Even the combo with Lava Shock is strictly worse than Hammer of Wrath since both cost four and leave you with the same number of cards you started with, but one does 3 damage and the other does 2.
The exception of course is if you have Unbound Elemental out or some other overloaded mana crystals.
Also you're right about it being good for late game card draw. In late game situations where you don't have many cards in hand, saving one crystal on the turn you play it is definitely worth being down 2 next turn. In that case you probably wouldn't get to spend those 2 anyways.
If you play this guy turn 2 and he survives you can follow it up with Spellbreaker. Giving you a turn 3 4/3 and an extra mana crystal for the rest of the game.
This is an awesome idea for a card, but he's only got one extra point of health compared to a regular 2-drop and those all have some other upside in addition to the 2/3 stats. He's got an ideal stat distribution for being given taunt but otherwise too big of a drawback.
That's exactly what this whole game needs. Good cards that force people to build decks differently than the 2 or 3 common decks currently utilized by each class. Hopefully we'll see a lot more of that in this set.

That was my first thought as well. Throw a Deadly Poison on it, then Blade Flurry when you want to start dealing 2 damage. So good.

Hopefully it's overused in the meta and we can all start running Nerub'ar Weblord.

I like how your opinion seemed to do a complete 180 in the process of commenting. Well done, sir.

That was my thought when I saw this.
Play it turn 7 with Conceal, then next turn Master of Disguise.
Maybe all the synergies between Inspire and Stealth is why they don't mind Rogue getting screwed over based on her hero power.

This turns Shield Slam into a reliable Shadow Bolt with the potential to do much more.
