posted a message on Blizzard not announcing cards for 2 weeks

As badly as I want to see new cards(so badly), I have to admit that there's not much of a building "fever pitch" when there's a steady stream of cards. Un'goro was exciting, but it wasn't a massive deal in that last week until the release happened. Blizzard wants there to be a buildup of excitement, not what they observed, which was a kind of preeeeeeetty good excitement, but just pretty good.

I'd like to see how this method of reveal works, maybe trickle out a few more cards between the initial reveal and the first big card dump for next expansion.

Hi, my name is Sully. It's my first time here at the Group Therapy thread.

One thing I have been a personal issue with is that I have been stuck at rank 18 this whole season (the month of July). Last month, and many month before too, I could easily achieve rank 5, but I am not sure what has been going on with me. All I see on ladder is aggro and secrets, and I really don't want to have to resort playing those decks. Is there a control deck out there that exist to grind out the other deck archetypes.

I've resorted to experimenting with a midrange Dinomancy hunter I found and a dragon control warrior that y buddy built from scratch. It's not perfect, but they're fun and effective options that have 55%+ minimum winrates for me this season.

Here's the Dinomancy Hunter (since dragon control warrior has a number of variants on here for you to play with and try out): https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveHS/comments/6axjvv/top_100_legend_dinomancy_hunter/

Also, I've been working toward trying out a midrange C'thun Paladin that seems interesting, but I haven't tried it yet.

    Best of luck!

Why are cancerous aggro decks in Wild? GO back to standard where you belong. Go back to the format you already ruined. Get the fuck out of Wild.

The takeover started with pirate warrior, then egg druid grew, and now the aggro is malignant and spreading.
Blizzard needs to put out less-costly control cards and more costly aggro cards. Right now, aggro is cheap and fast enough to win 55%+ in both standard and wild.
    It sucks.
Man these fucking cancerous retards change 1-3 cards per deck and call it a "wild" deck. Pirate warrior adds the (broken) Ship's Cannon. That, and Finley are basicly the only changes from Standard PW to Wild PW. I still think my original hypothesis is indeed correct.
Cancerous aggro dipshits enjoy playing against slow decks and auto-winning on T5. There ARE no slow decks in Standard anymore, ergo, they cannot enjoy these 3 minute victories they crave. They all got pushed out by the fact EVERY deck in Standard just wants to win by turn 5. So, all those slower-loving players moved to Wild. HOWEVER: the cancerous dipshits don't enjoy playing against each other. PW VS PW actually DOES have some thought into it. And they hate that. So what do they do? They switch to Wild. Control & slower decks galore, new targets to feast on.
But what happens when players like me decide to quit altogether, due to the cancerous aggro decks? They'll just quit too. They don't enjoy thought-provoking games or resolving cards that cost 6 mana+, so they'll just stop. When that happens, 1 of 2 things will happen: the game will stay stale & dead, watching Token Shaman VS Token Shaman and PW vs aggro druid 24/7 (instead of 22/7 which it is now), OR, the slower players will return and attempt to enjoy the game once again. I sincerely hope for the latter instead of the former.

     Oh gosh, me, too.
I enjoy midrange and aggro, but I hate the meta aggro decks that are out. They are all turn 7 winners that slam face, no interaction. I love Hunter, but I run a Dinomancy midrange build that I found and it's really fun, but sometimes gets run over by hyper aggro with perfect draw or RNG trash plays from Priest and Mage. I want healthy aggro in the mix, not this hyper quick face blasting cancer.

Obviously, we have 130 more cards to see, but I love the concept.

Quest Hunter would be a great deck to see come alive, especially if it could play out with Deathstalker Rexxar

posted a message on What to do to reach rank 10

If you're winning more than 50% of your matches, it's just a numbers game. Simply play a high volume of matches and have 2-3 decks to swap between if you're getting matched repeatedly in unfavorable face-offs.

Burn Mage, Pirate Warrior, Aggro Druid will be the fastest and most effective. The rest is up to you; there's no guaranteeing win streaks or "brain dead" decks. I think these are the closest you'll come in this meta, as they require little in the way of choices, and ranked play doesn't often pose turns that are deeply strategic until rank 10.

That being said, sticking to the meta and only wanting to hit rank the easiest way possible seems like a joyless way to experience the game. I get wanting to rank up, but if you're looking for decks to carry you to certain ranks, you'll soon find that the sheer power of any deck will eventually fail you and require a massive amount of time to compensate for losses if you're seeking rank 5+ (which, once you hit 10, why not reach higher?).

