There are also some Resurrect Decks that are doing well. Zetalot has reached as high as 30s Legend with one. Here's one he's played recently. It takes Control Warrior to the woodshed.
Being a Priest player, almost exclusively, I would agree that Priest did get a shit done of value, I don't think there's a bad card in the lot. Having said that, I think it will take a while for Priest to emerge/break through the current meta.
I can see at leat three possible routes:
A solid midrange deck, zoo to start, control the board with sticky minions and Arms, shuffle a bunch of cards back into your deck via Spirit of the Dead, Surrender to Madness and Quest Hero power for the late game.
A better Resurrect deck with Blatant Decoy, Penance, Holy Ripple.
A OTK/cycle deck with High Priest Amet, Stonetusk Boar, Divine, Divine, Innerfire/topsy for 28 damage, adding chip damage with reborn and things like mech bombs or Kobold Sandtrooper, and the usual pyro, acolyte, northshire, circle shenanigans
And I would think that the Quest will be used in almost all Priest decks.
But, the Priest one also HEALS FOR 3, there is no restriction on the minion type it can buff, in other words, there is no comparison to Dinomancy, Obelisk's Eye is far and away better.
I keep thinking about this card and wanting to like it, but this requires a 'Barnes or Onyx' like deck building restriction OR you play a more tempo based/Aggro priest deck instead. Moving Mind Blast to the HOF removes that possibility in Standard though.
If I build my deck to be high value death rattle cards, then this card can be and will be very good. It will require a silence or transform out of my opponent. But I am not sure how this deck building would work.
Do I take the Harvest Golem avenue? Turn 3 Harvest Golem. I get lots of value when I play Psychopomp, but is that value worth it? So i was thinking a different path. What about no token Death rattles, because I want to avoid getting a 2/1 with no real abilities?
So in Standard, as of right now, what are good Deathrattle effects, that I can play in the early game that I would purposely play a badly statted 4 drop in my deck?
Or I build it like a Onyx deck and play nothing but removal and spells until the mid or late game. Then I use Psychopomp to get Onyx like value out of my dead minions?
So this card doesn't end up ever being played on turn 4, but when one of my big dudes bites the dust. Turns 6 and later. That's a tough sell for this card. If it had Taunt, at least it could protect your resurrected minion or offer a minor speed bump.
I really don't want card draw, unless I am doing some OTK deck or combo deck. I could do board removal and board control at least...
On turn 3, play Kaboom Bot. Then they kill it, then play minions AFTER so Kaboom Bot did nothing the first time. I then play Psychopomp and it gives me a Doomsayer like effect. The opponent HAS to kill my minions with spells and can't commit to the board, or I will simply trade in.
How am I surviving without playing minions before turn 5 though?
I think it relies on there being more cards in this set to support it. I personally have zero faith in that being the case, Team Oblivious have a hate for Priest and looking at the cards released so far (and the order released) I'm thinking we may have another Purify like debacle on our hands.
I will eventually get it using blizz account$$ I make playing WoW. It will keep my collection more or less up to date, but I've uninstalled the game for now and don't plan on playing again until Priest gets relevant again.
Go play wild. You can use big priest to farm easy wins as long as you don't mind dedicating time to the game.
As far as standard goes, priest is and has been dead outside of the odd OTk build that pops now every now and again in the meta. If you're into otk's, priest usually has at least 1 viable deck. If not, then priest is still dead, and looks like it will be for the foreseeable future. Again, Otk builds aside.
Ugh, I can't play Wild, the game needs to be fresh.

This is literally a Basic card, so it's not supposed to be good.
hmm, then by that flawed logic they should be replacing Frostbolt, Fireball, Tundra Rhino, Animal Companion all with "not suppose to be good cards" as well.

All of the neutrals, I find them the most interesting part of the reveal process.

FYI, the idiots at Blizzard will nerf Priest and mage, won't touch Warrior.

Now we need the nerfs! Bring them on!

I've uninstalled the game and haven't looked back, and I feel great!

Unless there is a Hero or major help for Priest they can stick it where the sun don't shine.
