Which is what I was saying, there just aren't that many hunters currently. They exist but not overwhelmingly so that teaching against them makes sense ATM.

Yeah, but what rank are you at that you are facing so many hunters?

I just tech'ed two into my handlock and faced zero hunters and it was a liability unfortunately. Maybe in a super heavy aggro meta but that isn't what I am seeing at < 8 rank.

posted a message on How do you get past rank 12 without legendaries?

You can get to around rank 10 without a lot of expensive cards, but I'm not going to lie to get past that consistently you will need cards. I actually feel for new players because right now the barrier to entry is pretty high. My suggestion is to play all of your daily quests, save all of your gold and save all of your dust. Then pick either Hunter or Warlock (especially depending on what cards you already own) and craft either zoo or face (possibly even midrange) and then save all of your gold dust and begin working toward a second viable deck on ladder. When I first started out I crafted a few rare and epics so I could make two key decks but after that I pretty much only craft legendaries with the only exception being an occasional epic for a deck. Wasting dust is the biggest mistake new players make. Good luck!

I track my packs and I am on pack 43 with only 1 epic since my last one. I did get two legendaries but still that is only a single epic in close to 50 packs. Never underestimate bad luck mixed with RNG and computer code :)

I hope it to be someplace to relax and forget all about Dr. Boom, Patron Warriors and top-deck Quick Shot into Quick Shot into Kill Command. Like a Hearthstone spa where there only is Nat Pagle fishing, Sylvanas dancing and the Secretkeeper massaging you.

I know you are semi-joking but I would give anything for a Challengestone-type tournament mode or even just play mode where say weekly the parameters change. Only even mana spells, odd attack creatures or stuff like decks with total dust cost less than 1k, etc. That would breathe such new life and energy into the game and be fun for everyone.

I hope it is a tournament mode. I will be severely disappointed by 2v2 if that is the direction chosen. That is like the worst PUG hell IMO. It is fine to partner with a friend(s) but aside from that it seems like it will just mostly be a lesson in frustration to get teamed up with some random player of your MMR and try to play a coordinated game.

I have pulled more legendaries than unique epics. It doesn't help that my account seems bugged and I am on Snake Trap #18. Literally for 6 months every single epic I pulled was a Snake Trap. I had some unique epics at the beginning (luckily when I bought most of my packs) and in the past few months but otherwise it was all Snake Traps. Lately I have only pulled 1 epic in 43 packs, in that same span I have pulled 2 legendaries. I have spent more dust crafting needed epics than legends.

posted a message on Pricing for New Hero Skins

I spent about $150-200 on HS total since the start but have been entirely F2P for a good while (aside from buying BRM) and while I'm not against spending money for quality content, this isn't quality content IMO. New alternate heroes for existing classes with new hero powers would have been entirely worth it and it would make new decks viable with the existing card pool. This just feels gimmicky.

Everyone is different so maybe he does think slowly and is just that cautious but having played a few TCGs at a high level and even pro level I have never agonized and spent as much time as him in games that are infinitely more complex than HS. There just aren't enough variables and cards to fill 90 seconds every turn. The fact that he ropes so much and so long (even when not streaming) that he misses damage and plays to me means he just has some other barrier going on internally. It absolutely is not considering everything every single turn, it just doesn't add up IMO. I don't begrudge him for taking the time, it is his style and approach and it may be partly a mental game so that's fine I just don't buy the common response that it is always him so deep in thought and mapping out every possible outcome. Sometimes it probably is, but not always.

Hi everyone, so recently i noticed a very annoying and even abusing thing, with the rise of popularity of lifecoach, i see a lot of people slowroling in situations where normally they would never do this. If someone thinks that they're gonna mentally break their opponents this way, they're widely mistaken, it's just irritating and ruins the game for peaceful players, please try to spread this message so that people understand...

Lifecoach doesn't play slowly to troll opponents. He just does it so he can take his time and consider his options.

I've never encountered anything that appeared to be roping just to troll. Are you sure these, or at least some/many of them, weren't just people who were carefully considering their options?

Playing carefully and slowly could even be described as a more "peaceful" way of playing.

    -

Of course, if you have good reason to think someone was just doing it to troll, that's despicable, but I don't see what that would have to do with lifecoach.

