posted a message on Why is it called Tempo Demon Hunter when it's a Face Demon Hunter deck?
    Quote from sanchogrande >>

Why do we call the popular DH deck "tempo". Isn't it a face deck? It doesn't trade at all. Maybe I don't understand what "tempo" means.

That is a lot of rubbish to be honest. As others have mentioned before not only the deck does a lot of trading, it RELIES on keeping the board on your side until you can safely start sending everything face, as at this point you will most likely have a 2 turn lethal.

I think a lot of people have misunderstood this deck from the very beginning. It’s not a face deck, most definitely not face hunter, and there are actually many many little decisions throughout the game that can backfire really badly. Knowing when to flip the switch and give up the board is very important and clearly the majority of people still hasn’t understood it.

Can we all have a moment of silence for this guy. Clearly he is in no state to play at the moment. Not sure if he’s an user, but if you are you might want to make sure your plays are 100% correct before spamming ‘oooops’ to what in your eyes is a misplay on my side.

Don’t have the replay but according to him the misplay was burning a portal because my board was full even though if 5/7 of my minions survived I would have lethaled him 100% of the time with double roar which, my friend, if your opponent drew 24 cards and used only one fungal fortunes is pretty much a guarantee.

    These people are hilarious.

posted a message on Stuck at diamond 2; any advice to reach legend?

First and foremost, change your mindset. If you’ve been stuck at diamond 5 the whole month that’s because it’s where you belong. You might still be hitting legend with a good enough win streak but this will likely get you a legendary and an extra card pack and put you exactly in the same spot next month.

If it’s literally your only personal goal within the game then fair enough, but don’t see hitting legend as your goal. Becoming a better player should be your goal. Hitting legend is a consequence. It comes naturally as your skills develop as a player.

Stop focusing on your rank and focus on your play every single turn. Ask yourself if that is really the best play you can make on that specific turn, how does it stack up against your opponent’s play on his next turn and how it impacts board state, hand, tempo and life totals. Always check for lethals late in the game, sometimes you’re so focused on clearing the board or not dying that it flies over your head.

I only play one day, reach diamond 5 and that's enough Heartstone for me for the whole month. Then I only do dailies. Nobody said "I'm struck in silver/gold" around here. I repeat, game is shallow, not complex and RNGfiesta and anyone can reach legend if playing many games. Thijs, Kolento and the others only have much time at their disposal to play the game, that's it.

Dude do you realise your entire post is a massive contradiction?

I understand not everybody plays to try and get to legend and/or top 16 if you find the game shallow why do you bother playing it?

There’s plenty of games out there. I’m sure there’s more rewarding ones around.

If you play to Diamond 5 and do your dailies to accumulate rewards, why not make it to legend then?  It’s literally just a few extra wins, especially with the multiplier and you get an extra pack and a free legendary the first time.

Not everyone can reach legend. That is a fact. Some people are just bad at the game, period. And as I have mentioned there is nothing wrong or bad with that, especially if you do not wish to be competitive and just genuinely like the game.

I know people that have been playing for 5-6 years (some of them on and off, some of them consistently) and still struggle to make legend (some of them never even made it) whilst there’s people that picked up the game in the past year or so and are now playing at Masters/Grandmasters level. Explain to me how that is not evidence that time doesn’t have anything to do with it?

Every competitive game has got a bit of a luck factor, apart from chess and go on top of my head. When it comes to card games especially the fact that you draw a RANDOM card every turn is rng by itself but I bet you have never even entertained the possibility that the top players that are consistently doing well do so by CONSISTENTLY playing better than the rest. Yes they get lucky at some points or extremely unlucky at others but as long as their winrate stays high enough to be up there that doesn’t matter.

What a ******** system. Matchmaking should only be based on rank. If you're in Gold, you only play against players in Gold and so on. That way, the good players will easily make it to higher divisions, and the bad players can work on their skills in the lower divisions. And for the Legend fellows, if they can't find a match, they can be paired with someone one division or two below them. Problem solved.

You are implying "gold" players are better than "silver" players. There are no "good" HS players; game is simple and not very deep ( not to mention the luck factor ) so there's not much skill involved.

Legend players just had more time at their disposal for grinding.

Nonsense. On day 1 there were around 500 people in legend across the 3 servers. I made legend in both Europe and the Americas yesterday, which was day 2. The time you put in doesn’t matter, unless you’re trying for a top16 finish. I am not saying everybody should be able to do that in 1 or 2 days but if you’re stuck at silver or gold for the entire month it’s very safe to say you aren’t a good player -which is fine, maybe you’re new to the game or just not good at card games in general- and telling yourself you have been unlucky will not make you a better one.

I am an absolute nobody but stating that the game is not complex with not much skill involved and that there are no ‘good’ players when there’s tons of people that make a living out of this game is rubbish. Especially when people like Thijs, Kolento and Rdu have been up there for YEARS.

And yet you’ve probably been watching them play this luck-based game for years. How sad.

posted a message on How is wand into 0 mana rogue gala balanced?
    TQuote from TwistedCardmaster >>

Too much randomness always suck. Why do you even give weakness to a class, if randomness can fix it? For example Rogue is pretty good at removing single targets, but he can't deal with wide boards, so it's not bad idea to go wide, instead of playing single threat each turn, right? Well, not anymore, since he can answer with randomly generated Twisting NetherPlague of Death or Brawl...

It's especially annoying and frustrating, when your class can't do the same thing and is rather predictable, so your enemy can play around anything you have (if he only knows the matchup), while you have to rely on luck and can't really think ahead.

Except you just made this scenario up because ethereal lackey can only discover class cards. Brawl and Twisting Nether can be offered by Zephrys if Highlander but Plague of Death is not a thing for rogue. If there’s some way for rogue to actually access it, it involves ridiculous sequencing like cobalt spellkin from draconic lackey into pilfer into plague of death. it just doesn’t happen.

Also every salty soul in here seems to remember only the times where wand/galakrond draws were the absolute nuts and they got steamrolled and not a single game were the draws from a fully invoked Galakrond were Pharaoh Cat, Praise Galakrond, Backstab and Shadowstep and they got the win. It happens far more often than you’d think.

If your class feels boring and predictable, switch decks. There are plenty of decks out there that can do some really nutty sequencing.

Questlock can have a 0 mana draw every turn and blow you out of the game cheating out far bigger threats than rogue (malygos, dqa) whilst zoo can just kill you by turn 5 if they hit imp and your hand is slow.

Druid can kill you by turn 4.

Priest does stuff that is far more retarded than what rogue will ever be able to do.

Too much randomness doesn’t suck, people that can’t deal with it do. If your opponent hasn’t used his Zephrys yes you should play around it and each of its possible outcomes. The same goes with Dragonqueen.

If Galakrond is about to come down you have to accept the fact you may have your board completely flipped by them drawing into faceless/flik/kronx or all three of them because it happens far less than you think. Just look at rogue decklist and work out if there’s more chance of them drawing and discounting their 6+ cards or the other way around.
