VeiledSyn posted a message on Concede When WinningPosted in: General DiscussionQuote from F2P_GoodLuck »Sometimes it is a just a nod of thanks for a fun or interesting game. Really, how valuable is one win in the grand scheme of things?
For example I played a Casual game yesterday against user who was testing a Ultra High-end Curve Ramp Druid (Ysera, Deathwing, Onyxia, Rag, Boom, Nozdormu, KT, etc) and they had a superb start: Wild Growth, Wild Growth, Nourish in opening hand.
I had an equally good start and thanks to a few Unstable Portal minions, favorable RNG and some amazing Mirror Entity results I finally had a turn with lethal. I 2x fireballed my own face and used emotes to say, "Well Played,"and "Thanks" instead of taking the win. The entertainment was well worth the cost of a win. In fact we chatted a bit after the game just to exchange pleasantries before continuing on with more games.
I am glad that there are other people out there too who can actually enjoy the game for more than just winning. (Posting this in addition to my post on the first page)
It's kinda amuses me how many people in this thread said they can't see a single reason why they would concede a win... The way I see it:
It's like I have won possibly 1000's of games.... A win comes around about every 15-20 minutes. But a truly great game, where not only do both players play well, but they both draw well and it's doesn't feel like the game had any real RNG BS.... That comes around maybe twice a week, I would gladly pay with a loss for games like that, Casual or Ranked... Legend or just climbing. I am all for winning, but that is really a by product of trying to have fun, and too many have this cause and effect reversed.
It's just as a way to say thank you for 1) Not being a dick and rope burning because you fought so hard and end up losing (this happens so often), 2) Enjoying the match and the strategy more than winning a match (again, wins happen all the time), and 3) Not auto-squelching, being friendly, and not taking the first couple emotes as an insult rather than just friendly banter (Too salty, too quickly. When if we were face to face there would be friendly chit chat.).
That is the main reason, but like a couple others have said, if I see someone playing a brand new all basic deck and you can obviously tell their new in Casual... I will give them the win there too. It's not fair if I am playing my 5 legendary deck to finish a quest quick and you're sending in Silverback Patriarchs, LOL... Of course, everything I just said is pretty much null and void if they are playing a face/rush deck, I am fine with a true Tempo/MidRange deck though.

VeiledSyn posted a message on Concede When WinningPosted in: General DiscussionI've done it a few times, not often though. Not as a joke or BM, but there have been some really good matches. Where my opponent has made some truly awesome plays, and I've only won because of a perfect top-deck or draws. Yet they fought tooth and nail to the very end... I gave them the win because they really deserved it. I don't do it often, but when it's deserved I don't mind taking a loss as a way of saying VERY WELL PLAYED. I would prefer games of that level where it's a game to remember, over a win, any day of the week. Ranked or Casual, doesn't matter.
It's those kind of games where you both are trying really hard, yet having fun and sending friendly emotes back and fourth such as 'Well Played' and 'Thanks'. You don't find many good sports playing that are of good skill and don't take their games so personally. Players who get more enjoyment from a very tough/close game than from winning.

Demonocrat posted a message on New Card - Core Rager (Hunter Class Card)Posted in: Card DiscussionMeh. Slightly worse Lost Tallstrider most of the time, and casting it with upside means you either are already losing, or already winning. We'll see, I guess, but I can't see this in midrange builds, and I don't hink face hunter is in the market for non-charge four drops.

I've tried him in a mage deck to synergize with antonidas, as well as a warlock demon deck. I wouldn't call either remarkably successful though. but just because he's not particularly useful on a high level doesn't mean he's a bad card necessarily

interestingly, this seems to be the 1st class card we can be pretty certain about which wing it will come from (arachnid). I suppose maybe the warrior one leans military, and perhaps druid in plague, but those seems slightly less certain anyway.

he also specifically mentioned Gothik, so that's a confirmed boss. he named another later I think, but I don't know anything about Warcraft/WoW, and I don't see any in the potential list that sound like what I heard him say, so not sure what it was
