the problem in my opinion is that the blizzard team makes "packages" with extreme synergy like fx Imp warlock. The decks become so insanely good if you play this package of imps and their utility card that if you don't then you are doing yourself a disfavor. a few of these card may not be a problem as we seen, but overtime more cards will be added to the utility deck like we see in the wild format with discard warlock and now the meta is so fast that you need to build your own deck with one of these packages for yourself to have a chance-- now all the decks look the same because only a handful of the cards in rotation has the synergy in order to compete.
I could write about many more examples but ill end it here for now
There is nothing wrong with "ban everything I don't enjoy losing to" posts, half of the game is losing so it should be a somehow barrable experience and with the introducing of mechanics such as those iv stated in the post the most crucial aspect losing is lost, the evaluation. here begins thoughts like, "should i tech vs aggro" "is the deck too greedy" "do i need more draw" without the evaluation part of the game it is just a glorified slot machine, and not everyone enjoys being a mindless fiend,, so please be considerate, as a reminder this post is not about banning anything from the current standard format, it is about setting up a separate form of hearthstone without all the mindless fiend mechanics that a lot of people don't enjoy
side note, discover is in no shape or form a skill intensive mechanic, what metrics are you even considering?? sounds to me like regurgitated fiend nonsense
I think it is helpful to setup a clear consensus of what is believed to be good and bad design for the game so i don't agree with you at all. it all fits together in a holistic manner so keeping them separate don't make sense
why buy cosmetics? it is such a waste of money and only makes the game you like concentrate its effort in meaningless shallow cosmetics over quallative gameplay expirence
