The kind of cosmetic I enjoy is heroes, or different cardbacks. The first is satisfied by lv 50 portraits/alternate portraits (and maaaaaaybe getting sylvanas if they'll sell her for coins...maybe) and the second, well, by winning 5 games a month
Struggling to quote just the part I wanted to respond to...
So a diamond hero portrait that has interactive 3D aspects (think Jaina actually shooting hte fireball from her portrait when you cast it, Rexxar shooting his bow etc) wouldn't be more appealing than the lvl 50 hero portraits in your opinion?
Those of you who vote "no, cosmetics aren't worth money," would you grind more than you do now to get the diamond dust to craft a cosmetic? Or do you find no added enjoyment from cosmetics and it wouldn't entice you to play more even?
Until they fix the actual dust economy, I'm hesitant towards Diamond cosmetics, or any other form, being introduced. We were promised a cheaper way to upgrade from normal cards to Golden ones a century ago; let's get that first, and then talk about the next step.
Also, Hero Portraits don't rotate. Do you mean Hero cards?
Because I highly doubt they'd ever decrease revenue before they had a suitable alternative. Right now their money comes from the poor dust rates and people needing to purchase packs. I think at best we'd get both changes at the same time or more likely the diamond economy first and once they're secure with the revenue stream they lower the other dust costs.
Ideally this would go hand in hand with the new dust economy that allows for more reasonable card costs from regular dust.
Hero portraits don't rotate. That's exactly what I'm saying. Some people would pay for diamond hero portrait specifically because it won't rotate. They wouldn't buy a diamond card because it will eventually rotate and they don't want to "lose" money after the rotation happens (likely someone who has no interest in wild or using the cards in later taverns that allow wild cards to be used).
I think blizzard has a great opportunity to open up their economy and make every legendary have a craftable diamond card as well as new 3D diamond hero portraits. I would make a new in game currency, lets call it diamond dust, that you possibly could grind as an end of month reward but was primarily a purchasable resource. Using this diamond dust you could upgrade any legendary you own to receive a diamond copy. You could disenchant the diamond to receive partial dust back (to prevent just disenchanting to recraft the whole new set each rotation). Additionally you could use diamond dust to craft even more expensive but truly legendary 3D hero portraits that had epic hero power treatment as well. This cosmetic option would serve multiple purposes:
1. It would make legendary cards actually feel legendary and stand out from other golden cards. Even commoners can be golden.
2. It would create a new revenue stream which ideally would allow blizzard to lower the cost of obtaining cards. Compare it to the LoR cosmetic success and ease of obtaining cards that is possible because of it.
3. Most people (poll may prove me wrong) would be willing to purchase a cosmetic of their favorite legendary or hero in diamond if the price point was reasonable.
4. Diamond hero portraits would be the ultimate cosmetic and have the aspect that they will never rotate making it enticing even for players who might shy away from a diamond cosmetic that will "rotate" eventually.
Getting a 3/1 rush besides a 2/1 and a random 5-drop for 5 mana is pretty good IMO. Cool that you mentioned that battlecries dont work and you are referring to a choose one card...
Which wont work either... so what? I hope you craft it golden you ignorant prick.
Call me an ignorant prick, but I'd craft it golden (if only I had a plethora of dust...gathering dust).
This card looks rly bad for the current only spell mage... we have a 0/3 egg , 0/5 obelisk and now a 2/1 from the 5 mana blast spell
Yep, a minion is bad in no-minion mage. And you have successfully spotted the 3 worst rolls. Thanks for your input.
I think he meant it is a nerf to Apexis Blast since it is a new lowroll for that spell if you are playing spell mage. But he isn't considering the new 5 drops that are also coming in that offset their being the 2/1 in the pool. I think overall more good-great 5's have been added to the pool so complaining about one new bad one isn't really necessary. It's a really nice minion to pull from Font of Power if you are spell mage and the pool for Apexis Blast is still fine if not better with the new 5s.
Well you have to get them both in your hand in <8-ish turns to profit. I'm not sure how often it's actually quicker than the current spell ramping. But I am sure people will try to find a way to make it work.

I think they should have been 0/4 just like pagle and cho. They'll see about as much play as them either way.

What do you all think?

This has great synergy with Blademaster Samuro and Overlord Runthak for a taunty handbuff control style warrior.

There were. I distinctly recall multiple special quests that gave like 3 packs a piece during this rewards track cycle.

I mean...you are the one playing secret mage. Sooooo, who is the bad guy really here?

This is the way the design plays out since they started the set rotations. Slowly build up power until the sets rotate out. Rinse. Repeat.

It's actually been really really healthy for the meta. A little (okay, a lot) over tuned? For sure. But it's definitely led to a more healthy meta.
