What the....?! I play midrange hunter almost exclusively, and it's just as strong as it ever was. Just because there is a stronger midrange deck in another class doesn't mean midrange hunter is weak. Stupid topic is stupid.

Disasterrific posted a message on How good is Captain GreenskinPosted in: Card DiscussionGotta get that Captain's Parrot!
Joking aside, he's the Bloodmage Thalnos of pirate/weapon-based decks.
The boost he offers is a small but significant boon, but there isn't a competitive deck for him yet. Notables are the interaction with Gorehowl which is worth 15 damage to the face, and Assassin's Blade which can pump out 20 damage over 5 turns. It's also pretty good with Truesilver Champion and Death's Bite, and even Arcanite Reaper. Putting it on Doomhammer is just excessive.
Probably his most viable deck right now is a tempo-based Pirate Rogue with Tinker's Sharpsword Oil or a weapon-heavy Renowarrior deck.

Siegfrieddo posted a message on Just lost to an AVIANA DRUID!!Posted in: General DiscussionI almost cried... of joy! Of seeing such a gimmicky deck work.
I was on standard combo druid. Guy ramped with wild growth, managed to control my board, got down a ramped Ysera, then Aviana + Ragnaros combo and proceeded to grind my board till he could finish me with minions (no combo piece!)
It was the FIRST Aviana druid I've ever seen in action. And ironically, it worked.

acosper posted a message on Is it ethically defensible to rope Secret Paladins?Posted in: General DiscussionI am a long term Hearthstone player. I also happen to have a background in philosophy. This is why I am fascinated when both of these interests intersect in a meaningful way. I would be very interested to see how people respond to the following questions.
1) Is it ethically defensible to rope Secret Paladins?
2) Do you rope Secret Paladins?
3) Does your motivation for doing so matter? In other words, is there a difference between roping a Secret Paladin because you are angry and roping a Secret Paladin because you are trying to impose a cost (time) on those who choose to play a deck that many believe imposes a cost (frustration, loss of enjoyment) on the rest of the Hearthstone community?
(Edit for clarification) I think that this constant cycle we get into where the deck that people least enjoy playing against also happens to be the most played deck is a problem. I think it is a version of the tragedy of the commons (The tragedy of the commons is a term...to denote a situation where individuals acting independently and rationally according to each other's self-interest behave contrary to the best interests of the whole by depleting some common resource. Wikipedia). If your goal is to win as much as possible, it is obviously a perfectly rational decision to play the strongest deck. However, when there are large numbers of people collectively making that rational decision the result is a less diverse meta which leads to less enjoyment for many players. I base this on the amount of comments I have seen complaining about Secret Pally (or Undertaker Hunter etc). I will concede in advance that a diverse meta is not necessarily a good thing--if the meta were to become too fluid, deck building would be difficult because it would be hard to know what to target. I will also concede that in real life, roping is not likely to change behavior because it is not a common response. I am more interested in the principles involved. If roping is bad because it negatively effect others enjoyment of the game, can the same be said about choosing to play the 'strongest deck' with the explicit goal of gaining an advantage relative to others?
I thank you in advance for your responses.
(Given the responses so far, I think I should clarify that I am not advocating for roping anyone. That being said, it does happen and I think that how people justify it is an interesting question because of the very limited means for interacting with opponents. One of the less savory means of interaction is the friend request followed by a torrent of expletives. I wouldn't suggest doing that either. But I am similarly interested in the motivations of people who engage in that behavior. There is also emote spamming, but that is easily avoided)

acosper posted a message on Is it ethically defensible to rope Secret Paladins?Posted in: General DiscussionIf they BM me in the slightest way I'll bm them back better. I don't condone bm'ing except if you play the most mindless, annoying deck in the history of hearthstone AND bm on top of that? Oh, it's on! I'm already mostly playing decks that have good mu's against secret pally to get some more golden heroes so beating them plus some bm is fine by me. If they're particularly obnoxious and I know they're going to win I'll just take my dog outside without conceding or grab a beverage. If I'm going to win I'll rope and then unleash an oil combo or as much overkill as possible. Sometimes I'll trade things I don't need for lethal so he thinks he has a chance. If playing freeze mage I've even put up a block delaying the inevitable a whole turn, good times!
Dont to worry though people, you really have to deserve it for me to be a dick to you so it probably won't happen to you. Right?
Judging based on the replies so far, you might be the only Hearthstone player that ever BMs. Or, perhaps, the only player to admit it. Thank you for your response. -

l4chsnacken posted a message on Is it ethically defensible to rope Secret Paladins?Posted in: General DiscussionI'd rather ask myself whether or not its ethically defensible to not BM them in any kind of way, be it roping, slow-BM-ing or emote spamming.

BadgerWarrior posted a message on Hello, Can anyone help me? :)Posted in: General DiscussionHello everyone... I am BadgerWarrior and I started playing Hearhtstone a few days ago, so I am relatively new to the game so I thgought I'd search around on forums for maybe some tips, some help. ( I know how to play the game but maybe some help in deck building and stuff like that). I was watching some hearthstone videos online and I saw that Unleash The Hounds Hunter is quite a popular deck, but there is one problem no one online shows how to play it ( how to play early game, mid game etc...) and they usualy just say things like: "Yeah just take Unleash the Hounds and some combo cards" never explaining what goes well with it and stuff like that, they probably didn't know someone newer to the game like my self would watch the video. So as you alredy may have guessed I want to build this deck so I thought someone from the comunity would help, maybe suggest some cards so I know what to grind my hunter class for.
Sorry for the long post, and thank you in advance! :) -

I think there is a good chance this is legit.
Dark Cultist was also released by a Chinese website and was confirmed within the week, of course these forums were flooded with people calling that fake too.
We have a bad habit of calling anything Chinese fake but this is usually foolish pride and ignorance speaking.

I would completely disregard that post. If you make those changes you might as well make a whole new deck, not sure if he's trolling after that.
Personally though, I'm not a big fan of vaporize and auctioneer always seemed too slow to me in my mage decks. If you are feeling the need to tweak things that is where I'd start. He is right about one thing though, water elementals are awesome! I won't make a mage deck without them.

Nuba I don't always disagree with you but your replies come off as your word is law and it just isn't. There are many ways to play this game and your straight forward approach strikes me as very boring and unimaginative. This is constructed, not arena, every card is playable if you create a deck for it. I love seeing people come up with creative and intricate plays and to say a card is just unplayable is just short sighted.
