    Quote from sparkisUS >>

What is it with people and thinking that anecdotal evidence is at all meaningful. Data says this but since I don't experience it that way, screw the data.

Here's are a few choice quotes from the gold standard in the Hearthstone data analysis with 140,000 games to base their info from, not just 25:

"The Meta at legend is actually very diverse"

"[Mage] is currently extremely diverse and seems to possess a lot of potential beyond one playstyle"

"[Paladins are] also boasting quite a bit of diversity"

    "Priest shows nice deck diversity"

    http://www.vicioussyndicate.com/vs-data-reaper-report-44/

There you go buddy. Read up and get educated. Here endeth the lesson.

Ummm. If someone is not experiencing the game that way then it is not anecdotal evidence at all.  It's fact. I know many of you guys jerk off to vicious syndicate and their alleged "data" but fuck them. The bottom line is that the ladder is loaded with many of the same decks. Period. A card or two difference is NOT considered a different deck by most people. This meta is slightly more diverse than the last one but it's still nowhere near where many of us wish it were.  Still a lot of the same netdecks over and over. There, I've educated you back. Friend.

    Quote from Silegy >>

Yesterday I conceded in aggro token druid mirror when my opponent played Raven -Coin -  Raven - Innervate - some more stuff. It's definitely a winnable game if he whiffs on draws, as he played all but 1 card, but do I really care to spend 5-15 minutes to find out? And then lose and be all salty about it? Or do I just admire that dream start of his, concede and go play another one? I choose the latter.

You did the right thing.  No reason to hang on for dear life when the game is NOT well suited for comebacks. Like when a hunter gets a fat scavenging hyena, rogue gets a giant Edwin, quest rogue goes off early, pirate warrior coins into frothing, quest mage is your opponent, etc. there are numerous times when I just bail or quit the app altogether.  Sorry. Fuck you and you're god drawn bull shit deck.  Make them sit there and waste time as you cold kill the app.  Sure, conceding early and often may cost you a game here and there that you could have pulled out but it is FAR more likely that you'll lose anyways and would have now wasted that time when you you could have played another game. Also, you are correct about the salt factor. Losing to some obnoxious deck sucks. Losing to an interesting deck is fine.

    Quote from Mat12345 >>

    Dirty Rat is:

    1. A  very cool card that fits with the Gadgetzan fiction

    2. A card that requires a lot of skill for both players, and that is something HS definatly needs more of. Right now there is too much RNG and braindead aggro

Too much RNG? Dirty rat is the epitome of RNG.  If there are several minions in someone's hand then the rat becomes a dice roll. How is that not RNG? Either way, the card doesn't cost enough for its effect. Like the OP stated, the card can instantly win the game for the person playing it for two lousy mana. If it kills a combo or pulls nzoth.....it's instant concede.  Yeah, yeah, the dream of pulling tirion or  ysera rarely happens and even so that's not an instant loss.  The card requires no skill either.  Cmon. You flick it to the center of the board and hope the RNG is in your favor.  Dumb card. Make it cost more and get rid of the taunt too.

Yeah - sometimes it really can hit hard.  Ive actually been tweaking it a bit though.  Not sure about the 4 mana slot and the Fire Plume Phoenix.  I pulled out one of those and added a Tolvir Stoneshaper for now.  Ya really gotta tweak the deck as you play depending on what you're seeing a lot of.  Sometimes you just dnt have what ya need!

    Quote from PsyyKik >>

The mage quest is fine, the questionable card is and always has been Ice Block, but it's also a class defining, iconic card, so I'm not sure how I'd feel about it's nerfing. It's certainly counterable.

I'm still not even convinced the Rogue quest deck is that good - sure it can blow you out with a godhand, but that's true of any of the fast decks - aggro hunter, warrior, zoo etc. It can feel really unfair, I'll give you that, but then the next time you play one they're struggling to combo at turn 8 and it's over as they've done nothing with their weak 1 and 2 mana minions and even your average slow ass deck is already miles ahead.

