If that is your deck wining condition, good luck with that xD Might as well play fatigue hunter

If it was viable, it would already be a deck archetype : Faceless Manipulator in this case does exactly the same thing.
The thing that Shadowcaster adds is the ability to prepare a combo, or a big tempo turn.
It is not flexible enough due to it's mana cost though, if you use it late game you need to already have the board, so you should play Faceless Manipulator instead (there is no big enough battlecry effect that cost 5 or less to justify this card).
And if you play it for a matter of tempo, you lose some by playing a 5 mana 4/4 "do nothing" (same problem as Beneath the Grounds so unless you can copy an old god battlecry somehow, or a Antique Healbot but even then Shadowstep is better in 95% of the cases.

Now that i think of it even Piloted Sky Golem poops on this card, 3 less mana to lose 2 attack, and the possibility to get yeti or pit lord over a 4/4 (which is an average 4 drop).
To see this card take the rogue legendary spot when we saw the epic one being Poisoned Blade,* sigh*

I guess Blizzard though Rend Blackhand wasn't costing enough, and had too much of an effect.
I would play Demonfuse over this card, at least it could give you lethal.
In arena it could be picked if you see this besides Tinkmaster Overspark and Bloodmage Thalnos, but ofc nothing like any other 9 spot minion, for example the new North Sea Kraken just destroy this card and leaves a 9/7 to deal with the 4/4. And it's a common card. Blizzard Y U H8 ROGUE ?!

I really don't see this card being run in any kind of rogue deck.
Maybe a tempo rogue running prep :( But this card without prep is way too slow.
And the "flexibility" it seems to offer isn't a real one imo.
Because if you want to destroy the opponent's weapon you have to combo it, and it may waste the 1st effect. On the other hand the situation where the card is used at it's full potential is so ridiculously rare that running it hopping to see the situation happen may be a waste.

If the first effect was strong enough (keep in mind that deadly shot isn't run anywhere), it may be worth it to have it around, but sap/ooze/harrisson Jones already do the job. This card adds nothing.