I know a guy who always jumps on tier 1 meta decks, only playing those and dropping them as soon as he hits a wall. He never gets beyond that wall, because he can't devote the time needed to hit legend (he's usually stuck at rank 4-5 on his best seasons). The reason is because his level of skill hasn't grown beyond that wall. You'll find the same in your games, just like I do in mine every season.

I'd recommend that whatever deck(s) you choose to run, make sure they are the following (in order of importance):

    1. FUN! A boring or by-the-numbers deck (hyper aggro is most often this format) is rarely fun, especially once you hit that wall.
    2. Familiar! Know the powerplays in your deck, but familiarize yourself with the unconventional possibilities that can surprise and defeat your opponent. What plays can you make that will force your opponent's next move to be awkward and/or wasteful to eliminate your threat?
    3. Refined! Whether or not you're running a meta deck, you should make sure you've honed it to your style and to address the meta.

I'm sure I could say more but this is going long and I don't want it to sound like I'm trying to educate you. Just make sure you're having fun beyond just winning, put in lots of time to your ranked play, and you should hit 10.

    Best of luck!

Auctioneer Needs to fucking rotate out of Standard finally im so sick of that Card. I really like Rogue but fuck this Card.

Auctioneer absolutely needs to get sent to Hall of Fame. It facilitates Jade Druid infinite value late game and helps rogue stagnate in miracle/miracoli decks. Everyone expected Miracle Rogue to die in Un'Goro, yet one month in, it's back and taking tier 2 meta position. Rogue will never develop new gameplay as long as players can rely on ye olde miracle/miracoli plays after stalling for 6-8 turns. And of course, as long as Blizzard keeps feeding Rogue combo cards without moving Auctioneer out of standard, the cycle continues. Blizzard has all but promised to send freeze mage to wild, but miracle rogue still thrives in standard.
And no, Quest Rogue isn't what we needed for/from rogue, for all you Quest Rogue champions of the cause for hyper aggro. All that did was increase the need for hyper aggro decks or very specific, very difficult-to-play control decks (meaning decks that won't see meta recognition because it's too hard for the majority, myself included) OR "control" decks based off of RNG trash fiestas (I'm looking at you Lyra Priest and Burn/"Control" Mages).
Rogue deserves better than Quest Rogue and the stagnant pool that is Miracle/Miracoli Rogue.

posted a message on The Death Knights Rise - A History of Hearthstone's Newest Heroes

One of the things I love about Hearthstone is how it can expose me to all this rich WoW lore without having to experience the agony (imo) of MMORPG grinding and waiting around for raids. I love the writing and character creation be hind WoW, but having tried multiple MMORPG's (GuildWars 2 came the closest to reeling me in) I can affirmatively say that no amount of interesting story or characters or design or mechanics could ever help me limp along a game that I have to pay to play, then devote a great deal of time to if I want to progress at a speed I deem reasonable.

Summary: Hearthstone lets me enjoy WoW lore lite.

100% Aggro on ladder. Like seriously people who play these boring ass shit decks are not even worth the air they are breathing.

Why would you "play" a game and then pull off these non interactive shitty face decks. You really have to be fucking retarded.

Yea tell me about it. Every game is Pirate warrior / Aggro druid / Pirate Rogue or  any other bullshit face deck
Let's not forget "midrange" hunter, or as it's truly named: face hunter with Savannah Highmane.

posted a message on New Hunter Hero Card Reveal - Deathstalker, Rexxar
    Quote from Tarnoduds >>

At first, this card really seems like garbage, but thinking about it a little bit more... It could actually be something to make Control Hunter viable, not a T1 deck or anything ike that, but maybe T2, fringe at the very least.

It provides 2 things control needs: board wipe and life gain. And even if 6 may sound a little to much to pay, the payoff you get with this new hero power could be quite incredible. Let's not forget Control Warrior gladly paid 6 mana for Justicar Trueheart, a 6/3 minion with no direct impact on th board. And this HP is actually pretty good: controled card draw that guarantees a strong, late game, board threat  that won't push you to fatigue.

I know, I know... CW had lots of good control tools to get to Justicar, but maybe this card (or something else that's spoiled in this set) may be what makes Hunter's own control tools viable.

    Just saying: it COULD happen.

