I had maybe 60-70% of collection and bought it, no regrets.

Core points are right on, specifically the one about most players playing only a narrow slice of the game.  True and very sad.  But he's wrapped it in such a selfish viewpoint.  Boo hoo, you have to wait for other players to consider their discovers.  He's guilty of the same thing, expecting the game to be all about what he wants.

The problem is mostly the player base. No solving that.

This is all too true.  Players want an easy win, so they can grind, and get easier wins.  BORING! I want creative decks that have unique win conditions.  The fact that you spent all your dust on one T1 deck does not in any way mean you are a better player. I make a bunch (10+) decks so I can maximize my fun, and I still have a great win rate.
This is completely backward.  Your ideal sounds great, but never in history have masses of people tacitly agreed to behave like that.  Masses predictably behave according to how they're incentivized.  Right now they're incentivized to do nothing but win-win-win on ladder, and netdecking and stale metas are as unsurprising as the sun coming up.  Game modes that consistently reward creativity and unique win conditions are the only way to make it happen, and that is of course way out of the players' hands.

posted a message on What's your favourite/least favourite class to play with in Hearthstone and why?

Like Priest because it's bright (and Mage and Paladin) and dislike Shaman (and Warlock and Warrior) because they seem dark, dirty, or otherwise yucky.  And I'm not really kidding.  It was my gut reaction to the theme and even card borders, dumb as it sounds, and subconsciously I'm still sort of bound to it.

A strange game. The only winning move is not to play. How about a nice game of chess?

posted a message on Nobody wants to play tavern brawls. C'mon Blizzard...

Piling on ... speak for yourself.  Ladder grinders just might be insane, pouring hours upon hours into what?  So you can tell people in your lives you made legend in Hearthstone?  Brawl is the only place in HS where I genuinely have fun.

posted a message on I hate this adventure...

    They are long.

I learned a long time ago that when the game made me feel this way, I had to change my objective.  Your feeling that you need that card-back is just going to torture you.  I don't want to belittle the "completist" instinct, but consider how your need for yet another set of pixels to look at has made you waste 5 hours, have no fun, make no progress, with no hope in sight.

posted a message on A random idea: Random Emotes

I complain about emotes a lot.  One of my primary complaints is they use it as a way to inject flavor in the game, with the different voices and phrases.  But we don't use emotes for flavor, we're trying to communicate player to player (not character to character).  So all the phrases just distort what we want to say and it all gets (even more) salty.

So, what if they kept the emotes as they are, but just let the hero characters randomly say stuff to each other?  It could be amusing as hell and we'd start to appreciate the flavor -- i.e. all the work Blizzard put in on doing voice work, etc.  We wouldn't take it so seriously and personally anymore because it's random and it's the characters talking, not us.  And squelch is always there if you don't like it.

To me it's either that, or just take the flavor out and give us half a chance to communicate with some civility.

Just an idle thought as we wait for Kobolds ...

Yeah, it's plenty, but you might decide you're tired of Arena long before it's gone.  Either way you win by waiting on packs until you know what you want to do.

posted a message on There's nothing worse than conceding... and then "Thank you" An Experiment.

Yeah, I know this is controversial, but Thank You is a polite thing to say.  I'd rather get Thank You'd in return than Well Played if it was a one-sided smashing.  I'd rather feel my politeness was accepted rather than getting patronized in return.  See how open this is to interpretation?
