posted a message on Rewards Track "Resets Next Expansion" -- on November 17?
    Quote from P4dge >>

They aren't going to release an entire track of rewards that is only available for 4 days or however long it is. It clearly includes packs and rewards that are related to the upcoming expansion.

Maybe it's my legal training that makes me not fully trust what is "clearly" assumable when opposed to what is documented. I know Blizzard is a company that has never made a mistake, so I guess I should be more trusting.

Too snarky? I'm not meaning to fight. I think you are right that they mean the 2021 expansion. I just want Blizzard to express it more clearly, and I am asking if they did clarify outside of the game since the message inside the game expresses the opposite on its face.

posted a message on Is Hearthstone worth getting back into?

I have been debating this myself. I stopped playing a couple expansions ago, and this latest expansion has me tempted again. I went ahead and got the free mage deck, and I've been having fun climbing the lower ranks with it. I always have fun playing the game...my problem is that I don't play enough to earn enough to really experiment with different decks.

I don't want HS to be the only game I play, and I don't want to spend money on pre-orders anymore. I have always been dissatisfied with the cards I get from pre-orders as my luck with pulling useful legendaries is abysmal.

Still, I have enough dust and gold saved that I'll see what is a fun deck and craft it. I also have some Wild decks that may only need a few new cards, so I may chase those as well.

TL;DR, I'll be playing a little and staying in touch with the game as Blizzard continues to announce changes this year. I don't expect the game to change to fit my lifestyle, but I don't see spending any money or significant time on the game unless I get more for my money.

posted a message on Genn & Baku--nerf idea

Since there are no original ideas left in the universe, I will not say I have a new idea. Rather, I will say, do you think this is a viable way to alter Genn Greymane and Baku the Mooneater?

Include on their text, "Draw this minion on turn #. It must be played that turn. Battlecry: Gain your hero's original hero power."

    # equals the mana cost of the card.

This change would make the enhanced hero power temporary to give an early-game advantage that wears off in the mid-game.

This could be combined with a change of Genn's and Baku's stats and cost. For example, Baku could be changed to a 7 mana 5/6 card so that the hero power is guaranteed to change back on turn 7.

I am not sure of the balancing of Genn's and Baku's mana cost or stats--I will leave that for folks smarter than I. The idea seems sound to me, though.

I know Blizzard does not like wordy, complex cards, but this change allows the even and odd decks to exist without being a nuisance for the remainder of Hearthstone's existence.

*Made a minor edit to the post to clarify that the battlecry only applies to changing the hero power.

posted a message on Budget paladin lich king deck

Wow, I was hesitant to try murlocs because I dusted my Warleaders after the nerf. I had been trying with Dragonhawk buffs, but never got it to work. I then saw some budget murloc decks claiming to work, tried it and beat Lich King on my first try.

My deck was modified from this, but I give this deck credit for showing me budget murlocs are possible. I basically had a perfect curve to defeat Lich King on Turn 6. I took out a lot of the non-murlocs and bad murlocs to focus on buffs to control the board and protect the Murloc Tidecaller.

Turn 1: Murloc Tidecaller. LK did not coin out any minions and only played Fallen Champions.

Turn 2: Grimscale Oracle, Grimscale Oracle. LK played Val'kyr Shadowguard (LUCKY!)

Turn 3: Rockpool Hunter. LK played Coldwraith.

Turn 4: Truesilver Champion. LK played Water Elemental.

Turn 5: Potion of Heroism on Murloc Tidecaller + Bluegill Warrior. LK played Sludge Belcher.

Turn 6: Blessing of Kings on Grimscale Oracle. LETHAL!

posted a message on Designer Insights: Upcoming Arena Changes - New Cards and Pick Rules

Interesting changes. For the power level, I wonder how often they will be making adjustments to how they determine the power level of cards. Do they have a tier list algorithm like Grinning Goat / Lightforge? Are they going to give us any info on those power levels? Are they still going to do micro-adjusts? Many questions, but glad they are trying something like this.

posted a message on Are Average Joe players like us able to home brew decks any more?

I am able to homebrew decks and be competitive at lower ranks (20-10). I never have the time to devote to a Legend push. My challenge (complaint?) is that it is too expensive to experiment with the fun/competitive cards.

I live vicariously through Kibler and some other streamers who try things like Evolve Shaman and Elemental Shaman, but I cannot bring myself to spend hard earned dust on cards like Kalimos. The amount of epics and legendaries needed to try a number of fun decks these days is just too rich for my blood.

Instead, I lower my expectations and remain happy with cheaper decks like Zoolock. Then I maybe can craft the epics and legendaries for another cool deck that I know is going to work. That does not leave me with a bunch of dust to experiment with other strategies.

Everything I said above is how I feel post Patches nerf. Before then, I refused to craft Corridor Creeper and I couldn't afford Cubelock or Raza Priest. I only played to complete quests and get the monthly cardback for a number of months. I did not find HS very fun. Now, I'm back in and enjoying the meta diversity.

posted a message on My free weapon was runespear, how can i put it to use?

We need a "My free Legendary Weapon was The Runespear support group. I'll start:

Hi, my name is viStringTheory, and...*fights back tears*...I received The Runespear.

I like that Blizzard gives away a free legendary, so I can't complain, but it still feelsbatman to be 1/9 of the population to get the worst one. I did receive Gul'Dan for KFT, so at least that one is playable.

I also do not own some of the other Shaman legendaries (like the Death Knight or Hallazeal), and I do not want to craft them just to experiment with Runespear.

Okay, that's enough. Anymore venting and I'll need to move this to the Salt thread.

posted a message on What order did you follow for the LK challenge?

I tried Mage first blind. At that time, I thought that the Lich King would be the same for all classes. I quickly found murlocs were a strategy and Warlock was easy with Seadevil Stinger. Most decks were aggro and murlocs due to needing to burst down before 7 mana with my limited collection. Kill Command, Bloodlust, Savage Roar were my friends. Paladin I pulled off an OTK. Warrior I cheesed with Kel'Thuzad. Mage I tried many strategies, but after getting frustrated late one night, I just rushed him down.

    IIRC, my order was: 1) Warlock, 2) Priest, 3) Rogue, 4) Hunter, 5) Shaman, 6) Warrior, 7) Druid, 8) Mage, 9) Paladin

posted a message on Is Hearthstone Pay to Win?

Personally, I can win enough with a couple decks without paying. However, I cannot have fun playing and experimenting with multiple decks and strategies unless I pay time or money more than I can afford to spend on one game.

I don't mean to be a negative nancy but that Maiev Shadowsong artwork is pretty bad...Having more of a close up side profile holding up her glaive would have been way better. It just seems very ''meh'' this portrait.

I agree that the art is not exciting. It is nice to see Maiev is not overly sexualized, but I would like a more interesting pose. Perhaps the art is not yet final.
