Watching them win or lose $100.000 games because of a coin flip is in no way fun to me, which is why I stopped watching HS tournaments quite a while ago.

EternalFinality posted a message on Ostkaka and Powder Leave Alliance, Rethinking Their Hearthstone InvolvementPosted in: NewsWhen I saw that you couldn't trade cards, that you could only mill duplicates for a pathetic fraction of their crafting cost I knew the game was a scam for paid customers.
The age old argument that trading cards aren't gambling because you always get something of value is predicated on you being able to turn the card in your hand into money if necessary through selling it to others.
That doesn't happen with online CCGs. You can only exchange them for more "house money" - further making it gambling because the value of getting a card you don't own and getting one you do is so stark, and the pack values so disparate.
This concept makes people uncomfortable. I've been gambling this whole time? Yes. Yes you have. You've been gambling for decades since you bought Magic and Pokemon cards too. I'm so sorry.

user-24259300 posted a message on Ostkaka and Powder Leave Alliance, Rethinking Their Hearthstone InvolvementPosted in: NewsI got fatigued the hell out of HearthStone for a very simple reason:
Packs are gambling. By now, after all the recent controversy with EA, I believe even the most hardcore blizz fanboys can't deny it with a straight face. The money/time I spend does not buy me anything but a chance to get something. Most of the times I have to DE something I WANT just to craft something else I want a bit more. The main arguement when it comes to this statement is "just grind and you'll get there." It's false. First of all, any functioning human being is too busy to grind HS for a deck like Razakus or any t1 deck. Second of all, grinding is the most horrible part of video games and it drives you into hating the game. When I play I wanna take a break from work, not work on a second job called HearthStone. That being said, grinding doesn't guarantee anything because, as I said, it's all gambling. Ever since they launched KOTFT, I opened three legendaries only, even though I've been doing most of the daily quests etc.
Only solution I can see in saving HearthStone is this:
Stop the packs, stop being so ridiculously greedy and make cards individually purchasable with reasonable prices. Instead of trying for months to build a deck I may like, only growing my frustration, I could go and buy the cards I like straight away and play it. It would also save the meta from being the 4-5 deck borefest because it would be very easy for people to play the decks they want, instead of focusing all their efforts in building one or two decks that are good. I wanna try hundreds of meme decks but god forbid I ever set my eyes on collecting them. I'd either go broke or insane. Sure, the greedy sharks at blizzard wont make AS MUCH as they do now out of exploiting their gambling system but, the individual card market would be very welcoming to new buyers, people may not need to spend as much but way more people would actually spend money, so it could break even. Also, your customers would be happy because they would be getting what they want, instead of feeling scammed.
This is literally the only change that can ever make me respect HearthStone as a game and its developers. If only people weren't so close minded, it would be implemented easily. I really admired EA's playerbase for their righteous uprising. It saddens me to see that Blizzard's playerbase has always been docile and accepting no matter what. Whenever someone speaks up for the interest of the consumers, the players themselves raise pitchforks, as if blizzard is some short of religion that can do no wrong. It's ridiculous.
Anyways, this is my opinion and why im done with HS.Bring this guy to dev team, now! -

Otafrear posted a message on On a Budget? Check out this No-Legendary Dragon Priest Deck!Posted in: NewsNothing against StanCifka, but some people here on HearthPwn give themselves fully to making a deck and writing it up, and yet they get no recognition by HearthPwn. StanCifka seems to just be the only guy that HearthPwn really cares to show any love, and it would be nice to see a change. Lots of people would appreciate the publicity, and some of those are really quite fantastic at deck building and guide writing.