I disagree with Lifecoach. I do not believe he is deep in thought each and every play. He also takes it to an extreme that just loses any credibility in my mind. I think he has just developed this "style" and sticks to it. There aren't that many cards in HS, then break it down to how many cards/combos are available for a single class and for each amount of mana and it is usually 3-4 possible options (that are likely). If you have played as long as he has you know precisely what the possible outcomes are and maybe 1 in 100 will surprise you and I guarantee all the thinking in the world isn't going to matter or make the wasted time every single game worth it. IMO it is a shtick.

He/She did explain and I agree, as would most others. If it auto-ended or started timing down your turn when you have no plays in hand it gives an enormous amount of information to your opponent. Not only that but you could use it to your advantage. You think the opponent might have a card or combo in hand... you set the board to test it and see if their turn begins to rope down immediately and you know they do or do not have it. The idea just doesn't work in any sort of competitive game, players are good enough to utilize an advantage like that and would absolutely do so. I would.

Despite all of the above, I am quite comfortable stating that anyone using the rope to display their annoyance at an opponent's deck choice is a childish and bitter moron.

I mean, come on people! Choosing a deck of which you disapprove just means that someone has a different view of what makes Hearthstone fun but deliberately slowing the game down, which wastes your own time just as much as your opponent's, just amounts to an open display of a particularly embarrassing personality disorder.

    Get a grip, guys.

Meh.  I believe Facehunters are universally untalented, selfish pricks.  This is a multi-player game.  By choosing to play a deck that denies their opponent any opportunity to actually have an enjoyable, interactive experience, they have shown their complete lack of regard and concern for anyone but themselves.

Roping is the only means available to me to show them the same level of disrespect that they are showing their opponents.

I would love for you to explain how exactly a Hunter can play a viable deck that doesn't effectively rely on face? The cards just aren't there. If they were people would play it. Even midrange is just face with a few other options. Everything from the hero power to the cards released at every juncture, including BRM, offer no other alternative. It is an effective strategy and deck, getting high and mighty about one aggro/cancer deck when the entire game is currently aggro/cancer decks is a bit silly IMO.

posted a message on Heroes of the Storm card back

MOBAs require both more twitchy skill and critical thinking/strategy at the same time and there appear to be an overwhelming amount of options and things to learn but in reality once you get past the initial learning curve they can be quite fun. HotS actually does a lot to simplify this genre down to the core concepts and remove a lot of the extraneous/tedious stuff from other MOBAs. It is a fun and more causal approach. HS has been losing my interest lately with it all feeling too same-same and grindy so HotS and gaining the level 12 rank were a welcomed break. I originally planned to play just to get the cardback and now I am enjoying it more than HS. It grows on you once you figure it out and get to a higher level where you start to get paired with and play against better opponents.

posted a message on Heroes of the Storm card back

@thepoxbox that is indeed the basics of HotS (and most MOBAs). It is a simple formula, it falls apart though because the average player doesn't quite get such logic. The few things I will add that are critically important are:

    1. Play every hero. Even if just once. If you haven't played each hero you won't know their strengths/weaknesses and how their abilities proc. Same as in HS where playing a deck helps you know how to defeat it better. You will also know what your teammates strengths/weaknesses which will make you a better player and teammate.

    2. Know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em. Even 1 on 1 or when your opponent is down to the tiniest sliver of life, know when to back off. A stealthed enemy could be right there and by overextending to get a kill you end up dead and you don't get the kill. Similarly let opponents battle down a big enemy minion/objective and take damage then swoop in and kill them off and get the objective.

    3. Know the levels and where the objectives are. All the battling in the world in the lanes won't help if you aren't turning the tides by collecting more of the objectives than your opponents. The benefits are too strong and game changing to ignore them or get outclassed by the enemy.

    4. Use the healing fountains smartly. Make sure you use them periodically so that they aren't always on cooldown and you aren't too low on health and have to hearthstone back.

    5. If you are behind on levels, stop and force the whole team to stay together. It is your only hope of leveling up and getting back in the game. Trying to stick to 2 per lane against 2 enemies when they have you on levels is suicide and a fast track to failure. You are no longer 1:1 you are 0.5:1 at best when they have you in levels.
