I don't think we necessarily need a meta where games go past turn 10, except when both players whiff on their combos. But some cool win conditions are basically unplayable before turn 10, like Cthun or Priest Quest. And the non-viability of those saddens me.
So which is it? Why even let players get to 10 mana crystals? Why even print 10-Cost cards?
If they changed maximum mana to 7 crystals, how long before people start saying a 7-turn game is way too long?
Quests should be free, not take up a card slot and both players should start with 3 crystals, like battlegrounds. Nobody wants games to last more than four turns.
Not everyone feels that way. I sure don't. While it would be cool to have quests not take up a hand slot, I'd enjoy the game less if we started with 3 crystals. Constructed Hearthstone isn't battlegrounds for a reason.
I don't wanna bash on Heartstone, but i feel MtG Arena is the better online card game (in more than one way).
I feel just the opposite. I think Magic's mana system is outdated and terrible, and I'm happy to bash on it all the live-long day.
Fans like to defend it as being an interesting aspect of the game's strategy, but I find it tedious. What's more, it creates far more games where the outcome is decided by RNG than anything that has ever existed in Hearthstone. (And please don't bring up all the ways you can fix your mana, because those are just Band-Aids on a broken, unfun system that needs to be scrapped.)
If they made a Magic 2.0 with a totally new mana system, I'd love to give it a try.
Speaking of the mana system. There was a finals match in the Pro tour of MTG where the guy who lost had to mulligan to 4 and couldn't find land. I 100% agree that it's outdated.

Personally, I really like metas that offer every type of deck. I'd like it if we could get back to a little bit of everything.
They are not the most OP and Unfair decks in the games history trust me lol.
Mage maybe not but the warlock quest put the Wild format, the collection of all expansions released so far, into your knees, if this not prove the deck is unfair and OP I don't know what does...
In Wild yes it is dominant. But in D5 and up it's the same it's always been Secret Mage, Zoo WL and what not. Wild is also a very diverse format, I've played a lot of homebrew junk to legend there I'd be more than willing to bet other decks would do just fine unless you have a god tier MMR. It did a great job at destroying wild, But standard will be fine.
Quest Lock is going to be around even more now. Stealer of Souls and the Quest needed to be dialed back. With Paladin and Hunter getting nerf expect Lock to be everywhere.
The stealer of souls version is statistically the worst version. It has a bad WR. I'm not stressing about it.
I've had about a 60/40 with quest shaman and a 60/40 with quest rogue. Both decks preform decently against it.
They are not the most OP and Unfair decks in the games history trust me lol. They might be good but not the best ever lol. I've been playing since Beta and seen all the metas.
Casual stupid dogs from Blizzard. This nerfs so bad and useless on paper. Where is Lock's quest? How long Sorcerer's Apprentice will be so broken? Why they scared so much to make big changes(or real) changes,
I'd pay good money for a game designed and produced specifically by dogs. To be more specific, Pugs, sign me up!
Has anyone found any success with Quest Hunter. Hunter is my favorite class but the Quest seems to be very sub par. I'd love to hear what everyone is trying to make Quest Hunter work!
It used Alura to cheat out shard. So as soon as you had it in the deck the next turn you play Alura and pull it out and win. I think that may be the only way it's viable for now without more support.
You can make competitive decks with all the free cards you get in MtG Arena (unlike Heartstone imo).

I'll be honest. Most of my MTG time was spent playing Modern and Legacy. I wouldn't know too much about competitive standard decks on a budget if I'm being 100% honest.
I feel you get a lot more cards for your money. I also feel you get more from the their 'Rewards Track'.
You get a good amount of starter decks as a new player.
Also when Wizards bans a card you get a full refund for each copy you have plus you get to keep the card.
Also the have good daily offers (up to 95% off!).
I only preorder once when a new block comes out.
With the gold i saved from playing i can often buy another 40+ packs when i new block comes out .
Not to mention 'the Vault'.
All of that is very valid @BA5. I haven't pre ordered anything on Arena. I came in the middle of a set ( I can't remember what set) It was just rough to me from a wild card stand point. I should have been more clear.
I was scrolling Reddit yesterday and saw that someone hit Legend with Quest Priest. I tried out the list last night and came out with a positive WR at 8-2. Needless to say I was impressed. Am I the only one that thinks if the meta slows down that Quest Priest could be viable?

The nerfs will help A LOT. They were great nerfs.

47 With Tavern pass. I haven't gotten to play much yet besides finishing dailys.

Mind DM'ing me your list. I can't seem to get it to work.

I 100% agree. I'd be beyond down for this.

Are you playing it in standard?
