If it was a 0/5 with that ability, I think it would be really good, possibly even broken on t3. Still a dreadful topdeck though.
As it is, I think the vulnerability to whirlwind effects makes it too vulnerable for normal use. But, it might be legitimate tech against decks that just cannot deal with it normally. A free 1/1 every turn (on top of what you were doing anyway) grinds out an advantage surprisingly fast, as anyone who's played darksteed will testify.
Also, stampeding kodo says hi (assuming you can clear the token :p)
Imagine a Fireball or other staple mage spell is in your hand at the start of the game. Is it desirable to trade that for a 1/1 for 1 plus a random mage spell?
Turned out for webspinner that it was actually better to have the 1/1 for 1 and a random beast rather than a "good beast" - but then there weren't enough good beasts to fill a deck. There are a ton of excellent mage spells.
Would have been cute if babbling book had been a 1 mana spell that gave you a 1/1 token plus a random spell (additional spell synergy all over the place). Cabalists Tome is a spell, not a minion, after all.
You're only "paying" taunt for the ability, if you compare it with voidwalker. 1/3 for 1 is comparable to argent squire, which is played in some zoo builds.
The ability could be amazing with the right support, but it needs 2 drops that you really want to play immediately after it to work. It is unlikely to stick around to fire off a Doomguard unless you cast it the same turn on t6. Succubus and Darkshire Librarian are not good enough cards on their own, but maybe we'll see a viable partner for it in the new set - it needs an analogous pairing to Trogg/Totem Golem to be broken. Something like a 3/5 version of Succubus would do nicely.
new name is a silly pun on babbling brook, so I think it wins out over raving book. Not convinced that a random mage card makes up for playing a 1/1 for 1 (so many bad/situational spells), but its clearly amazing if you draw one of the good mage spells and broken with brann. Discover would have made this a staple.
Blizz have acknowledged this and are looking into it. I think the best place to flag this is on the battle net US mobile bug report forum. Threads about IOS issues just get shut down on the battle net EU tech support forum.
At least Blizz are doing something. I will be kicking off a riot if these performance problems gets dismissed as a non-issue or "we can only provide limited support for mobile platforms". Clearly some tweak in the latest patch is just not performant on tablets. No idea why IPhones seem to be immune - probably the menu pages are completely different code.
Would be useful if ppl posted up experiences with different hardware / IOS versions.
My experience:
- IPad 4 running 7.0.3 - terrible performance (but worked fine before update)
- IPhone 6 running 9.2.3 - works great
If anyone's got good performance on an IPhone 4 on a later IOS version, please shout (it might persuade me to do a wipe and upgrade)
Performance problems I encountered:
- long wait to get to play screen from main menu
- long wait to get game, stuttery spinwheel animation
- frequent 0.5-1s waits in game when playing or attacking with minions
- long wait to get back to play screen after a game
Really quite annoyed with blizz for this. HS was a fairly slick experience on my Ipad before (overwhelmingly my favourite way to play over PC and phone) and it's so clunky now it's no fun at all.
After applying the latest patch this morning, I've been getting really poor performance from the HS app - tons of lag in game and long wait times for games.
The site works AOK for me on PC (chrome), but on Ipad (Ipad 4, IOS 7 running Safari), it often slows to a crawl when I scroll down the front page and try to click through to decklists. I haven't experienced problems anywhere other than the decklist section on the front page.
Fiery War Axe is a class defining card, and a reason to play warrior. Would be a shame if blizz felt it had to go the way of Warsong Commander.
Yep. Knight of the wild is trash tier, and it's great that blizz have learned from their early mistake and are now giving us playable cards like Thing from Below using a similar costing mechanic.
I thought Ice Block would crush it at first, but you need a block every turn from turn 3 onwards, so i dont think the maths is in its favour. When I tried I ran out of blocks.
Have only managed to beat mechwarper + leaper in the mirror match so far
Wild might become a thing that people play in the future, so I'm not disenchanting anything for now. The chances of nerfs hitting wild cards seem pretty minimal, so it's probably safe to disenchant duplicates without fear of missing out on full refund values later.

Wow - so cool. I voted "meta defining".
Also acts as a handy inline spell counter if you're wondering about whether or not to cast Yogg

The correct question to ask is something like.
Imagine a Fireball or other staple mage spell is in your hand at the start of the game. Is it desirable to trade that for a 1/1 for 1 plus a random mage spell?

Wow. If an Ipad Air on IOS 9 is b0rked, then blizz have made a royal screw up with this update.
How come there's no riot on the battle net forums? The crowd on there is usually a lot more sensitive.

I'm running an Ipad 4 on EU servers.
After applying the latest patch this morning, I've been getting really poor performance from the HS app - tons of lag in game and long wait times for games.
Can play just fine from PC.
Anyone else get the same thing?

elemental destruction and totem sounds like a troll deck
not even sure it will work if the hunter player sees it coming and plays minions out slowly
