PhatJohny posted a message on Reworked Illidan?Posted in: Fan CreationsHey, guys, as a long time blizzard fan, it really hurt to see such an incredible character like Illidan Stormrage get so little play, so I reworked him to be something I think makes him more useful, and makes more sense lore-wise.
Making a flame of Azzinoth didn't make much sense. But we all know he wielded the twin warglaives of Azzinoth that he took from the demon Azzinoth during the war of the ancients. Since there are two of them, I think I found a way to weave that essence into his card.

Introduction
Hey guys,
Welcome to my Monk Concept!
First, a little personal introduction. I play hearthstone as one of my main two games, League of Legends being my other game (as you might be able to tell from the profile pic). In terms of other blizzard games, I play diablo from time to time, but I have never played and never intend to play WoW, despite how my name looks.I've been creating concepts for games ever since I started playing them, starting out with class ideas for maplestory in like 6-8th grade, then moving into champion ideas for League of Legends, and now I'm currently focused on card and class concepts for hearthstone, with some ideas for smaller games that I play/used to play here and there. I read this suuuper long guide to League of Legends champion design (converts to about a 700 page book), which is my unofficial source for most of my design philosophy. I made a guide for maplestory class creation (which, looking back on it, was pretty bad), and I intended to make a syntax guide for hearthstone, although I'm not really sure I'll ever get around to doing it. I have also made a concept for a game, what would have been my ideal mmorpg. It got to about 40 pages in google docs, then I restarted it, and now it sits gathering dust at around 10 pages.
I like hearthstone design so much because it's not hard to get started -- just get on hearthcards.net and go. It has the detail and balance of League designs, but much simpler and easy to enjoy. The other thing that's amazing is the community. Back in my maplestory days, I met two other people on the forums that were interested in class design. Just two. I sat and hoped that I would get even a single comment on the things I worked so hard on, but I was just disappointed most of the time. It was really lonely, and pretty depressing that my one way of being creative was so obscure and unpopular, as opposed to the artists, writers, etc (even today, it still makes me pretty sad). I moved into League, and then into hearthstone, and it's absolutely amazing to see that one of my creations has 4,000 views and 60 responses - I can't even describe the feeling.
Now, about this concept. I started working on version 1.0 of monk over a year ago, which then got scrapped by v1.3 due to it being absolutely terrible. Interest got revived once for a week last october, then crushed (technically, this would then be monk v3, but v"2" was so short I don't count it). I started on this one again last November, and 2.0 was done by January after about two months of work, when I posted it on the main hearthstone reddit. It got mixed reviews, and it felt like a pretty big failure. Motivation came back in February and then stuck in march for v2.3, and I've been working on it pretty consistently since v2.4. Getting to v2.7 was my big milestone, got the thread reorganized and stuff, and now I'm planning to take it back to reddit and see how it has improved, either during 2.7 or once I hit 2.8. In total, starting from v2.0, I've spent 6 months thinking about this thing, putting it up there on my list of "most time spent on stuff".
Time for some boring disclaimer-y things (not sure if you would call these disclaimers, but close enough.)
Some other stuff:
- None of the artwork is mine.
- This is not meant as a proposition to Blizzard, just as a concept for fun, to see how well it would work if it were in the game. Not that I would be against Blizzard implementing this, that would be like a dream come true, but I'm not expecting or intending for that to happen.
- I don't play WoW, I've used WoWWiki and the help of others to try to get the names/flavor.
- Keep in mind that nothing here is a final draft and feedback, compliments, criticism, questions, or ideas for cards are welcome.
- Feedback is MUCH APPRECIATED. It's in caps because it's probably the single most important thing that I want any reader to know. It's what keeps this idea evolving, and what gives me the motivation to create.
Special Thanks to
- My friends, who help me with internal card balancing and stuff like that. Just the fact that I have people who will listen to me about the crap I create makes all the difference.
- Frozen_Inferno_1, who has given me a TON of feedback and gave invaluable help with monk flavor.
- Katsuni (the author of the design guide I read), for all the knowledge and inspiration.
- Most importantly, anyone who has commented, viewed, +1'd or done anything to this thread here, or to any of my card ideas, or to anything I've ever created -- I hope I'm getting across how important you guys are to me.
Playtesting
Update! Mcf4rtson has made this mod all nice and pretty. Now it's a standalone folder. Download it, put it anywhere, then run Hearthstone Mod.exe (obviously, it's much simpler). A full tutorial on how to add cards and stuff will be coming this weekend.
Here's the old guide:And without further ado (well, a little bit more depending on what you came here to read), my Monk Concept!
Monk Overview
I designed all the cards of monk with some central themes in mind:
- Pandarens. (Duh).
- An early game playstyle. Lots of low cost minions and spells.
- Lots of low-cost spells resembling their martial arts techniques, to be used in combos.
- A good amount of card draw, and adding new copies of cards directly to your hand to compliment how fast you use them.
- Discounts on cards at the cost of making them harder to use (As opposed to warlock, who discounts cards by hurting himself). Examples include Focus, Spinning Crane Kick, Touch of Death
- Although more focused on spell control, does have cards aimed at token/having a lot of minions gameplay.
- Healing, to compliment Focus.
- Mana cost reduction flavor.
Hero
The hero is Chen Stormstout.
The hero power is Eminence.
- Game Start: Is trouble brewing?
- Greetings: Heyo!
- Well Played: Well Played!
- Oops: Ehm.. uh... huh?
- Sorry: So, so sorry.
- Threaten: Feel the might of Pandaria!
- Thanks: Thank you!
- Attacking: For Pandaria!
- Running out of time: What? Time already?
- Selection quote in arena: This will make a great story!
(All other emotes are standard and the words are the same across all classes)
Note that Eminence's heal is targeted, like priest's, but the attack goes to your hero.
Focus
Monk's class mechanic is Focus. Quite simply, it does something while a minion is at full health. In-game, it would read: "While this minion is undamaged, it has a new power." Like Enrage, it applies an aura effect that is cancelled if the minion is damaged.
Cards
The cards will be arranged by set -> minions/spells/weapons -> rarity -> mana cost -> alphabetical order (ish). Cards with a border are uncollectible, and are usually spawned by the previous card.
There are a total of 36 cards: 10 basics; 6 expert set commons, 5 expert set rares, 3 expert set epics, 1 expert set legendary; 1 naxxramus common; 2 GvG commons, 3 GvG rares, 2 GvG epics, 1 GvG legendary; 1 black rock mountain common, and 1 black rock mountain rare.
HERE is the imgur album, the cards are all together below.

