So Control Paladin is dead again this expansion, FeelsBadMan.

No win conditions given to us since there are no charge mechs and we can only have one copy of the legendary spell, meaning no value grind. Looks like yet another expansion to skip...

It doesn't work in combo, too much inconsistency and loss of tempo.

Now, MAYBE it can work in a Keleseth Mage. Run Keleseth, this, Grand Archivist, maybe Aluneth for cycle. If that deck can work, maybe this can see play. I still don't really see the point of that though since you never want to draw this and you will have to run a fair amount of low costed minions to ensure you curve out well, from which you don't really get a big benefit from playing as a 1 drop.

By the way even if you get the Dr Morrigan chain going somehow the moment you draw the second copy you get screwed

Wild. So it never dies? Wacky.

I don't know how to evaluate it, but it's certainly a legendary all right.

Overhyped. I'd rate Bad to Dust it.

A solitary copy of a spell in a 30 card deck that needs to be played as early as possible to see any benefit while causing a huge tempo loss? Doubtful. It's too inconsistent because you can't control what you have left in your deck. Different from Florist because you can Melon into your wincons. More like Quest Druid reward, which was never meta. Can't see it.

Even in a supposed "Big Mage" deck, would be just worse than Big Druid without the ramp, targeted draw, and also it's a 7 mana do nothing the turn it comes out. And you have to wait a few turns until you draw your minions.

Even in Quest/OTK Mage, blowing 7 mana to do nothing isn't something you can do anymore since Ice Block rotated. In OTK, if this doesn't hit your Antonidas, you're screwed. That means you get screwed automatically more than 50% of the time (since this can be either in front of or behind Antonidas so a 50% chance to be good/bad, but you're not guaranteed to be able to play the card straight away, which means you could get screwed even after drawing this card when you draw your Antonidas with this card in hand) - which automatically makes it not good as a deck premise.

Even with Aluneth, then you want to blow 13 mana doing nothing on the board? Way too risky. And Aluneth decks have traditionally utilized low cost cards because you needed to be able to dump your draws. If you load your deck with high cost stuff to take advantage of this spell then what about half of the time when you draw Aluneth before this card? You will end up with a clogged hand.

If you load your deck with low cost stuff why play this card?

Edit: It "might" have been playable if it was your hand only, then it would have very likely competed with Leyline Manipulator, although this deck would still be a really slow combo deck, but "your deck" just makes it super unreliable. At 7 mana it is WAYYY too expensive to use as any sort of tempo deck card imo.

So this basically gives you the Druid Quest reward provided you draw it quickly.

Because it's limited to cards currently in the deck I doubt whether this can see play

Yes, OTK mage might love this if it got the free turn to play it early, but 7 mana for no board impact at all is not something you can do anymore since a certain card rotated out, and you won't be guaranteed a 1 mana Antonidas.

Those of you calling this slow need to take a good long look at Skull of the Man'ari.

5 mana do nothing LUL, so slow!

Turns out it's pretty good if you cheat out an expensive minion for free.

This thing does essentially the same thing; yeah, weapons are harder to interact with than minions obviously, but in return it's not tribe- specific.

I'm thinking about it, and imo this is really only worth if getting that extra copy of a spell is vital to your gameplan. Otherwise, just put that spell in your decklist instead of relying on RNG since the minion is highly mediocre.

To me it doesn't seem that viable in any other class but perhaps Shaman.

Best candidate imo is Kangor's Eternal Army in Paladin, since as is Paladin could do with a value grind using this card. but there are actually a fairly high amount of high costed Paladin spells that dilute the discover pool.

Maybe some kind of Control Priest could use it - their discover pool is good along with Mage, although Priest currently doesn't lack for additional high costed removal since Shadow Visions does that already. As for Mage...I don't think Big Spell really needs to put a third Meteor in their deck. Druid...again, I think they'd love a third Spreading Plague as an anti-aggro card, but there are quite a few spells that I don't think you want from this, notably UI no. 3+, Webweave, Living Mana, Force of Nature. Also not quite sure what you'd take out for this. The others I really don't see why you'd want a third copy of a spell.

Shaman currently has just 3 spells over 5; Bloodlust, Volcano, and the Spellstone. While Shudder could certainly do with a third Volcano, perhaps this may clog the hand way too much with expensive spells that are hard to get rid of that could be detrimental against a Control opponent, especially with Hagatha up.

Edit: Also realized this lets you discover Bloodlust in Even Shaman, although doubtful on that because the tempo loss is so big. And thanks, forgot about Eureka.

As a PSA of sorts, "tutor" just means you draw a specific card. So Howling Champion for instance is a tutor. Recruit is a summon from deck effect so unless you care about the Battlecry, it is in effect a tutor effect.

So yes, Psychmelon is a tutor for this card.
