Pretty much this. Cant get the value of anything when playing minion based mage, and every version just feels slower or less powerful than pala/lock. Or in case when I played spiteful mage, it's just a worse version of Priest/Druid. Control mage just gets owned by Shaman.
Gonna try exodia and few more, but not holding my breath on those...
@Delfunk83, I agree, that card has potential. It can disrupt Cubelock which I proved to my self with Tortollan Primalis when I was messing with it. And this is much better since it's on 4, and it's only secrets.
Well the thing is my version of Big spell mage is, except the "Big spell" part and Jaina, different from most of them out there. Tried fitting Ice Block and my win rate plummeted cause I had to fit the secrete package that ruined my game plan.
Played few version with Pyroblast and it was useful. Either for high roll on Dragons Fury or actually closing the game. Tho cause I played Medivh it was slow, on that I agree. Have few ideas on why it can fit. Either cause high roll Spiteful Summoner or one is to ignore the lack of Firelands Portal and fit value with Servant of Kalimos (which I had in few version to out last Cube/Control locks).
But my current version is Medivh'less and has Bright-Eyed Scout. Few thins are achieved with that. 1. I have a 4 drop 2. What ever I draw is on curve (can back lash), example is playing Frost Lich Jaina on 5 or having a clear board on 10 with Dragons Fury + 5 cost Dragoncaller Alanna. <--best things that can happen. 3. Everything else is fine too, I dont mind having Blizzard on 5 also
Anywho, point is the archetype is not dead, mage is not dead. Before secret mage was cool, everyone dissed me it was bad, turned it was good. Even before this current XPAC it was smooth sailing to Rank 5 when Jades where a thing. It's not mages problem that Blizzard pushes some classes to god like status
Big spell mage is not losing anything imo. I am playing a version without Iceblock since the start with great success. Portal can be replaced with Pyroblast and if you need value cards, you can fit either elementals, Spiteful Summoner or Sindragosa.
Also minion mage might just work cause you can get discount on the extra copies with Leyline Manipulator
1. Cubelock still tier1 (pushing S) - lost N'zoth, but gained some awesome cards too, still will be oppressive and will limit deck diversity cause it's THE deck to beat.
2. Shaman and Paladin will be mostly likely the other two tier 1 decks - in which from is to be seen
3.Tier 2 decks will be Hand Druid, Control Mage, Priest variants (tho priest lingers between tier 1 and 2), Control Warrior (odd or even)
4.Tier 3 will be filled with Elemental/minion Mage decks (they are slow and cant push out Cubelock, hence cant compete), poor Hunter will be here cause no more Barns and Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound, other tools seem just slow.
At some point, probably too late, Blizzard will notice that power level of cards that cheat out huge minions (aka cheat the mana curve) are bad for the game and will nerf Possessed Lackey. But it will follow some nerfs that will just kill Cubelock completely cause thats what they do....
Just a question. How do you folks plan on keep your hand free and not overdraw? With the combos you guys suggest, it's pretty much "draw 6 cards". Since I do like Ele mage, and play it for the lulz, I can pretty much say you do not have neither mana nor time to play all the cards you get.
I could see this be used in a combo situation, but in pure minion and specially elemental environment, dont see it happening at all.
Tho, only some insane Leyline Manipulator value can be obtained, but again...hardly
And getting an echo card out of a discover (if we get one) is not gonna be easy. Atm, only playable discover is gonna be Primordial Glyph. Sooo bulding a deck around it atm is only a dream
Anyone actually having a decent win rate with this? After I gave a try I've lost ranks not vice versa. While this deck can win vs pirate warriors if lucky, in most match ups I've lost even with perfect hands. Kabal lacky is mostly a dead card unless I want a turn 3 "frost bolt" and later on in the game deck is missing any kind of aoe removal. Adding at least 2 meteors sounds much better and had much more luck with those.

Well since I managed to OTK an OTK deck I am glad xD

Sounds awesome, thus Blizzard wont do it, or anything of the sort :(

Gonna try this, when the XPAC comes out, seems fun.
Also, maybe spiteful now becomes a real thing. My initial take is this. Have few version built around this:

Kay, well:

Leyline Manipulator works in this deck too, all the extra minions you get, you can discount them

Yes aggro was here before patches, it's gonna be here w/o him. But currently he is one of the main reason why aggro decks are dis gud

Sarcasm aside, there are more cancer aggro decks atm so no need for salt

RNG is what kills the fun -.-!! Winning or losing just cause someone high rolls.
RNG = skill in Blizzards eyes. Damn I hate this game soo much atm cause of this
