I like a lot of the cards that have come out of scholomance academy individually, but I have found this meta to be the most annoying I have experienced thus far. The highest winrate decks, and the most common on ladder, aren't enjoyable to play against. Losing is one thing, but I want to have fun even when I'm losing and that's not happening. Usually there are only one or two really frustrating decks (i hated control warrior with un-nerfed boom and res-priest/most priest decks) ,but right now there are at least 2 that I get tilted cuing into. It feels worse than when Demon Hunter was broken--which I never played myself.
Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to hear if others feel this way.
Personally, I find tortollan mage to be the least fun deck to cue against. It's not interactive and if you aren't playing aggro to push them quick it feels to me like there's nothing you can really do. AND Mage is one of the classes I enjoy playing most. I was surprised to feel that this was more annoying than priest, which I always hate. I guess third on my list is Guardian animals druid. I don't hate it, but the high rolls also aren't great. I personally don't mind losing to aggro decks or libram paladin, those feel fine to me, but thought I would include them.
I find that I'm not playing as much right now because of this. While there are so many interesting decks to build and test, I really don't enjoy playing against those 2/3 decks and it feels like I see them 50% of the time. What are your thoughts? What do you hate the most and why? Or are you loving the meta and think I'm being a whiny beyotchabist?
One play style change that I did in my last few games was to ditch the quest in the mulligan against DH. I found that there were games where I wasn't even attacking with my weapon when I was at 4/5 completion because I wanted the armor gain hero power more in those matches. It feels terrible some games as you draw your questing explorers and kragg, but if you grind those matches out it doesn't matter as much as you think. I think that's the right way to play this deck vs DH. It would be right in some Hunter matchups but since you can't tell what style hunter deck they are playing it's probably not right to do there.
I don't think i've ever dropped Armorsmith on 2. I generally hold her until she's needed or can pull off a huge armor gain turn with risky skipper. The armorsmith risky skipper combo has won me many games.
I do find her worth it. In DH it works well with Priestess to buy a turn for a win. Generally, I find that my life totals with DH are very close and shutting out a big card like that for a turn has won me a few games. Against rogue you need it for Edwin or to get through their taunts for a lethal. Against Druid winged guardians can be annoying. And there are great targets in priest. It's just a high tempo play that often gives you a lethal setup that wouldn't be there otherwise. In general I think Maiev is a great card. You can also just tempo her out and flip the board.
I had maiev specifically to address Edwin, winged guardian, and other various taunts that create some challenges. You could try ironbeak owl as silence helps to a degree, but it’s a pretty low tempo play. I would just try other good cards. Captain greenskin is good in this deck as well or another upgrade or gan’arg. Maybe another bladestorm for removal. Depends upon matchups.
He’s not a core component for the deck to function, but is really a great card with excellent synergy as he can be pulled with Ancharrr and has a lot of immediate impact on the board—clearing a minion and putting up a taunt.
if you don’t have him and want to try the deck I think I’d tech in what it feels like you need for the most common matchups at the time. If you need removal a second bladestorm, warmaul challenger or a brawl could be useful. If you need temp then adding in a dread Corsair might be okay in its place (pull with Ancharrr and a cheap taunt). Grand Lackey Erkh is in this list a lot for value. If you don’t have him/her then blood sworn mercenary could be a good option. I think I’d throw in one of those and feel it out.
Glad to her you enjoyed the deck and had some level of success. It’s not the easiest deck to pilot. I ended up watching replays on the games I have lost with this deck while on PC and found some clear misplays and identified the better lines. One of the most common bad lines is using risky skipper too early and not holding out for the right scenario. I’ve played many more matches with the deck in legend since and have kept the winrate above 73% still. My favorite deck in the meta.
Nearly impossible to get to this OTK win condition. Meta is so fast right now you can't live that long and removal isn't doing the trick. I haven't been lucky enough to match up against another priest yet...

Nice job with this deck. I was looking for a quest shaman and this is the most fun one so far. I was questioning the Torrents, but they're damn good.

Yup I just made edits and did the same. Warmaul is a fun card and decent. But Brawl is always good to have around.

Why the choice of sprint over Myra's for draw? Seems like if you need the burst to finish myra's might draw more and be better?
