sigtrent posted a message on Does Zephrys the Great prove rigged card draw/discover system?Posted in: Card DiscussionThey are not attempts to shut down the discussion, they are counter-arguments. That's how arguments work, you present a view, others present a competing view.
Git Gud etc... that's more an insult etc... But pointing out valid statistical modeling is not.
Having played HS since the first set, I feel nothing in terms of card draw being non-randomized. Sometimes I top deck the card I need, sometimes I get complete crapola. Play 100 games with one deck and count the card draws, then compare it to expected odds, see what you get. It will never match perfectly but if it is wildly off you may have something.
That said, I do think matchmaking is rigged to some degree. Blizzard is trying to smooth out the experience of winning and losing such that folks don't win too much or lose too much. The little spinner always lands on "worthy opponent" because that's more or less what the system is trying to ensure, you get someone that will offer you about the right amount of challenge for how well you are doing. Getting crushed, you get a little gimmie if they can find one for you. On a super hot streak? They will try to find you some hardcore challenge. Playing a crap deck (I often do) you may well get someone else dicking around. Play a total agro smasher deck and you won't get quite so many agro opponents because that would make things very lopsided. But you will get a few because sometimes it wants to stomp agro down a notch when it's running wild. That's my opinion, I can't back it up with facts.
But I've not had any experiences that felt like they were tinkering with the in-game randomness and I've seen a lot of variation in the results of RNG rolls in similar situations. -

Synthetikmisery posted a message on Casual is worse than beforePosted in: General DiscussionHe is correct. This is a salt thread post as it doesn't initiate the discussion or even try to. It's just a post made out of frustration.
Maybe if you didn't insult people it may have passed as an actual post.
Losing is part of the game. If you are losing a lot then time to re-think how you are playing or even if this game is for you. -

ChemicalAfterburn posted a message on Need Help for Better Deck BuildingPosted in: General Deck BuildingWell when making/improving a deck there are a few really important things to keep in mind.
FIrst off you definitely want to enjoy the deck you will be playing, because it will take time and effort to improve the deck and figure out what works and what doesn't.
Secondly you need a way to win. I'm guessing by looking at the list that you either win by Zzeraku the Warped demon value or just the DH running out of steam and having nothing left. I think you wanna work on a few more win conditions that are more reliable and can happen almost every game.
And thirdly is that the only real way to improve a deck is to figure out what is working and what isn't by playing it. Every time you feel like you have a dead card in hand, write down what it is and keep it in mind for later. Every time you feel like a particular card swayed the game in your favour, make a note of it. You can figure out what types of cards are better to have than not.
Hope any of this helps!

Funnily enough, I disagree with both of the premises in the post.
1. Going from an average placement of around 4.1 to 4.3 is NOT a .2% increase. It is a flat .2 increase - but that is not the same as .2 percent. A flat .2 increase is a lot bigger, and half a standard deviation does matter - it's double digit percentage points.
2. A battlegrounds pass is not a "pay to play" function. The pass is unlockable with gold for 2500 coins, which is not that difficult to get - I myself had around 5k gold saved up since the previous expansion, and was comfortably able to purchase both the tavern pass and a sizeable number of packs for the new expansion. I'd like to note that I'm f2p, and only purchased something once - the 10pack + legendary classic bundle, and that was using a gift card I'd earned from playing video games on clickloot (a site which rewards you for playing video games).
TLDR: I disagree. A tavern pass DOES provide a noticeable advantage, but having one has nothing to do with whether or not you are P2P and everything to do with how good you are at managing your ingame resources and your skill.

The problem is that if you remove class identity, you remove much of what the classes really ARE. At its core, each class is an individual class BECAUSE of class identity. The classes also draw from world a warcraft (WoW), and many of the cards that are playable are actually spells/units from world of warcraft. They must, to some degree, stay consistent with the lore.
The other reason is because gamers seem to like class identity. This could have many reasons - easy to learn for new players, creates imagery of what your class represents, creates rivalries and teams, etc. Look at the top card games on twitch - besides Poker, the top 3 card games, Hearthstone, Legends of Runeterra, and Magic the Gathering ALL have established class identities.
In conclusion, the idea is interesting, but would cause Hearthstone to lose a lot of its appeal.

Absolutely not. Assuming that you're a standard player, the only time you should dust a card is when it rotates. Dusting a card - especially one that is released at the start of the new hearthstone rotation - means that you run a very high risk that the card becomes part of the meta due to any one of the 5 next expansions. Don't dust.
Edit: I should note that "absolutely not" was directed at the post title. You should not dust, because there IS potential.

If it's what got the company to be worth hundred of millions of dollars, sure, why not? If it's not broke don't fix it.

Warlock falling off the charts shouldn't have been surprising. The most common matchup for the warlock was tempo demon hunter vs. gala warlock, and in that matchup Sacrificial Pact often killed off a Battlefiend, a Satyr Overseer, or in rare cases a Priestess of Fury for free while gaining 5 hp. It's no wonder that the winrate has dropped as hard as it has.

Yes. At first, I was confused because I remember Brann Bronzebeard not stacking. But here's the big difference: wording. Mo'arg Artificer uses the word DOUBLE, while Brann Bronzebeard uses the word TWICE. Having multiple Branns on the board doesn't stack, because the effects still happen twice. Having multiple artificers does, since you're doubling multiple times (x2->x4->8, etc..)

Frenzied Felwing is also eligible. I don't know why it's not mentioned, but it's disenchantable for the full refund in HS.

*Bad Luck Albatross, Bloodbloom, and Open the Waygate will be eligible for a full dust refund for two weeks after the 17.0.2 patch has been released.
HOW ABOUT Frenzied Felwing?????

Just about all of them are either balanced or slightly above the curve. Some are seeing play in very specific decks and just about all of them are playable in highlander. So no, they don't need buffs. We should buff some of the cards we know are bad - like Savagery, or Magma Rager.

If 80 percent of your stuff costs 3 or less that means that either
a)You're a face deck that runs out of steam and doesn't have cards by the time you play altruis
b)You can't count
