posted a message on Pre-order cardback

If you use amazon coins, it is crazy cheap.  You get triple discounts, one when you buy the coins (e.g. Black Friday was 30% off), two because blizz are giving 50 rather than 40 packs, and three because blizz and amazon have a promo to give coins back (about 15%) after purchase.

I am UK and got the pre-order for coins that cost me £21 all-in, substantially less than the 45EUR list price.   For US it would probably be even cheaper as the UK has a high VAT rate.

Deck was created 29/12, so I think this was used for legend in december

@Hatnisch - gratz on hitting legend with this deck, takes some real balls to play crazy stuff at rank 1

The analogy with Grim Patron is actually pretty good.  With the possible exception of playing this for value in control warrior, there isn't an established tier 1 or 2 deck that this simply drops into.

However, its worth looking for a new archetype in which it becomes a lynchpin.  Its going to need a fatigue deck, but then you need some way of not losing if this card, the map or the monkey winds up near the bottom of the deck.

The best shells to start building around are likely similar to fatigue mill rogue or freeze mage, as these decks are (a) among the best at drawing their libraries and (b) have tools to increase the number of cards you have such as gang up, vanish (with tokens), echo and duplicate. Warlock also potentially good because of the rapid card draw.  Playing her with Brann, Shadowstep or pandas is potentially great as you increase the chance of hitting the monkey by adding multiple maps.  Either way, your payoff is the undercosted 6/6 and hoping for 5 or 6 random legends to close out the game with, not trying to win from fatigue damage (rogue) or spell damage (mage).

Her best shell will therefore most likely include all of the LOE legends so far - reno combines well with fatigue, brann doubles her battlecry and finley is great for a mage/rogue/warlock fatigue strategy.

Cant wait to try out some terrible builds with this card!

posted a message on Should older adventures be free for new players?

Doing stuff like giving away free packs for tavern brawl or adding those 50g quests is a subtle way of levelling the playing field by giving newer players a few more resources, freeing up gold to pay for the adventures.

This approach is much fairer than explicitly devaluing the efforts of experienced players by giving away formerly paid content for free.

Kinda cool that you can deliberately play out dragons in hand and then trade him off if you dont want the deathrattle to trigger.

i guess this is an inevitable consequence of the "we don't buff cards" policy.

BB bodyguard is woefully underpowered, so there's no argument of power creep (having a new version of a terrible card is not power creep).  I doubt this card is as good as Senjin but at least it's worth trying as an alternative.

Also, this is common, making it plenty accessible on day 1 to FTP players, in the unlikely event it turns out to be essential.  Why so much whining?  Had it been a legendary 4/5 taunt for 4, I could see the point.

Shouldn't that text be costed as a drawback?  In a normal game, 1 damage to all your minions at a point you can't control is a drawback.

posted a message on New Warlock Card - Dreadsteed

This card is just one new card away from being utterly broken.  If anything is printed that gives perpetual boosts to creatures, this card has to be considered.

Obviously, it's not that powerful with Stormwind Champion and Dire Wolf Alpha, but Warsong (fortunately not available to Warlock) breaks it.  Should any new neutral or warlock card allow you to give minions taunt or charge, this will be a combo piece.

Sadly, it's underwhelming with existing warlock stock - its a shoddy shadowflame target because of it's 1 power, it's a mediocre power overwhelming target as we have better cards already (nerubian egg, imp/spider tokens) and a mediocre void terror enabler as it's so small.

Really unconvinced on Blizz's strategy of only spoiling bad cards.  Hope I'm not going to regret that preorder!

posted a message on Who is throwing money at Blizzard?

I was able to get 700 of 3500 amazon coins back from the TGT pre-order, plus got the standard 10% amazon coins discount

This should be publicized better, as those combine to a 28% discount when buying via amazon coins vs buying direct from Blizz

Edit:  FYI I am based in the UK
