Coming from 18 years of Magic the Gathering experience I was hoping that the introduction of the new Standard format would breathe some new life into this brilliant game ... but in my humble opinion it has not!
Standard is now all about who gets the better draw ... or do you have an answer to the aggro shaman cheese net decks flooding the ladder and the casual environments. The aggro Shaman deck is just the old face Hunter deck in a pretty frock. Perfect for all of those players with a lack of imagination, no deck building skill and who possess the oh so difficult to master skill of net decking! These decks just grind my gears and completely murder all that is fun in Hearthstone.
Standard is as boring as all hell and about as much fun as a root canal!
I have switched back to playing wild where the games have been both challenging and rewarding. This is because all of the try hard net decking Legend wannabes are all over playing standard with the latest incarnation of aggro Shaman or C'Thun Druid their favorite streamer or website is featuring on any given day ... and this suits me just fine!
This is probably one of Blizzard's biggest bungles and is driving players like myself away from Standard, and I know of quite a few players who have left Hearthstone completely.
Just my $0.02 ... Just putting it out there ... use it ... don't use it ... and I shall now step down off my soapbox!

Malygos is great if you like combo decks. He's absolutely irreplaceable to the point that nearly every deck that runs him names the deck after him. It'll open up Malylock, Malyrogue, miracle druid and otk shaman decks. Probably my favorite legendary because I like that play style but they are pretty specific decks that use him so he's not quite as versatile as some others.
You absolutely will not regret crafting Tirion or Justicar though so I'd probably start there.

That's a great video. Funny stuff.

Playing what you know best is the best way to get legend. From 5-l skill and understanding of the matchups is more important than which deck. When I was facing a lot of Druids I used tempo mage though, played druid before that myself. Just about every class has a strong deck right now so I would say play what you're most comfortable with.
edit: as for deck lists, check out Tempo Storms Meta Snapshot, the matchup section I find particularly useful when climbing but they have deck lists too, not always the best deck for the archetype because they highlight 1 each week but a great resource regardless.

I like your list and the changes you've made. Velen's is the most important card in the mirror match and getting it on a deathlord can be game over for aggro. 2x Museum Curators is a must, it is your early and late game. What I love about priest right now is that there is no wrong answer as far as deck lists go. If you like blademasters run them. like Velen's better? Have at it! 1x pyro, 1x chow, whatever you are most comfortable with. Winning with the deck is more about your skill than what is in a few slots, all of the variations are viable. If you ever watch Zeta's stream he is constantly changing things in and out and he consistently wins no matter what he's playing with.

I agree with a lot of what you said but I think you're missing a big part of my point. It's true that you don't always want to play the golden monkey but you're not including the monkey in your deck, you're including Elise which is a 4 mana 3/5, already a decent body that isn't conditional and has no drawback. you play the golden monkey when you've basically already lost the game and this gives you a Hail Mary to pull out of a win when the game would have otherwise been lost.
I'm not saying the card is op or an auto-include but I think it has a place in a lot of control decks. Many Control decks are packed with removal and conditional cards so having a body to play proactively is certainly welcomed and if you cheese a win or two out of it here and there then all the better. Again, there is no real downside, just a potential way to swing a loss into a win.

Good review as usual but I think you are seriously underestimating Elise. As a 3/5 for 4 mana her stats are already decent, she has no drawback and her potential upside is immense. Control decks can play her proactively putting a good body on the board to trade. She also adds +1 card to your deck which can help in the fatigue game, also the golden monkey is put in your deck before so you can use the map when you are already in fatigue. Now for the upside, it's true you may not want to play the monkey right away but what it is is an incredibly powerful panic button, imo second only to Deathwing. Again, not using the monkey if you don't have to isn't a big deal but if you need it it can completely turn a game for you. Oh, did I mention the monkey is a 6/6 taunt for only 4 mana?
I personally think Elise is superior to shredder in control and fatigue decks. I'm having great success with it in a healadin I put together, it runs 2 LoH's so I draw it more reliably and if the game goes to or near fatigue Elise turns a useless LoH into a legendary.
