    Quote from Spier20 >>

Do we keep the new cards in the core set after rotation\ or can we play with them in Wild?? or we need to put dust only dust to make them :(

The Core set is FREE. You can use it in both Standard and Wild. IT will only be active this Year of the Gryphon and then be replaced. Any cards in it that you do not own will be gone then, unless they are also part of the new Core set for the next Rotation year.

    Quote from Wyvernium >>

So correct me if I'm wrong, there's gonna be a core set, a standard rotation set and wild right?

     It will work like this:

Standard: Core set + Ashes of OUtland + Scholomance Academy + Darkmoon Faire + Forged in the Barrens

Wild: Basic & Classic, but renamed to Legacy set + Hall of Fame + Core Set + Forged in the Barrens and every other card set ever

Classic: Basic & CLassic, but with the cards returned to their 2014 state.

All 3 game modes will have a casual and a Ranked ladder. All 3 will give rewards at the end of the month.

I almost never concede. Crazy stuff happens, and in the mean time I can work on quests I have or my opponents have. I've had a few memorable comebacks this way. :)

posted a message on Is there an ideal disenchant strategy given the coming changes to the game?
    Quote from Neko_Tamo >>

Like supposedly everyone is getting a full classic set for free. Does this mean those of us who already have a full set can just DE it all and have our collection replenished by the change? If not then does it mean a guy who starts playing a day before the change won't get a full collection for free but a guy who starts the day after will. Would suck to be the former guy then :P

Also the cards we will get with Core set, are they ours to keep? If so I could DE my copies of the only (so far) known Core card, Shadowform, and get it back for free. Or maybe they will disappear at the end of the year leaving us with only the cards we had to begin with.

It is rather confusing, but potentially that is a lot of dust. Though I am probably misunderstanding it :D

PS. Ideally provide sources along with your claims so I can verify them.

I think basically everything you said and assumed is wrong.

There will be a dual process:

    1) the current Basic and Classic set will be renamed "Legacy" and will be moved to Wild. You will not get any dust for this move, as it is part of the usual and expected move of sets to Wild, which never give dust either.

    2) there will be an introduction of a "Core" set. This set will be free. This set will not be able to be disenchanted. This set will contain copies of cards from the Basic and Classic set, as well as cards from Wild, as well as totally new cards.

This Core set will last for the whole year, and then next year, when rotation of sets to Wild happens again, the Core set will be replaced by a new Core set of free and temporary cards.

IF you choose to disenchant the Legacy card set, you will gain some dust, but lose those cards in every game mode, EXCEPT the free, temporary copies that are part of the Core set. When that Core set changes however, you may, or may not have access to those cards again. That totally depends on what cards will be part of the replacement Core set.

I hope this solves some of your very damaging understandings and questions.

Play Shaman, play all the totem buffs, play splitting axe, play both crabs and patches but here's the better cards that almost no one plays: Lightning Breath is a pretty much a 3 mana flamestrike that wins you the game on the spot and then Dragonmaw Poacher is always an 8/8 with rush.

No one expects Lightning Breath. It's glorious. Inspired suggestion!

posted a message on Those of you who have been playing HS since the beginning

If you had asked this 1 or 2 years ago I would have said less, but Blizzard have worked hard on creating more ways to play and done a lot more to balance the game regularly and shift the Meta and not let it get stale for months on end. I feel it's a better game now and I enjoy it more.

posted a message on what will happen to DH basic cards?

Disclaimer: I don't know the answer to the question posed in the OP.

The DH got introduced with 2 card sets:

    a 10 card Basic set: https://www.hearthpwn.com/cards?filter-premium=1&filter-set=2&filter-class=16384&display=3

    and

    a 20 card Initiate set: https://www.hearthpwn.com/cards?filter-premium=1&filter-set=1500&display=3

The Initiate set was supposed to be a replacement for the Classic set and the 3 active Standard expansions that other classes had access to, but DH did not. It was already announced on introduction that with the upcoming rotation that the Initiate set would be replaced with an Evergreen set that would be a more permanent replacement. It gave the team a year to look at balance and see what holes needed to be filled in the DH set.

As it turns out, the whole idea of a Classic or evergreen set is going away, so with it goes the DH Initiate and Basic sets, replaced, just like every other class, with the new Core set.

So I don't know what Blizz will do exactly with the Initiate set. It's not part of Legacy, but it IS getting replaced. Where it ends up is a good question, to which I have no answer.

posted a message on Does dusting classic cards before rotation make sense?
    Quote from brother >>

I probably should have clarified this beforehand, but as a standard-only player, meaning that whatever core cards get phased out won’t be relevant to me as they’ll be replaced by new ones, then disenchanting classic cards would really just be free dust.

With Classic now being a thing, there's every chance that Blizz will experiment with more similar game modes. I;d hate to have dusted my collection if Blizz suddenly announces they'll do a Classic mode for unnerfed Whispers of the Old Gods expansion and every card you had and every deck you had is now usuable again.

Blizzard is also announcing a new game mode somewhere (supposed to come out in the current expansion's time frame) which may or may not use cards from all sets. Duels already uses cards from (potentially) all sets. Blizzard has every reason to make sure that old cards stay somewhat relevant and not just in Wild.

It means cards retain some value and people don;t just do what you do and actually buy card packs instead of dusting a bunch and crafting. It also means people are more likely to invest in some old packs if there's a bunch of cards they need from certain expansions.

You are free to dust away obviously, but limiting yourself to playing Hearthstone JUST in Standard constructed seems like a way to grow bored much more quickly and leave yourself with far fewer options.

And dusting is SUCH a waste of resources. You get back so little compared to what it costs in the first place. To me personally, I;d rather have the option to use the cards again at some point then get the measly little bit of dust back.

    Also any compensation at all?

     Nope.

And about dusting the collection: You only get to USE the new Core set. After the year is over and the rotation happens we will get a new Core set and the old one just evaporates. Dusting cards you own cause they are in the Core set means that 1 year later you might suddenly be 50+ cards short.

Dusting cards is almost always the wrong choice, unless you have more of them than you can use.

lol, true, but gold can also be used to buy other things, like Card Backs etc. I think Blizz would want to limit it to getting card packs.