Perhaps the mage quest is technically "fine" but the rest of the mage cards and the fact that they almost always draw multiple copies of them is what makes the deck extremely OP and impossible to play against. The game should stay with the rule that you can only play TWO of any card in one game no matter what. If you have discover cards or discover spells then they should NEVER pull a spell  or minion for matter that has been played or drawn twice already. That's the fix that is desperately needed.  It'd be easy to implement too. Two cock sucking ice blocks and 4 -5 total board freezes is plenty fucking enough. It makes the game pure solitaire and is 100% uninteresting and stupid.  So fuck random spell drawing cards. Make them random but make them EXCLUDE cards that have maxed out at two copies. Period. Enough is enough with this unlimited freeze and stall shitfest. And fuck ice block too.
As for playing around ice block....how? Wait, I know, eater of fucking Secrets.  Yeah, RIGHT. Horrible card that is total dead weight against 6-7 other classes, is a lousy body if it doesn't "eat" enough, and wrecks your deck synergy for you having to include  itfor ONE stupid class. The game just doesn't work when you have to run awful tech cards just to maybe counter some damned OP quest deck. Terrible, terrible, terrible game design.
Just make it so you can NEVER play more or draw more than two of any card and the problem goes away. It's fair and reasonable.
I was referring more to Flare, I've seen a quite a few mid range hunters running it last few days. You might say that's only one class card, but it doesn't take many to have a tangible effect on the meta and shift some people away from decks like secret and burst mage, and some effect on quest mage...all solid popular archetypes right now that rely heavily on ice block.
Now Flare is a different ballgame - its a decent card since its no too costly, removes stealth, kills all secrets and draws a card!  THATS what a good tech card ought to be!  Multiple uses & not overcosted.  I like Hunter and when I get around to playing it again this meta Ill use one Flare in my deck for sure.  :)

posted a message on Is there an increase in premature conceding?

Conceding is the best thing you can do to save time and your sanity.  Its bad enough to que into some dickhead pirate face deck or quest mage. Why add t your misery by "sticking it out" only to end up losing anyways but now youve also wasted precious moments of your life youll never get back.  Que up another game and move on.  This game is NOT setup at all for comebacks.  Its purely tempo based for the most part and other than some control decks if you lose the board you lost the game.  Or, if they hit their quest, youre probably done.  In Wild mode you can just concede instantly to renolock and other decks like it that will rob you of a good half hour of your life.  Dont be a sucker.

Ill give each game a *chance* but it isnt long before I say "fuck this" and just concede or quit the app altogether.  Fuck you and your dooshbag quest.  Fuck off with your infinite freeze & ice block.  Fuck off with your perfect draw.  Im out.  If my quitting the app caues you to lose some enjoyment or waste your time then GOOD.  We are even then because you playing a fucking jackoff deck caused me to lose enjoyment and waste time.  Fair enough.

I dont think your win rate is that affected since conceding allows you to play mor games and and if you stick to more favorable matchups and dont waste time on hopeless games you'll probably climb faster.  Ive managed to sit between ranks 5-10 in both game modes using my own decks and I concede early and often.  So yeah - concede or quit the app if things arent going well. Easy decision.

posted a message on Can i ask why Ice block wasn't hall of famed?
    Quote from Okacz >>

They didn't  Hall of Fame cards just because they were too good and played in every deck. Fiery War Axe is still played in every Warrior deck ever.

When it comes to Ice Lance, it was probably a case of the team making a new, interesting card/archetype (possibly for next expansion) and someone noticing that the sleeper card, Ice Lance, could make it way too OP. Imagine a WoW mechanic, Shatter, being introduced, where for instance frozen enemies take double damage. Instead of redesigning the whole archetype, throwing days of work into the trash, they simply Hall of Famed the problematic card.

Ice Block is a different kind of card. It was created with it being OP in mind. Thanks to this thing archetype like Freeze Mage can even exist, and Hall of Faming it would remove a beloved archetype from the game.

Did you just refer to freeze mage as a beloved archetype? Who the fuck loves that obnoxious, boring, non interactive garbage? You might but most people if prompted for a vote would love to see that entire concept removed from the game permanently. It's fucking solitaire.  Totally lame and pointless. Board is frozen for 10 straight turns and then you have to deal with multiple ice blocks. Are you kidding me? I can't even fathom why those that play it get off on it. So boring and useless.  Make ice block NOT effect burst spells. Minions only. That's a start. But they gotta do something....

posted a message on The Rogue Quest, The Caverns Below, is OP. Nerf it already.
    Quote from archdar >>

Nerfing charge will nerf aggro decks. Less to no aggro decks, control will rise. Serious question, do we really want a long fatigue games?

