That's why they need to nerf BGH, you can't even play another secret anymore now or it gets BGHed! Kappa

Fredless posted a message on Card Swap - Remove Owl and BGH from Standard and replace them with what 2 minions? or switch to a class?Posted in: Card DiscussionI'm not sure it matters which cards replace a neutral epic and a neutral common, presumably from GvG. Meh. I don't really care what they bring in, to be honest.
What I *do* care about is game balance. Does Standard still work with only one neutral Silence and no neutral way of dealing with overpowered enemy minions? I for one can easily remember hating losing to the first legendary minion my opponent played back when I started. Once I got BGH I felt that I could at least compete a bit because I didn't *have* to draw my Polymorph or Hex or whatever; I could play more than 2 answers to these cards. So now we get more, bigger monsters and fewer ways of dealing with them; both in terms out outright removal and in terms of Silence. I've not seen anything in the new set that has these attributes, but I could be wrong.
Not going salty, but I won't be surprised if it's a game of who sticks the biggest monster first.

olGrandPaby posted a message on Everyone is crying about stale meta and Combo Druid/Secret Paladin...Posted in: General DiscussionI don't know if you've realized yet but there's certain deck archetypes built into the game. Mana wurm and flamewaker are good cards. Fireball and frost bolt are good cards. When you put them together you get tempo Mage. That's just the way it works. If you spend months or years figuring out for yourself what cards are good and then put them into a deck guess what happens? You get something that's probably 95% equal to some sort of net deck.
There are only way two ways to truly be creative and competitive at the same time. One is to get brewing at the very release of a new expansion and be the guy that came up with the build that will later be net decked by others. The other is to fine tune preexisting archetypes with narrow meta game counter cards. The problem is that there aren't enough of those printed yet.

Class_A posted a message on Everyone is crying about stale meta and Combo Druid/Secret Paladin...Posted in: General DiscussionI will direct you to the 'blow off some steam' thread.
People play card games for lots of reasons, all of which is their prerogative. There is no "wrong way" to play. If people want to neckdeck they are entirely within their rights to do so.
I refuse to call anyone that netdeck "a competitive player", true competitive player would spend days and weeks to make his own perfect deck, and would not just c/p meta snap shot top tier shit

Garlicnerd posted a message on New Mage Card - Faceless SummonerPosted in: Card DiscussionAs I explained in great detail in my earlier post, it does not happen, ever, in high-level play. No 6+ mana card is played in any competitive deck simply as a stat stick (again, I'm not counting giants as costing 6+ mana).Of course. I can't think of a single card 6+ mana played purely for stats. -

DukeDemoniq posted a message on nerf Big Game Hunter / BGHPosted in: Card DiscussionBGH is actually a good design constraint for this game, since he provides a way to swing the board without having priority when your opponent plays a big dude. Due to the nature of this game and the general lack of a lot of efficient removal in most classes in Hearthstone, there aren't actually that many ways to kill Dr. Boom when your opponent plays it on a relatively uncontested board. People don't understand this because it's human nature to be a whiny titty-baby and bitch that you can't play Gruul, or whatever, because he always eats a BGH. They can take BGH out of the Classic set if everyone is so upset about it, but it would be super unwise to take him out of the game entirely. It would basically weaken midrange and strengthen aggro and control.

Hunter is far from dead.Midrange Hunter is pretty good atm; Call of the Wild is absolutely broken.

A particularly great Yogg-Saron :D
He gave me +11 attack AND a Christmas Tree.

Four goldens down

What's the point? You ruin the experience for a bunch of new players for a reward that nobody gives a shit about.
Just actually play the game for god's sake.

I think I've seen this played twice and both times he gave Poisoned Blade.

It isn't a spell and it doesn't target, so no.

Innervate + Yogg is hilarious. It's not particularly good but playing Yogg like 6 times in one game is awesome

OK I found a hilarious deck:
Mana Wyrm + Frost Nova
1
Mechwarper + Metaltooth Leaper mirror match all day every day
Worst brawl ever
