Only reason TBK isn't used nowadays is because the biggest taunt minion most decks will have is Sludge Belcher, and you can see why that wouldn't work out very well for TBK. Should the meta slow down from aggro-midrange to midrange-control (likely given the direction of the currently released cards for this expansion), then bigger taunts (like this) become more appealing and thus TBK also becomes more appealing. He'll always be most relevant right when you'd want him, the benefit of being a tech card.
Plus he's a hard check that helps prevent cards like this from ever really dominating. Can't build a deck around a massive Taunt creature and expect it to be tier 1 with such an efficient answer to your play existing as a neutral. Exactly the same case made with BGH and anything over 6 attack nowadays.

The why is because of the Chess event in Kara in World of Warcraft. It's named after the Kara raid event. A good name for the card if you ask me.

Pure N'Zoth deck card. It's not not good enough for anything else.
If it pulls N'Zoth, you sap/bounce the 1/1 N'Zoth. Even a board clear does not worry you as the 1/1 exists only for the deathrattle.

Fool's Bane is a great response to cards like:
Muster for Battle
Force of Nature
Unleash the Hounds - assuming it's not comboed the same turn.
Feral Spirit - if played later game
Multiple Shaman totems
Keeping the Paladin Hero power dead - We all know that can get out of hand if they BoK it on the following turn.
Wobbling Runts - it's deathrattle
Savannah Highmane - it's deathrattle
Soul of the Forest - it's deathrattle
And others.
This Fool's Bane is not a great card but it is a great responce to those flood the board with mutiple weak minions cards. Situational at best but in those specific situations, any warrior can our armour 6-8 damage lost to kill them and potentially saved even more damage as those weakies are often later buffed hard.
This weapon is not a Brawl replacement. It compliments it. You do not want to brawl the above mentioned weakies. You'd rather Brawl for a fat ass minion filled board. The weapon clears the weakies much better. This weapin is not anti face rush though as 5 mana is much to high and slow of a cost to be useful for that.
Also Fool's Bane combos with Frothing Berserker very well when killing the above mentioned weakie minions with this weapon.

Vs a Priest this is always a 4/4. Think about that for a second.

He meant worst as in this is about a C+ card and all the other Shaman OG cards are A or better. This was needed though as Shaman were the worst class for a reason. It needed better cards.

Warlocks always discard nothing though, from an empty hand. Warlocks have been abusing this discard exploit since Hearthstone was invented. Even with that exploit in place, this card is not that good honestly. Maybe for a rushlock or handlock that got a bad mulligan. But that's about it.