While I do feel that charge can be a problem I also agree with the idea that if this game becomes a ball numbing control fest that it will become unplayable. Maybe some people enjoy 45 minutes games where zero minions survive past one turn and it becomes a fatigue battle. That's boring as shit. As usual, there is a happy medium here somewhere and that's where we need to get.
I actually find this rogue quest more of a hassle due to silence not working and the overly cheap cost of the bounce cards. Shadwostep needs to cost at least one mana if not two.  If the minion gets hexed or sheeped then it stays with its stats, not 5/5.  Or, have it affect only what's on the board at the time to force them to maintain a board. Or something.  I dunno.... the quest is simply too easy to achieve.

A wild mode Legendary and an Epic that doens't do anything close to what I'm asking for? Oh wait, you didn't read the OP.
    Quote from DaemonusVladion >>

Ok so you'd have to kill the "spell taunt" minion before you can cast spells at other targets again?

Yes. You have to kill the Spell Taunt minion before you can target others with spells.
    Quote from hebbe84 >>

It's funny that you should mention quest mage as the target of this terrible idea. Not only is quest mage a bad archetype, but this idea does literally nothing to disrupt their OTK. What exactly is a "spell taunt" going to do against infinite fireballs? Good job OP. Yes, Kappa.

    1. You don't realize how Quest Mage works obviously.
    2. You don't explain why it would be "terrible".

In order for Quest Mage to function, the need to be able to control the board using spells. But if you have Spell Taunt, they'll be wasting their spells on those guys instead of destroying the really good cards in your deck... the same way Taunt has always worked for minions. You could build a much better board against any spell Mage if you knew they couldn't hit your best dudes with Polymorph, Fireball, Frostbolt, etc.

    Use your brain, friend.

Yeah well fuck quest mage. Nothing wrong with cards that calm that disgusting deck down. Love to see a way to block their unlimited freezing spells and ice blocks. It's about time. The game needs more answers to the overpowered questions type of thing. Use your brain. Pretty obvious what deck you are playing. Cancer Mage with unlimited freeze and ice blocks. Most broken shit ever.

Played mostly quest warrior yesterday, and after 5-6 brawls with Dirty Rat (a lot more without him), he always survived. Why complain you might think? Because I have the vague impression that Dirty Rat has a higher than average chance of surviving the Brawl. Today I started out with Elemental Shaman, and now face the other side of it. Full board, opponents play DR with Brawl, and guess what? The damn rat always sticks.

Is this really worth taking a look into, or am I just extremely lucky/unlucky?

I mean....yeah it sucks with brawl. Rarely does the right guy ever live.  Not sure what to tell ya. Hate brawl.

You know how many times I put the fucking thing in my deck only to never see a secret while I have it?
No kidding.  Thats why its unplayable.  This game has a HUGE problem where the "questions" are too costly for the "answers".  Threats are infinitely stronger and cheaper than counter-threats.  Or in the case of fucking Ice Block, there are NO answers.  You get frozen 6 times in a row minimum and then have to pop 3/4 ice blocks.  It sucks the life out of the game.  Just condede and move on if you face a  mage.  Im not handicapping my deck and ruining enjoyment by playing against that solitaire shitfest.

It's not difficult. Unless you're running a netdeck and don't think about what you're playing against.

Even my mage deck has it in!

Yeah, right. That card is a steaming piece of shit like every other tech card in this game.  Its utterly worthless like 95% of the time.  Its a garbage body and has to be drawn at the perfect time.  Even so, since Mage is broken due to being able to pull 3, 4 or even 5 ice blocks you cant possibly deal with ALL of them.  Then, your board gets frozen for like 8 straight turns too.  So wonderful and interactive.  Fucking stupid. Why do people insist on defending it?  Its broken.  It violates the games rules due to being able to have more than two copies of a card played. Its OK if you like playing solitaire.  All good.  But dont try to "sell" everyone else that knows better that somehow its legit.  Its not.  Sorry.  And Eater of Shit doesnt help.  Not even fucking close.

Yeah, go for it. He's pretty good and I get a lot of use out of him in my wild mode recruits deck that runs the stegodorn guy or whatever he's called that adapts your recruits. Also run quartermaster in that deck. Lots of fun. But in any paladin deck he's a good card. Nice 3/7 taunt body and makes a full board totally trade ready. Or, he makes your existing recruits into 3/3 wrecking balls if your opponent can't get rid of the recruits. Great card, IMO.
