You're right. These new cards are designed for Treachery. They are trash and can't be played without Treachery. Those discard cards, however, are playable without Silverware Golem. Even then, warlock is quite weak now. I don't see any chance Treachery would go into play. It's just a much worser version of Purify.
The chances to hit any face and the minion are the same, so the estimate damage taken by Howlfiend from Spreading Madness is 9/3 = 3 when there are no other minions on the board. However, the actual estimate damage is a bit less than 3 since the minion can't take more than 6 damage. And then your opponent would get a free minion around 3/3 which would take more damage and discard cards (probably only one card) later. If there are more minions on the board, you would probably only hit Howlfiend once or twice.
The average result is:
What you play: 3 cards + 9 mana.
What your opponent gets: 4 cards lost but a free 3/3.
Total result: 9 mana to discard 1 card and give your opponent a free minion.
You don't burn your opponent's hand for no cost. You've already spent 2 cards + 6 mana.
How many cards do you expect your opponent to discard? To be fair, at least 5. You have to either trade with your minions or play more cards, like Spreading Madness, to get the result. And then you would pay more.
Also you can't make sure you can do this every time. Your opponent might have only a few cards, The board is clear and you don't have the minions to trigger it. The card Howlfiend itself is terrible to play without combo.
Are there any other great combos for this card? Doomsayer is great but if a card has only one combo and cannot be played without combo, it will not be playable.
I guess Yogg-Saron would stop casting if it goes to your opponent.
I'm pretty sure the system checks if Yogg-Saron's still on your board everytime a new spell casts. I remember once my Yogg-Saron was killed and revived by Ancestral Spirit, it kept casting spells.
Totally agree. The biggest benefit provided by Evolve is that you can transform low quality minions with high cost. This usually requires you play them within one turn so that the minions would not be killed during your opponent's turn. It's hard to do with the shaman hero card.
Mind Control = 5 mana Assassination + 5 mana Faceless.
This card = delayed Assasination (Corruption) + delayed Faceless.
Corruption costs 1 and still no one uses it. Delayed Faceless is far weaker than an instant Faceless but it costs additional 5 as well as a normal Faceless.
The random +3 Attack is ok but not strong. Even if you have a minion on the board, you might not be able to trade when you want to get the buff. The ability is a little weaker than Black Iron Dwarf's +2 Attack, which is instant and not random. The random +3 is permanent though.
The stats is good. 5 health makes him out of Flamestrike's range.
I guess it would be: Black Iron Dwarf = Cobalt Scalebane > Spiked Hogrider
Really stupid Paladin's quest is. Let say you have 15 buff spells. You would probably finish the quest after 10 turns. The fewer buff spells the later you finish it. But if you have too many buff spells, you would find no minion to play. Besides, most of the buff cards we now have are poor.

Let's calculate what you could do with Howlfiend + Treachery +Spreading Madness.

Wow~ Amazing~ Well played!

Howlfiend + Treachery? Sounds good but actually unplayable.

Are you sure? I haven't seen this yet...

Blizzard said they would not give stupid cards like Purify to Priest again, so they gave this card to Warlock.

Could be used in Aggro druid. Aggro druid summons minions very fast and can buff it into a 2-attack or even 3-attack minion.
1/6 is too weak for Control decks. 3 mana 3/5 is more stable.

Definitely useless.

Anduin: Wow~

Anduin: Potion of Madness.

A pretty good card in Arena. 4/5.
The random +3 Attack is ok but not strong. Even if you have a minion on the board, you might not be able to trade when you want to get the buff. The ability is a little weaker than Black Iron Dwarf's +2 Attack, which is instant and not random. The random +3 is permanent though.

I remember Chinese League of Legends did the same thing before. They sold '7-day ward skin' and then gave buyers a 'random' champion skin.

Worse than Grimy Goons definitely!

When you play a spare part, you probably have lost the game. :)
