How do you tell if the player you're facing is a robot?

If they don't respond to my emotes, they're obviously a bot. :)

posted a message on A recent opponent would like to be your friend!

You guys are way too jaded. I got friend-requested twice so far after beating the opponent (having played this game for about 2 months). First time I ignored it, thinking the same thing the rest of you do. Second time I accepted, the guy told me he was impressed by my deck, asked me where I found it, and after I told him I built it myself because I was too poor to build a net-deck, he said the deck inspired him to pick up the class I was playing. The guy is also further ahead of me, so it has been a great mentorship experience. We're still friends, and often spectate/advise each other as we play. You can refuse these friend requests for fear of an occasional asshole, but in the end you're only boning yourself.

Seems like another variant of Prince Malchezaar to me, it may improve weak decks but will only get in the way of stronger ones. If it was changed to discover a legendary minion instead, then it would be a useful card.

posted a message on Is there any room for new players in this game?

I'm a new player myself, just started 2 months ago, I'm not really F2P anymore, but I am pretty frugal about my spending. I never pay $ for individual card packs, but I do buy well-discounted ones. I would say I'm doing well, rank 11 last season, rank 10 so far this season. Here is what worked for me:

    • Before you get a decent collection, just do daily quests to get gold and play arena.
    • Don't disenchant anything, don't craft anything until you know the exact cards for the deck you need (especially don't craft legendaries, the cost-reward ratio imo just isn't there for someone starting out - i.e. you're much better off crafting Savannah Highmane than King Krush, for example).
    • Secret Mage, Face Hunter, and Midrange Hunter tend to be the cheapest decks that still perform well on the ladder. Of them, Secret Mage is Tier 1, the rest are Tier 2-3, but I crafted the hunter because I had more cards for it and there are fewer cards rotating out than for mage.
    • Whether you're starting out or not, ladder is a lot of grinding. Just because you're a tier 1 deck, doesn't mean people just concede to you. My first hunter build kept losing to Cubelocks, my current iteration has about 55% win rate against them, not bad considering my deck is ~2000 dust and theirs is ~20k.
    • Even if you consider yourself F2P, some things are just too much value to pass up. For example, the $5 Welcome Bundle is just worth it. Until I got it, I felt like I couldn't build anything meaningful, you either buy it or accept that you'll be 2nd class citizen for first 3-4 months. I ended up buying that, Mammoth Bundle, and pre-ordered Witchwood via Amazon coins. I probably won't buy any other expansions next year, but for $65 I've made the game a lot more fun for myself.

Agreed, I would like to see Spellproof as a keyword, especially since it's a common Adapt choice.

posted a message on The Enrage Keyword is Being Removed From Hearthstone

As a Russian speaker, I'm confused what the guy translating these is smoking. You could say the same thing with less text and without trying to be fancy: '+1 к атаке и "Неистовство ветра" если это существо повреждено.'

Moreover, I would have translated "Windfury" keyword as "Сила ветра" instead of "Неистовство ветра". It's like they're going out of their way to make the text longer. What they did is equivalent to English version saying 'Has +1 Attack and "Power of the furious wind" if this creature has health that isn't completely full .'

Wow, the one time Hungry Ettin summoning a Doomsayer is actually a good thing.

Umm... I wouldn't really call Secret Hunter an aggro build. We're not all Face Hunters bro.

posted a message on Meta-breaking TIER 0 Deck Confirmed!

Dudes, dudettes, have I got a deck for you...

Ever wanted to give those meta-breaking decks a taste of their own medicine? Ever wanted to summon a board full of Voidlords against a Cubelock, Counterspell that Secret Mage into oblivion, Devolve that Shaman's minions into Wisps, slap that Rogue with her Kingsbane, or Consecrate that Paladin's board? Now you can!

Introducing Tier 0 deck I just came up with: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1047594-tier-0-super-meta-deck

    You're welcome.

Disclaimer: only click the above link if you have a sense of humor. Also, based on the responses, it seems like some people didn't catch that this is more of a joke deck than a real meta-breaking deck. So in case someone feels they've been wronged for spending 2 seconds clicking a link that made them chuckle, you've been warned.
