lethal on board, paladin has 2 cards in hand, no board, i am at 23 health. look away from the screen for 5 seconds, game lost. i had to look at the replay to realize what the fuck just happened. 23 FACE DAMAGE FROM HAND. just fucking remove Mr. Shite
I wanted to try out the warrior quest warrior, after the recent buffs, so i copied a generic decklist from hsreplay.
usually I don't have a lot of trouble picking up new decks. i am not the most active player, but i've been playing the game for a long time and have hit legend several times with almost all classes. why i'm writing this post is, because i am not very experienced with pirate warrior decks, and clearly i am doing something wrong, because after 11 games now, I only managed to win one mirror game and one very close one vs mage.
to me the deck feels too "fair" for a win-by-turn-7-or-8 meta. there are no insane mana cheat, and the quest reward comes late and doesnt win you the game, in contrast to the other quest decks. but according to hsreplay the deck has a 54% WR in the category "diamond through legend", which is where i play most of my games, so most likely the ploblem is not the deck, but me.
i am especially struggling vs mages, a matchup that should be very much in my favor, according to the stats. what is my best line of play vs a mage? i am adding a few replays, maybe you can spot some issues with my play & decision making. it's not that easy to find good replays, because somehow i feel like mage just high rolls every single game.
https://hsreplay.net/replay/HLZxTe56jhUJZouHnT7rDe - Mage. probably the best draw possible for me, still almost lost. mistake on turn 6, bc i mixed up the damage conditions for the pirate and the damage spell.
I am curious to hear some input, how to pilot this deck correctly. do you think it could be stronger if i omit the quest and just go for a lower curve face deck? the reward just feels so underwhelming.
Fair decks still dont work in this meta. If your opponent is not dead by turn 8 you are going to die. in the last eight games i didnt play against a single quest deck that didnt finish their quest on 7 and win on 8. not a single one. 2 mages, 3 DH and then another mage. only two games i won were vs pirate warrior. a deck that has no mana cheat and no insta win quest, that didnt even finish before turn 8.
is there nobody that wants HS backl to a state where games last more than literally 7 turns?
Everytime time and I do mean everytime I about get an all time high rating on bg’s I go on a massive losing streak. Shit character choices, shit drafting choices, soon as I get any momentum sorry dood battlepass? No real money put into this game every? Nope you go back. Seems like outside of legend which was the only thing I did before the game went down hill. If you are a f2p you are pigeonholed into a peak and if you weren’t there before you can’t get there now unless you are willing to pay the price $
tavern pass is 2000g - you should be able to earn that in a few days bro, even as a f2p
i think the biggest problem is not quests but power creep and mana cheat.
mana cheat cards have been a big big problem almost every time they printed one. yet team 5 NEVER ever learn their lesson... this expansion has the biggest amount of new mana cheat cards ever. and huge surprise: IT'S A PROBLEM. again. who could've known???
what really annoys me is that because of the ever increasing amount of face damage from hand and mana cheat cards the games get shorter and shorter every expansion now. just looked at my decktracker stats. average game length in 2016: 11.3 turns. in 2018: 9.9 turns. in 2020: 9.8 turns. in 2021: 8.6 turns. this expansion: 7.4 turns.

is it even possible to loose a game as a shaman? i would not be able to recount how many fucking times this fucking class has dominated the meta with absolutely absurdly unfair and broken shit. 2 mana 2/5 rush windfury, 4 mana reduce every single minion cost by one, 4 mana rush heal to basically full hp, and then deal 16 damage with doomhammer on the next turn.
nobody can tell before the meta has settled. usually if you don't have a lot of dust to spare, you should wait a few weeks before you craft non essential cards. that being said, barak has been a staple in almost every hunter deck since the last expansion, and will probably continue to be a very good card. if you enjoy playing hunter, this card probably is a safe craft.
i'll tell you how to fix it: increase starting health to 40 - boom! suddenly the game extends from turn 5 aggro lethal or turn 6 OTK lethal to an actually healthy game where minions and board interactions matter again. but they'll never ever do this, because fuck a healthy game, it makes way more money to get mobile players that only have an attention span of 3 minutes to buy tons of packs for the latest and greatest degenerate broken face deck.
There’s way more to it than that now. There’re too many ridiculous draw cards and piss easy OTKs in the game for that to work. All it would do is weaken aggro decks.
There’re literally tens of cards that are dreadfully designed and have no business being in the game. Like an above poster mentioned, it’s really unlikely that the meta will ever return to the way it was even two or three years ago because it would require a hard reset… which incidentally Blizzard actually did four months ago and somehow made it even worse than ever.
you are probably right. when they first started introducing a big amount of mana cheating cards a few years ago the game completely broke for a while, and they had to do tons of nerfs. but instead of learning their lesson, they seem detemined to bring even more ridiculous mana cheating cards every single new expansion. it's beyond frustrating to see how they've been increasing the tempo of card power creep over the last few expansions.
All you cry babies about "this game is too fast!" etc etc... you do realize this is primarily a mobile game right? They don't want people sitting on their phones for 30 minutes playing control. They want people to win fast to keep that dopamine hit constant. This is a business.
Then they should just delete Priest class and stop printing 6+ mana cards, there is no point to print any late-game strategy or interactive minion cards built for Control decks. Let just make the game filled with Aggro decks and OTK die-fast decks because the ultimate goal is to not let the opponent interact and win the game in less than 5 minutes.
well... exactly that was their approach with this expansion, wasn't it? ;) probably like 90% of games end before turn 10 and priest has a winrate of 36% in standard, 10% less than any other class.

https://hsreplay.net/replay/8oMUmZMSu72yA29Ebefac3 - Mage. i can't really decide if this is a face deck or not. should i be trading or do i just play this like a hunter deck?

https://hsreplay.net/replay/8UnnoxeCq34pWKg2boGKTi - Shaman. my quest reward feels kinda useless compared to all other quest decks which win the turn after they play it (DH, Mage, Warlock, Shaman)

went to rank 3 with shadow priest 2 days ago. just lost 9 games in a row. i'm not even tilted- how has the meta shifted so drastically?!

fun: rogue
OP: mage and warlock
useless: priest

in wild quest warlock finishes their quest on turn 4, plays reward on turn 5 and then you die to Unlicensed Apothecary on turn 6
