Oh look, another pirate warrior post, yes, yes it is.
I'm playing jade druid, which I know is loathed by the community, but I just wanted to share my experience.
I go second, 4 cards in hand, all 4 were bad, so they all get tossed. I draw Raven Idol, Living Roots, Wrath, and Jade Idol. With this truly amazing hand, I was super stoked. I had just played this guy and he beat me bad, revenge would be swift. He opens with standard pirates, Southsea Deckhand, which calls Patches the Pirate. I tempo the absolute hell out of the board after drawing innervate, casting a total of 5 spells on turn 1 (disgusting, right? It gets better). As I have the dominant board, he simply Axes my face, pathetic. Over the next two turns I discover Innervate and top deck an Arcane Giant. This amounts to a turn three 8/8 in stats. Truly Amazing.
I think you know where this is going.
As he upgrades his axe and beats me up a little, I notice that my health is already at 18. After slamming charger into charger (which I clear) my opponent plays Arcanite Reaper, and I feel a sinking feeling in my stomach. as I go down to 8 life, he sits comfortably at nine, savoring the Leeroy Jenkins burning a hole in my soul. As he knocks me to the pit, I feel part of myself die and regret every decision I've made in life up to this point.
All this to say...
I would make the card cost 30, but any damage taken to your hero permanently reduces the cost, so if you were to heal, the cost would be unaffected. This would be in line with Blizz not wanting 2 massive cards on turn 5 (in warlock, shamans are allowed,) while still leaving it open as a possibility.
This is not fun, not skill based, and not worth it. It's nothing like real chess, there's an aspect of draw involved, immediately adding a luck factor. On top of this, his hero power is insane, and yours is really only useful to undo mistakes until the endgame. Additionally, you get less cards, making the challenge that much harder. Both with 16 cards would've been a fair challenge, encouraging board control and minion placement. With him having 30, its reliant on drawing you're active minions, and not the pawns as they are mostly just fodder for his attacks and power. My advice is to keep your Knights next to your bishops so you can get repeated use. Also, have a Rook and your Queen ready to kill his RIGHT AWAY. If he plays his queen first, restart.
I've been joking with friends about what a funny card would be for Donald Trump, if your curious with what I came up with- you can find it here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPiUjU2n0p0 (includes entry quotes and animation!) What are your funny Donald Trump Cards?
