Seriously?
-All community cries about bad state of game(drood/priest/ladder state) and blizzard remain silent. Literally ~0 feedback.
-One guy asks why malfurion and valeera portrait is "toned down" and gets pretty huge post about whole philosophy of animating golden cards, and why portraits is toned.

DiViNE_Priest posted a message on 3 Things Hearthstone can learn from Gwent!Posted in: General DiscussionAt the moment, Gwent is still in Beta, and Hearthstone has been out for Years. Through my Hundreds of hours spent on both games, I love them both. Currently I think they are both great games, while I prefer Gwent overall, I think they both have a lot to learn from each other. These are just 3 things I think Hearthstone really needs to learn from Gwent if it wants to stay on top!
1: Card Acquisition/ Rewards
As you already know Cards are the biggest part of collectible card games. I've bought Card packs, and I have Free To Play accounts on Both games. My F2P account on Hearthstone is about a year old. With casual grinding I only have 2 decks that are somewhat viable on Ladder. So playing on that account is super boring, because without buying packs it is completely obnoxious just thinking about Grinding because you get about 1 pack in a day of grinding, and the quest system is terrible for F2P accounts because most of them can't be completed if you don't have a deck to win games with for certain Heroes. Winning 30 Ranked Games for 1 Card Pack is just a real slap in the face.
On my Gwent F2P account It is reasonable because the rewards system is based on WINNING only. Each game is 3 rounds, and the rewards system is based on how many rounds you win that day and has a Cap. On that account I can get 3-4 Kegs(Card packs) if I grind all day. Which is reasonable, not to mention you are never screwed over by packs because you get to SELECT the 5th card in the pack out of 3 options.
2 RNG
RNG is a really healthy thing for a card game. But their is a distinct difference between good and bad RNG. For example in Hearthstone Kabal Chemist and Xaril, Poisoned Mind is what I would consider Good or acceptable RNG. It has a range of possibilities that aren't impossible to predict or play around, and for the most part "High Rolling" isn't so swingy with them. Swashburglar and Stonehill Defender are examples of Bad RNG. They have such a massive and unpredictable range, and a Highroll like Stonehill Defender into Tirion Fordring or Sunkeeper Tarim can literally just outright win you the game.
Gwent does a good job of making sure all the cards have effects that are predictable and that Random effects dont have the potential to just win you the game or have such a wide range of variance that your opponent can not play around all of the possibilities.
3: Meta/Hero Identity
Hero Identity may not seem like that big of a deal but it makes a huge difference. In Hearthstone just about every class has access to the same effects, tools and abilities as every other class. Priest is supposed to be the Healing type class, yet Paladin has way better Healing cards than Priest. Hunter is supposed to be the Premier aggressive class but Warrior does it better. Warrior is supposed to be about Tenacity with Armor and Taunts, yet Paladin has the best Taunt minions. So now none of the classes really feel that unique.
In Gwent, every Faction has a completely unique set of playstyles that no other Faction has access too. Skellige can resurrect allies from their graveyard while no other class can. Scoiatel has cards that Mulligan cards while no other class can. Monsters has cards that consume other cards while no other class can. It makes every faction feel different and fresh to play and play against,
This sort of ties into #1 but Hearthstone have a terrible tendency of having a set of strong auto include cards, and set powerful decks, and basically everything else is trash. Like literally overall, I'd say at least 75% of the cards in Hearthstone are Trash to Unplayable. And like 5-10% of the cards are just undeniably better than them. This combined with how difficult it is to obtain cards, and you have a Stale meta of only like 2 or 3 viable decks that kind of shit on everything else.
In Gwent I can't name a single card that is just unplayable. Every card is viable and their isnt a single deck that is just completely oppressive every class has multiple viable decks capable of reaching the Highest ranks. So card packs are always valuable because all of the cards are viable, and the meta is never like Hearthstone where you just literally feel like quitting because of Broken meta decks.
