Dr. Boom is really good. There are legendaries which provide more value (Cairne, Sylvanas) but it's great. If not top 5, top 10.

its honestly not that good. 1/3 of the time you get something 2 or less which sucks. Usually it's just an average card, and once in a blue moon it will "win the game".  It's balanced.

board wipe=damage all enemy minions. Unless you look for a second flamestrike printed on a minion, it IS a board wipe.
And as I mentioned, you can play around it by adding minions with a higher health. Your opponent doesn't know, if it's in your deck or not.

But I have to agree, that it wouldn't make sense in a rush deck, where it burns most of your minions. But that's what I'd call "common sense".

The only viable mage decks right now are secrets mage and freeze mage. Flame leviathan does not fit into either of those decks. It has no synergy with mage cards whatsoever, and it's terrible in freeze mage because often times it kills you. I've played freeze mage in ladder, and I can say in almost all my games I am on one health relying on iceblock to keep me alive. Basically, it's not worth the risk. In secrets deck it doesn't work because secrets mage is a board control deck, and it could randomly destroy your board just as likely as it is to destroy an enemy board. It obviously won't fit into a mage mech deck, because mech decks will revolve around playing mechs which tend to be small minions instead of large minions.

Basically this does nothing for the mage class. It doesn't make it stronger, and it also doesn't create any new possibilites for the class, because it's so unpredictable. It also has no relation to mage lore, which is kind of a spit in the face by Blizzard.

Bolvar does seem pretty bad, but I think it's safe to say FL is way worse, since it's war golem with unpredictable card text which has no synergy in no mage deck whatsoever.

Neptulon is actually good in shaman even if it isn't murloc shaman. The biggest problem for shaman is that it runs out of steam too fast and it can't keep filling the board. This can help mitigate that, and drawing four murlocs is pretty good for the mana cost.

Warning : Wall of text , procede at your own caution.

Ok , so I get that devs want to make more unique mechanics for the game and this trash it's their way of telling us that , but... BUT , I cannot be more frustrated with this as I have ever been with this game.

We got nerfed to oblivion starting with pyro (ok ... ok ... it was to "strong" at 8 mana , due to the angry kids screaming all day on the blizzard forums that is the root of all evil ) , then with freeze archetype ( again , same kids realize that was a second root of all evil ) . We are at the bottom right now , but I get that , every meta has ups and downs and classes that are at the bottom but one would generally hope that a new expansion would give those classes a " help " into the right direction.

I know a legendary doesn't mean that it would change a class but they're are example where it helped a lot such as Jaraxxus became a must have in the handlock which would be a finisher , another chance to live a few more turns to finish your oponet ( well handlock wasn't particullary in a bad shape at all but it was the only example that came to me right now ).

Now someone said that because we got Antonidas that is a generally good ( not always it's a "versatile " because it requires you to cast cheap spells to get value out of it ,but I agree it's pretty good when you get value out of it) this would be the payback for a " good " legendary . But the thing with what I am the most frustrated it's not the crappy Abomination effect  , and not with those golem stats and cost but with the feeling of this card. It doesn't fit anywhere , it doesn't represent mage at all , it's even poorly designed , I can go on and on and on ... I would rather stay with one legendary that have this crap represent the mage class.  At least Bolvar is a well know paladin figure or Neptulon which is well know in the lore and fits the shaman ( bot being is the same category as this "card" ) , I would expect this card into a warrior deck ( well they actually got it , in the best version with the juggernaut ) , it simply sadness me greatly and frustrates me that the best they could come up to for a class that represents heavily magic theme with a tank and mark it as legendary ... there are no words to describe on how many levels this is bad.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said. This is lazy design.

This honestly makes me so mad. Mage is in the bottom of the meta right now. None of the cards it got are significant enough to change that, but especially this one. I can't even see this being situationally good.

The thing that bothers me the most about this card is that it doesn't feel like a mage card at all. What does it have to do with mage lore? Couldn't we have gotten some other warcraft mage? I'm sure there are plenty that they could have used. I could come up with 5 mage legendaries right now which are fairly balanced but stronger and more interesting than this card.

I'm not even upset that this card isn't buffing mages, I'm just upset that I doubt this card can fit into any deck at all. Maybe they thought this would be funny, since RNG is so funny or something? This just feels hopeless.

To be honest, the development feels lazy. Weak card, boring effect, and no relation to magic whatsoever.

Is there really nothing the mage community can do about this?