I think in the next expansion after KotFT, we'll truly see this card either redefine hunter or fail. To decry it immediately is foolish, but so is jumping on the hype train (neither of which you're doing, btw) and say that this will finally bring about control hunter, bad as I want it.
Bringing about a control option for hunter is highly unlikely to arise in one expansion. They've built up some options that can be brought together with the right cards, most notably with Un'Goro (Grievous Bite!).
I'm not banking on Deathstalker Rexxar immediately changing hunter into a true multiclass hero instead of stuck in aggro and midrange or running pseudo-control with Yogg Hunter in wild, but if it does, I would be super excited!

Ugh. Priests are simply infuritating to play against. Once upon a time... Secret agent coming through. Secret agent coming through.  Secret agent coming through (Created by Netherspite Historian). Once upon a time... Secret agent coming through (Created by Netherspite Historian). Then they steal all the good cards from your deck, remove your minions. Fuck priests.

Priest right now is essentially stall and steal. I hate facing it because it's so much more about rng turnover with Lyra and Agent than about strategy. It relies so heavily on rng that it bothers me how many people claim it's a skill deck. Control Warrior is a skill deck. Grinder Mage is a skill deck. Current "control" priest? RNG BS fiesta.
     Sorry but I am trigged.
Control warrior is the easiest control deck type to play of all control decks, ever period. You're safe pretty much all the time no worry about anything while other control deck you pray to the RNG Gods all the time, before mass QQ yes I play Control warrior and NOT Quest warrior.
Have you never played any of the current meta on ranked? The aggro is as thick as the RNG of burn mage and Lyra priest. I mean, good on ya for running control warrior now, but saying you're safe all the time with no worries because you're running control warrior just isn't true. Jade outvalues and hyper aggro outpaces. If you're winning 55%+ vs those decks, I would genuinely love to see your build, because either you're a better than average player or you're trying to sell me on unfavorable matchup victories that are incredibly rare to happen in a positive win ratio.
And I do want to stress that I'm not accusing you of lying, I just really want to see this control warrior that's so good in this meta that it means "You're safe pretty much all the time no worry about anything..." because that is a deck I could get behind (I started playing aggro when I joined HS and now I am working on my skills in all major categories - aggro, midrange, and control).

Had I not like hunter as a class, I wouldn't have played 100+ games in 5 days, friend. I thank you for your advices.

What do you think of Rat Pack, DreadscaleDispatch Kodo, I feel like theorycrafting. Which one should I craft? I have Infested Wolfs and it's solid 4 drop which is good for hunter. Not sure about Rat Pack.

edit: now I'm Angry Chicken, yaaay!

rat pack is widely considered a really good card. hit it with a houndmaster, leeok or dire wolf and it becomes a super powerful 3 drop. deadscale is just bad, hunter doesnt have the tools to make a control deck. i run infested wolf on my f2p hunter, its a good card, just not as good as rat pack. dispatch kodo is decent, the battlecry is useful, but for a 4 drop it has really weak stats, i was using dark iron dwarf and found it to be better, sadly no beast tag which is pretty essential in hunter with hyena, kill command, houndmaster and razormaw.
I'd second Rat Pack. Sticky deathrattles are a major force of power in modern midrange hunter. If they can't clear your board, you'll always have beast synergy to work off of, and always have a minion on board to put pressure out. And making them spend removal on minions like Rat Pack burns that as an option for them later, when they'll really need it. If you can build a hunter that churns out board fillers, you'll find your opponents losing focus and clearing minions they don't need to. It's tough, but if you can play your hand conservatively until turn 6 and you still have 1-2 minions on the board, you're set for a pretty good win.
Dreadscale is sadly not particularly relevant right now.
Dispatch Kodo is great, especially when combo'd with Tundra Rhino. I'm particularly interested in what Dispatch Kodo will offer in the Zombeast combos with Deathstalker Rexxar

posted a message on Hunter is terrible

We watched Kibler take hunter matches in legend to a high winrate during Mean Streets, the worst expansion for hunter to-date.

I'm currently running a Dinomancy midrange hunter that is handling ranked quite well (I've been too busy with getting my house ready for my first baby to play much this season), but I've handily reached Rank 15 in two 2-hour play sessions.

My point is that options are out there, and hunter is not a dead class in this meta, just much harder than in the past, which I think is ultimately good. Easy hunter generally means face hunter, and that's never contributed to a particularly healthy meta.

Don't give up on hunter! You can rank with it if you make the right plays. And the new expansion has hinted at a meta shift that could bring hunter out of the doldrums of tier 3 and below without running a face race deck.

Lastly, if you're not having fun while playing hunter, try something else and patiently build up your collection while you wait for Knights of the Frozen Throne to release. No point in playing a class or deck if it's not fun (hopefully, you find fun in not just winning, but playing great matches).
