I definitely think Jade Golem decks will be better than Grimy Goons decks.
Both are similar in that the minion/weapon/spell you are using is normally a tempo loss on its own, but with jade golem's you are instantly getting a minion that makes up for it. With Grimy Goons you are getting an initial tempo loss with tempo gain on a later turn.
With Jade Golem you have to also think of each golem as an extra card you get to play on the board. You win the value game every time.
That being said, aggro decks counter both decks HARD. You fall behind on tempo every turn so you need healing or a comeback mechanic as well as stuffing your deck with buff cards/jade golem cards. Also you have to think Freeze Mage would destroy both decks as well.
With more cards to be released I don't think we can know for sure how each archetype will fair in a new meta, but it will be interesting to see how it shapes up.
The Battlecry is summoning a new Jade Golem so with Brann you would be summoning 2, if each one is stronger than the last then you would get 2 jade golems.
For example if it was the first one cast and you used Brann, you would get a 1/1 and a 2/2 Jade Golem. Not sure what you're asking about evolution, each Jade Golem summoned is new and doesn't affect the previous ones summoned.
Normally I don't complain much about what Blizzard does, but this is pretty clear that a new expansion should come with a pre-order card back as it always has.
Maybe they underestimated how much players actually want that card back when a new expansion hits? I have no idea but it just seems like something very doable and it's unfortunate that they didn't even have an in-client purchase option either yet. I'm hoping that they end up including a card back with the pre-order and give it to everyone has already pre-ordered.
Yeah it's hard to accomodate for all the classes as well.
But for me it doesn't feel right that Varian isn't one of the Kings. These choices could be debated til we're blue in the face however :) but it's fun to think about.
Not sure how this turned into a "who's your favorite streamer" thread but to the original point, Amaz said from the get go that he wanted to corporate sponsors also but he was trying this kickstarter campaign to see if he would be able to bypass sponsors for the time being or leverage the support from kickstarter to get an actual corporate sponsor that would pay the difference.
There's nothing wrong with him starting a kickstarter campaign. If you didn't want to donate then don't. I think most people didn't see the need to put up big dollars just to see their favorite streamers play each other in a team based format.
Also he is still planning on having ATLC2 but as of now he has no corporate sponsors so he is just saying he's going that route instead of crowdfunding the tournament.
Really not seeing why this was pegged by team 5 as a legendary. It has potential for additional value, but on a 2/3 it likely only gets you 1 card and is a soft taunt.
Playing this on turn 3 is tempo suicide. Maybe it's a legendary because people would at most play 1 copy of it and never 2 anyway.
I actually love playing burgle rogue and am interested in trying to make it better, but I don't see that here. I'll definitely experiment with it and see how it goes, but I'm afraid I'd rather not cut any of the cards I currently have in that list for this card.
At 6 mana this is really slow and can't survive to most minions at that level.
This would be playable if the text read: "If damaged and survives, draw a card."
Forcing a player to deal at least 5 damage to it to kill it instead of peppering it with smaller minions and direct damage would be better, but even then I'm not sure it would see play.
If there is a Paladin buff deck, then this becomes a priority target for an aggro deck.
Only problem is that at 3 mana, it's kind of awkward. pop the shield and single target removal is pretty easy at 4 mana so it only works well if you are playing it on an empty board.
I think mainly the point is that it keeps an aggro deck from just going face and makes killing it a priority. Therefore it's an expensive annoy-o-tron at that point.
I'm cautiously earmarking this as a card that's going to fly under the radar but define an entire deck or meta for priest. A blademaster that can't get insta bashed/executed/lightning bolted/frostbolted to death etc is fantastic.
Totally agree. If we're thinking of this card as a 3 mana 3/5 the turn it's played, it's a pretty good body, but the main problem with this is that it does damage to itself on the start of every turn so it's a good body for at the most 1 turn, but very strong if played on curve.
Outside of SW:P it's extremely trickty to remove it if it's played on curve. I think if anything it might be good to help priest with the early game, but what Priest really needed was a good 2 drop.
There is one thing that I would like to mention regarding the second poll option.
Some of you might not be aware of this but freeze mage had existed WAAAAAAY before Blackrock Mountain came out back then it had preformed well. Freeze mage won't disappear from standard just because Emperor is gone.
I would also point out that although freeze mage performed fine back then, it was no where near the power level of the decks that are out now. So, yes I believe Freeze Mage will find a way to survive, but in no means is it as powerful.
The poll option was just to add flavor to the option, but apparently everyone on this forum is anti-fun.
Only someone with little understanding on cyclical metas and design space would suggest something like this.
I completely understand why Emperor could limit design space like making 1 mana spells or minions that could be completely broken with a mana reduction for example.
I said, IF given the opportunity would you keep it in Standard. If your answer is no then fine, I totally see merit in that, but I also see merit if people would like to explore how to use Emperor in new Standard decks as well. At the end of the day this is a game, it's what people find more fun.
1. Thaurissan is useful in many ways not only for freeze mage, skewed, or more like immature poll. 2. There souldn't exist an evergreen set, but oh well. 3. Stop doing this, not a single card should be evergreen, please, learn how card games works, sets rotates, people are forced to buy new cards to stay in the game, from time to time reprints and functional reprints (cards that do the same) and stricktly better/worse cards will be printed. That's how card games works, and it's fine, people hate the stale meta but constantly want to see cards being moved to the evergreen set ignoring that this PROMOTES a stale meta...
I think you misunderstood my post, I am simply asking for people's opinions and by no means am I advocating one opinion over the other, I think it was pretty clear.
As many pointed out Loatheb had a case in the last rotation, in fact probably a much better case. I have no doubt that Hearthstone will continue to rotate old adventures/expansions but this is just a fun discussion. Of course I know Emperor is used in a variety of ways and not just for combo decks, but the poll, like the post is for fun. Calm down.
For brand new players I usually tell them to check out Trump Teachings. I saw a few comments saying he's not a good deck builder which can be argued, but his educational videos are pretty good at explaining the ins and outs of the game for a beginner.
Of those videos I think the most important is 05 - Favorable Trading.
I'll talk a bit about it here, but see the video for more.
Basically favorable trading is about attacking your opponents' minions with your own in a manner that leaves you with the most favorable board state. The #1 mistake I see new players make is to make unfavorable trades.
- The trick to it is analyzing how your opponent will deal with your minions after you trade, are you opening yourself up to an AOE spell the following turn? Can you "trade up"? As in a smaller minion that can take out a larger minion, like a 3/2 into a 4/3? Or if you see unfavorable trade on the board should you just go face instead so that your opponent is forced to deal with your minion themselves?
- Also playing minions into bad board states is very much related to this. If your opponent has a 3/3 on the board already you probably don't want to drop your 1/3 minion when they can basically trade into it for free, especially if that minion has another more important use such as card draw.
- In regards to AOE (Area of Effect), you need to know the basic AOE spells of each class so you know what to expect at different mana crystal amounts. When your opponent has 7 mana as a mage, you are thinking you may want to play around Flamestrike so if your board has a lot of minions that are under 4 health, you may want to trade into your opponents minions while you can otherwise they can wipe your board and be left with the minions you didn't kill earlier. Against Druid, be wary of having a lot of 1 health minions on turn 4 because they could have a Swipe waiting.
There are so many different factors to consider when making a move, but more than anything I would just play and learn by doing.

1 more mana and 2 more damage to all characters than Dread Infernal? Wow.
And the fact this is common will mean a big power shift in arena as well.
This is an auto-include for any reno-lock/handlock deck. A board clear + a 6/6 + 3 damage to add to possible lethal.