Explanations
Some of the cards here may sound ambiguous, or have certain behaviors that may not be obvious. They will all be listed in this spoiler.
Touch of Death: Touch of death will look for the highest current health out of all the minions you control, and use that as its comparison.
Tiger Strikes: Deals 1 damage to a target, then deals one damage to the same target again. Scales doubly with Spell Damage and "whenever this takes damage" effects, such as Acolyte of Pain.
Fists of Fury: It's like arcane missiles for 5 damage, but confined to a group of 3 minions. As such, it can't hit the enemy hero. If you casted it when your opponent only had one minion, it will deal 5 damage to that minion.
Lorewalker: The effect carries across turns. Does nothing if you haven't cast a spell this game.
Shaohao's Call: Each Blessing is valued at about 4 and 1/2 mana. Once adding it to your hand for 2 mana, you still have to pay another 3.
Breath of Yu'lon: Because this is the only Monk secret, the enemy will know what it is. However, they will not know which character you put it on. This secret will prevent the damage that triggers it, heal the target of the damage and your hero. Using the secret on the hero will heal you for double.
Legacy of the White Tiger: Costs 2 if you control 1 minion. Costs 8 if you control 7.
Wild Mistweaver: Each missile will count as a separate heal (Lightwarden :o)
Pandaren Mechanic: Because the effect is a focus, you will keep having to re-heal this minion to continue buffing your mechs.
Aysa Cloudsinger: Monk spells are all of the collectible class spells for monk, from the basic, expert, gvg and naxx sets, not some special set of cards like Dream cards.

chemicader posted a message on Public Custom Adventure Workshop!Posted in: Fan CreationsHello! I have been thinking of making an adventure for a while now, but I have dreaded the size of the task at hand, so I decided to make it public! This means that anyone can participate and add their own suggestions. The actual adventure will be posted here on the OP as it comes along. The time per each step is vague, and not set yet anyways. We are at the first step as of now.
Here is our to-do list for now:
Step 1: Theme. It must be warcraft related. The ones I have been pondering on are Karazhan, a Burning Legion themed one (Making warlocks OP naturally.), Elemental one (Consisting of Throne of the Four Winds, Firelands, Deepholme and Abyssal Plane.) Other possibilities would be something like Warlords of Draenor, Icecrown Citadel, etc.Our theme has been decided on and it will be Karazhan.Step 2: Bosses.
Deciding on which bosses we are doing, making the hero portraits, Hero Powers and the encounters themselves ready. Some useful info: http://www.wowwiki.com/Karazhan
Boss list behind the next spoiler tag, rest of the phases under the next ones.
Wing 1

robpcom3 posted a message on Moonkin, why not? (spell druid wishlist)Posted in: DruidMoonkin could be a legendary minion like Jaraxxus, or a simple druid spell power minion, or something like shadowform. Honestly I don't care what, but it was my favorite part of playing druid on WoW.
If it was like cost 9 legendary like Jaraxxus, having it's hero power be something like star fire/star fall would be great.
And I'd like some more druid spells( why none in the most recent expansion?) ex: Thorns, Faerie fire, Typhoon, Rejuvenate, Hurricane.
And while were at it, shouldn't Ysera be a druid card, or Druids get some special way to summon her/synergize with her? It would help the dragon druid that everyone hoped would emerge during this new expansion.
I guess I will keep emerald dreaming.
