I hate that this game is treated as a serious competitive game.
Point well taken btw. I wasn't being critical; more of an observation.
It just seems that there are quite a few people (not you necessarily) that continue to complain about the game but, for some reason, continue to post comment after comment.
I was just curious as to why people keep coming back to the game if they seem to hate it so much...
Because people like to bitch, it really is that simple. The number of people I've seen they're going to quite yet you see them around for months after is crazy.
The number of people I've seen that defend this kid's game as if they are being payed is crazy. I already made my decision. Grinding and logging in everyday for 4 months just to player 2 weeks of fun is not worth it. I prefer to play a more serious game like starcraft. Not this luck based game.
this game sucks. I will just throw 4k of gold into this expansion to play for 2 weeks ( the only time this game is fun). And then I'll leave. There are better games out there
they just happen to have nothing else to do than to play this kid's game all day. HS sucks, this game is getting worse and worse each expansion.
Holy Salt Batman! If you hate this "kid's game" so much, why don't you just quit. O_o
I hate that this game is treated as a serious competitive game. And yes, I already quit. I will just throw 4k of gold and 8k dust when the expansion hits to play the only 2 weeks worth of HS and I'll leave.
I don't know how this game is even played seriously at a competitive level... I bet I can have a 50% win percentage against those guys. They all play the same decks we play, they just happen to have nothing else to do than to play this kid's game all day. HS sucks, this game is getting worse and worse each expansion. A pure form of rng fiesta
No. I will throw 4k gold to buy packs, still, I had enough of this game. If this expansion does not work out as it should, I will quit this game forever. This is the last chance
It always happens, a new expansion hits! The first 2 weeks are awesome, new decks, no one has really figured out the meta yet, then everything stabilizes and that's it. Now I stop playing ranked games and proceed to play arenas. Then I don't want to spend more gold, at this point I already have 7k of dust sitting there doing nothing. Now ranked is boring af, just 3 different decks played game after game. This last month I just logged into the game for the daily quest. A new expansion hits, everyone hypes and it starts all over again, with the hope that somehow this time will be different. This is nonsense, I won't be preordering this time.
This thread Is incredibly relevant to the situation. My posts especially
To sum up though, it's not "HS being a loop of denial" its you realizing that what you are doing right now isn't enjoyable to you.
From here you need to ask the question: "What am I playing for?" Is coming into the game something you like or a chore you have to push through? If the latter, what's this chore actually accomplishing? Look ahead. Do you actually SEE enjoyment down the road, or are you working to get better at something you don't like?
If it's for those 2 weeks of fun, really, is running a chore for 3 months WORTH those 2 weeks? Can you really not find something as enjoyable that lasts for longer?
Perhaps it's just the way you play. Myself I asked that question back in Un'goro and found that it wasn't HS I disliked but the worry about ranked standard. Playing meta decks to try to rank up bored me and there wasn't really anything at the higher ranks that appealed enough to warrant the sludge. So I stopped caring about ranking and went to Wild. In exact, I went back to mass creating decks. Then I asked "what am I playing for?" looked at those decks and said "this. I play for THIS."
I'm back in Standard with KFC but beacuse I enjoy the decks I make here. I don't play the game much (never have) but when I do I'm engaged and wanting to make a new deck or seeing how well a particular one is running. I'm having fun, NOW. Thus I stayed.
I've asked the question in other games, found I couldn't answer it, and left. That includes games I've played for years, games I've dumped money into, games I had friends in, ext. Even games where I could see something fun up ahead, I would rather have fun NOW than 'work' to find fun later. I have real important things I could do ot 'work for enjoy later'. I won't do it here. I don't even buy the "It can get better." There's games that are already 'better'. I don't have to wait for the game I'm playing now to get better, not if I'm hating it now. 'waiting' is for folks who like it but want more. Folks who don't like it should be finding things they do like and MAYBE coming back later.
(if the mechancis make it impossible to come back later without 'upkeep' then don't come back. That's their flaw for making such a system, not your burden to worry over that upkeep.)
So really are you enjoying your time here? If not, is it really worth it for those 2 weeks? If not, isn't there something you DO enjoy you could do instead?
You don't have to deem this game a hoax or everyone in denial of the problems here? it doesn't matter if we are all having fun or faking ourselves. What matters is What The #($) are You Doing?
Do you like it here? If not is there something you can do here to ike it? If not isn't there something you DO like that you should be doing instead?
If the final one, we'll be fine. Go, leave this behind and enjoy yourself.
You just described it perfectly. To sum it up, the only reasons I still play this game are because: 1) I don't want to be left behind: I have invested so much time in this game, I have all the meta cards, I have too much dust, it is just because of the effort I made that I don't want to leave. 2) I only enjoy arena.
You are right, I spend months playing this game just to enjoy a couple of weeks. I need to rethink if I want to continue playing HS in the near future.

Competitive pro gamers in HS LUL. Anyone who takes this game that serious hasn't realized this is just a kid's game

Rank 20, this game is getting boring and boring each day. I just log in and make the quest.

They nerf this but they leave untouched the almighty Ultimate Infestation ... wtf

I was thinking in a Bloodbloom weapon effect
