the minion itself is the one constant variable when the minion is played and the damage needs to be triggered.

It also makes sense since it's a battlecry when the minion is played. So that also sets the origination to your minion itself.

It gets played, it's battlecry triggers, it does the 6 damage to itself, Reckoning notices more than 3 damage being done and triggers.

It makes sense (even if it doesn't make sense).

posted a message on Forged in the Barrens Decks - Mini Set Edition

Even 1 deck emerging as new and strong means it shakes up the Meta significantly.

1 new deck is stronger against certain decks and weak against certain other decks, which means those decks playrate and success changes with the new good deck.

You don't need a full expansion worth of new cards to change up a Meta. Even a handful will do if it propels new decks to the top.

It's an organic thing, that shifts and warps, not a static thing where only 1 thing changes if 1 good deck emerges.

posted a message on Grandmasters 2021 Season 1 Playoffs - Results & Decklists!

This is, to put it mildly, poppycock. These are the decks for Grandmasters 2021 Season 1 Week 1, which was 9 weeks ago (as opposed to 4 months):

    NoHandsGamer:

Control Priest, with Spellweaver Malygos and C'thun
Watchpost Rogue (Remember Watchposts? They got nerfed. Good times)
Libram Paladin, with Taelan Fordring and Penflingers (Remember Penflingers? They got nerfed. Good times)
Spell Mage, with double Flamestrike, and only 1 Ring Toss and 1 Combustion, and 1 Cone of Cold?!

    Thijs:

Control Warlock (Remember Warlocks? People thought they were good once upon a time. Good times)
    Watchpost Rogue (see above)
Libram Paladin (With KAzakus in the list, even though there's a great risk of having him be disabled due to Libram Discounts. People thought this was a good idea at that point. THIS DECK HELPED WIN THIS WEEK)
Spell Mage (Thijs version runs actual secrets instead of Ring Toss, bless him)

    Alutemu:

    Watchpost Rogue (again, see above)
Control Priest (With Ysera as it's only win condition and relying on spell generation otherwise. It also runs a natural Shadow Word : Death. People did this back then. AND WON.)
    Libram Paladin (see above)
Spell Mage (Double Flamestrike and a natural ICe Barrier. No Ring Toss in the deck. At all.)

    https://www.hearthpwn.com/news/8169-grandmasters-2021-week-1-results-decklists

So, total count of the winners:

    3x Spell Mage
    3x Libram Paladin
    3x Watchpost Rogue
    2x Control Priest
    1x Control Warlock

    This Week's Winners:

    3x Miracle Rogue
    2x Rush Warrior
    2x Control Priest
    2x OTK Demon Hunter
    1x Token Druid
    1x Face Hunter
    1x Spell Mage

And even the most the same deck, Spell Mage, saw crucial differences in how the deck is built. (also, only 1 Spell Mage this week that actually won, compared to Week 1 Spell Mage (that was with Deck of Lunacy at 2 mana. Remember that? It got nerfed. Good times)

posted a message on Grandmasters 2021 Season 1 Playoffs - Results & Decklists!

xBlyzes being so salty he ragequit his last game is part of a season where he already didn't show himself as a professional in some ways. Can't say I'm impressed with him.

Good for Frenetic though. He earned his spot at World's. As did Nalguidan and Posesi.

The latter 2 have made huge strides the past year. They went from being a bit of a joke in their region to impressing with their play.

Just goes to show that everyone can get better in this game if they dedicate themselves to it, even at the GM level.

posted a message on Grandmasters 2021: Season 1 Playoffs - Preview & Standings

The way it works ( it IS confusing):

NoHandsGamer finished 1st in Americas and has a bye. Rami and Eddie finished lower and need to compete in the early bracket. Muzzy was the last place to get into the Playoffs and is in the Losers bracket to start.

The way it then plays out:

    • The winner of Rami vs Eddie (let's call that player 1) plays NoHandsGamer, and the winner of NoHandsGamer vs that player moves on to the Semi Finals as the top seed.
    • The loser of Rami vs Eddie (let's call that player 2) plays Muzzy, and the loser of that match is eliminated.
    • The winner of the match with Muzzy vs Rami/Eddie loser (let's call that player 4) plays the loser of the NoHandsGamer vs the Rami/Eddie winner (let's call that player 3). The winner of that game will also move on to the Semis, but as the lower seed (meaning they have to play whoever finished as the top seed from Group B)

    So the matches are:

Rami vs Eddie (winner is player 1, loser is player 2)
Player 1 vs NoHandsGamer (loser is player 3) - Winner to Semis
Player 2 vs Muzzy (winner is player 4) - loser eliminated
Player 3 vs Player 4 - Winner to Semis, loser eliminated

The same is true for Group B, but replace NHG with Lunaloveee, replace Rami and Eddie with Dreadeye and Nalguidan and finally replace Muzzy with Fled.

As you can see it is a very lengthy explanation and it might STILL not be clear to some people. It felt more appropriate to not put this long winded talk in the news post.

posted a message on Wailing Caverns Mini Set - More New Cards

You can get these by buying the bundle and get all of them for a fixed price OR you can open them from the normal Forged in the Barrens packs. They will get added to the existing cards in those.

    Same. LOVE this card.

    For those unfamiliar:

Savory Deviate Delight was made with fish and a cooking recipe found in the Barrens. The effect of eating the dish was that you transformed into a Ninja or a Pirate visually (among other effects).

This was unique in early World of Warcraft as not many things did this. It is and was iconic for the Barrens and they captured the spirit of it beautifully.

As a side note: I have special fond memories about Deviate Delight, as it was a recipe I lucked into when I was a noob (it's a really common drop now but not back then) and spent many hours fishing in the Barrens in the pools there to capture the fish, cook them with my recipe and turn it into GOLD on the AH where rich players paid handsomely for stacks of the dish at a time. It was how I earned enough gold to buy everything I needed, including riding and my mount.
