I think this is either due to the fact that your opponent played the secrets before you played your Sword of Justice or because (maybe) the "on summon" checks/effects (Sword of Justice) happen after "on play" checks/effects (Mirror Entity).
Wow you are smarts indeed!!! Good explanation, I think it went exactly like this as well.
I'm probably wrong about this but I don't see why does it matter for Mirron Entity if the target has 0 hp? Yes, it would die right away but that doesn't seem a problem, what if for example Blizzard would do a 0 hp minion you would play only for a Battlecry, should it be immune from Mirror Entity?
It is possible that this behavior is not intended, indeed,
However, it's likely that they don't want players to feel like Mirror Entity was wasted on a dead minion in a very likely to happen scenario such as:
>>your opponent plays a minion - it's killed by your Explosive Runes or even by a randomly generated Snipe - then your Mirror Entity triggers only to give you the death animation of the minion you just copied.
That sounds accurate though I'm curious if that was a hidden fix they had to sneak in at around BRM. I can't think of an interaction before then that would result in having a damage doing secret AND mirror entity on the same mage (classic, GvG, and Naxx doesn't offer the mage a way to get a Snipe, but TGT has Nafarian which can pull Snipe from a hunter.
It's not a natural interaction since Explosive runes and Entity are in the same trigger so a 0 health minion wouldn't be killed at that point (thus why SoJ saved them since that's ALSO of the same trigger) so NATURALLY the entity should still target the minion unless it's told to ignore 0 health creatures. That feature is natural (it's why Vengeful Wrath doesn't keep hitting 0 health creatures) but as above, it's not a situation that would normally occur with Entity when the card was made. So either someone was forwad thinking and put it in Just In Case or when someone found the problem when troubleshooting Nefarian before releaseing BRM.
Or else the 0 health entity summon happened and no one noticed before they hotfixed it. Blizzard was even worse at talking about bug fixes then and we didn't have folks like Toast bug hunting like crazy at the time.
Maybe there is a more general condition that was from the beginning in the code. Something like "if a minion has 0 or less health then it is not a valid target for anything anymore". This also fits with the fact that cards like Mad Bomber or Arcane Missiles do not ever bring a minion to less than 0 health while Defile does.
I think this is either due to the fact that your opponent played the secrets before you played your Sword of Justice or because (maybe) the "on summon" checks/effects (Sword of Justice) happen after "on play" checks/effects (Mirror Entity).

Is "Costs health instead of mana" a viable phrase for this? I can't think of any other cards that have this besides Bloodbloom, Cho'gall and Seadevil Stinger

My guess is that the events went like this:
You played Stonehill Defender- activated the Explosive Runes - now Stonehill Defender is a 1/0 - Mirror Entity checks and does not trigger on a 0 health minion because it would automatically die - then the Sword of Justice effect triggers making your Stonehill Defender a 2/1.
I think this is either due to the fact that your opponent played the secrets before you played your Sword of Justice or because (maybe) the "on summon" checks/effects (Sword of Justice) happen after "on play" checks/effects (Mirror Entity).

The rare phrase used is "a friendly minion loses Divine Shield ". This was seen before only in Bolvar, Fireblood and Light's Sorrow .

Flavour: If you're not careful with your Secrets , things could go really rogue.

Freeze Shaman and chill?
A great tool for Control Freeze Shaman. Would work well with cards such as Voodoo Hexxer , Cryostasis or Frost Shock .
