posted a message on What If... (Expansion idea)

The main challenge/issue here is that adding classes is troublesome.  9 classes is already a lot.  MtG only has 5 colors, and it's occasionally challenged to keep all 5 relevant, even though it has the additional advantage of multicolor which allows an identity that can't stand in the meta on its own to get some help from something else.

Starcraft only has 3 factions.  MOBAs like HotS have more characters, but being a 5v5 team games with 25 relationships between the characters involved instead of 1 relationship make balance more complex and makes it easier for something not to be just a bad version of something else.  Most other games that seem to sustain more than 9 different character have something like that going on too.

So you'd really want to give the starcraft cards to everyone as neutrals, it would seem.  Which gets pretty weird.  Uther summoning a Zergling?  I do think those are cool games though, and don't mind more variety in the flavor, but they have to look out for people who are less openminded than me.

What I could see happening far down the line is reskins, where you can pay money and play a differently themed version of a class, with all class cards changed.  Neutral minions would probably have to stay what they are, but it'd be okay.

Or if they refuse rotation too long and the game starts to stagnate, maybe they keep the software and use it for a total reboot that uses a variety of themes and the same mechanics but new cards.  So it feels like HotS from the start.

Just my thoughts.  I think it's an interesting idea and appreciate the thread.

posted a message on Should Piloted Shredder be nerfed?

Lol, doesn't win the game singlhandedly.  You guys remind me of people who said JTMS was not broken in MTG because it rarely dealt the killing blow itself, it only powerfully assisted every way of wining..

I think there's a lot of class cards that are more powerful than the Shredder though, and I don't think neutral cards should get extra priority for the nerf bat.  Blizzard tends to disagree with that, though, neutrals get nerfed more frequently than class specifics.  If I had to pick a neutral to nerf, it probably would be Shredder.

posted a message on Transitioning to the TGT Arena Meta

I guess I'm the opposite from you, because I thrive on control strategies and GVG was like the worst thing for my arena winrate ever :)

If you're getting 5-6 win averages across the board with every single class, then your Mage winrate is the most troublesome one, since Mage is a top 3 class by anyone's estimation.

One thing that changed is that 3 drops have become important to snatch up again.  It's really important to curve out, and the frequency of Ogre Brute and Spider Tank went down while TGT cards frequency went up and their 3 drop offerings help aggro players spiral the game out of the control player's control, but don't help the control player keep the game in check.  Dragonhawk rider and Silver Hand Regent being good examples of this.

Classic was : there are no good 3 drops, but hero power turn 3 is not that bad in slow meta so it's not that bad.  GvG was: the meta is faster, you need good 3 drops, but hey, here they are.  TGT is: hero power turn 3 is awful and way too slow and there aren't any 3 drops available for you.

On the other hand, it has become a lot more permissible to pass up on stuff like Stormwind Champion and Ogre in order to take early drops that can keep Inspire from going out of control.  Kvaldir Raider, North Sea Kraken, and maybe even Mukla's Champion can do the job of two fatties in one card in terms of providing a win condition for your control deck.

    Hope it helps.

Regardless of availability, it would be dumb to lose matches because your opponent drew their deck's artifact and you didn't draw your deck's artifact.
