you must not have been playing long enough to understand that this is forced into a dragon deck as oasis snapjaw beats this out if you don't have a dragon in hand.  even in a dragon deck you still need to draw the dragon which is doable but this is also something that can get silenced and your opponent will then leave your 2/6 to do nothing as they pummel you.  also you did point out a weakness.  it is not a power creep but as new cards come out the beat out certain old cards.  with a dragon in hand this is a better sen'jin shieldmasta and without is a worse oasis snapjaw.  it is good for a 4 mana card and it's sligtly above average stats if the battlecry is met makes it worthy of it's rarity.

the main thing that disuades me from using this is the 3 health. maybe i am wrong but i would maybe want a 6/3 to ram into something as opposed to being something most aoe spells can kill.  the upgraded hero power is nice but maybe charge would make it better or is that just too OP?

so this card's ability seems nice but i feel the 3 health makes it a weak card (as flamestrike could kill it along with your other minions against a mage and bash in mirror matches). for a 4 drop i guess it might be ok but i see people saying it would be better as foe reaper where it is bulkier than more damage.  maybe because it is a warrior card i guess but i am not sure.  feels like a card you throw charge on but thats just me.  honestly it would have been better to release this card: http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/14704-drakonid-slayer

it's stats are ok for a 2 mana card so it is nice imo even without the the charge.  with the charge and attack bonus it is amazing for a 2 drop.  i was actually surprised to see this though when it came out because i didn't think Blizzard would help out dragon warrior as much as other decks.  still this helps a lot as an early game card for dragon warrior since your opponent will have to waste some resources that would be better suited for your dragons.

i find mortal strike fine and don't understand why people would dislike it.  do they only know of control warrior? aggro decks would just love this but my real concern is 12 is kinda low. i feel 14 would be a bit more suitable for the 6 damage.

i like simply because warriors needed a low cost damage card.  i like the armor bonus as well since this is better than the warlock's drain life as armor can be stacked at whatever health while healing can only heal up to 30.  overall very good in both aggro and control as a lot of popular minions have 3 or less health.

while yes you could lose battlecry minions you also might not. he is good and bad for control warrior as most if not all control warrior use other battlecry minions.  still if you pull a few non-battlecry minions then you went plus.  overall he is a decent card and his true strength ends up as to how you build your deck.  a variety of control warriors will use him and another will not.

so the way Varian works is cards added to the hand are considered drawn and thus proc all draw card effects be it theirs or anothers.  however cards placed onto the field instantly are not and thus do not proc card effects be it sea reaver or chromagus.
